Trsovitě rostoucí druh kakostu. Z trsu sytě zelených hluboce vykrajovaných listů vyrůstají vysoké vzpřímené stonky s plnými květy v jemné fialovo modré barvě. V dobrých podmínkách je to odolná a dlouhověká rostlina. Po první vlně kvetení se doporučuje sestřihnout a zalévat, obroste a znovu nasadí na květ. I přes plné květy přitahuje tento kultivar spousty včel a motýlů. Uvádí se i výborná odolnost v sušších podmínkách.

Chrastavec makedonský je bohatě a dlouze kvetoucí nenáročná trvalka. Jeho divoká forma pochází z Balkánu, kde roste na loukách a v křovinách. Red Knight v záhonech okouzluje štíhlými vysokými stonky, které nesou tmavě vínové květy. Hodí se do přírodně pojatých slunných až polostinných záhonů a do lučních kytic. 

Dochany pochází z východní Asie, kde rostou na loukách a ve světlých lesích. Tvoří polokulovité trsy úzkých listů, které se na podzim, stejně jako květy ještě vybarvují. Jsou vhodné do vázy i k usušení. Kultivar Hameln patří mezi nejspolehlivěji kvetoucí v chladnějších oblastech. Květenství mají zpočátku jemný růžový nádech, pak se přebarvují do žlutohnědé až červenohnědé.

Perovskia are sparsely branched subshrubs, native to regions from Afghanistan to Tibet. They grow in open, sunny, rocky and stony habitats. Their striking features are their white felted shoots and greyish aromatic leaves. They are suitable for sunny beds with other drought-tolerant perennials, where they create interesting structures even in winter months. Little Spire is a smaller cultivar also suitable for pots with a soil volume of 7 liters or more.

A clump-forming cranesbill species. A native perennial with striking blue flowers in its natural form. Upright stems, up to 50 cm tall, grow from a clump of rich green, deeply lobed leaves, bearing flowers. A robust and long-lived plant under good conditions. The Striatum cultivar is also sometimes called Splish Splash. Its white flowers appear to be splashed with blue. The intensity of the coloration can vary, with purely white and purely blue flowers potentially appearing on the same plant. In your garden beds, choose those with the most blue markings and propagate them further by dividing clumps to maintain the vibrancy of the coloration.

Mallow is a beautiful, long-flowering perennial. Its inflorescence resembles miniature hollyhocks or mallow. It pairs well with a classic rose combination or in wilder beds with grasses.

This Phlomis grows wild in Central and Southeast Europe, and in our country, it is a critically endangered species. The stems are purple and bear rough, heart-shaped leaves. The flowers are pinkish-purple, and the dry seed capsules are also ornamental. It creates a striking decorative element even in winter. The combination with soft, loose plantings of grasses and perennials, into which Phlomis brings a strict graphic accent, is particularly impressive.

Physostegia is native to the eastern regions of North America, where it grows on riverbanks and in damp meadows. It forms upright, bushy clumps that spread outwards by root suckers. The flowers are shaped like slender spikes with four rows of tubular flowers, resembling snapdragons. Harvest them as soon as the first flowers in the inflorescence open; they will continue to bloom in the vase. In a bouquet, they are a suitable companion for dahlias and last 10–14 days in a vase. The spent flower spikes with seeds are interesting and can also be used for drying. Vivid is shorter and more compact, blooming early and profusely. The flower color is distinctively purplish-pink.

It forms a delicate airy shrub. Compared to Aster ericoides, the flowers are less numerous, placed individually at the ends of the branches, which gives the plant an airy effect. The plant has a very delicate appearance. It is beautiful in combination with other late asters and ornamental grasses. Healthy and long-flowering, the pink flower is slightly larger than that of Aster ericoides. It lasts 7 to 10 days in a vase.

An impressive solitary perennial with a robust, sparsely branched growth habit. It produces light yellowish-green, scabious-like flowers on long stems. The contrast between the relatively massive foliage and the airy, wiry stems with small flower heads is very striking. It lasts about 5 days in a vase. The spent inflorescences are also interesting in beds and bouquets.

It can be used as undergrowth beneath taller shrubs and trees. It smells noticeably more fragrant in the evening and at night, attracting night moths.
