It forms sturdy clumps of fresh green, pointed leaves. Above them, upright, narrow, candle-like inflorescences composed of individual tiny flowers appear from summer onwards. It is a very popular perennial, recently bred into many cultivars and used in Western Europe in larger park and garden landscaping. It excels with a long flowering period in late summer and good durability in a vase. It was voted Perennial of the Season 2023 by the Czech Perennials Association. The Speciosa cultivar has deep pink flowers.

Persicaria 'Lisan' is also excellent for cutting into a vase, where its rich color and interesting structure will last for several days and perfectly complement autumn arrangements.

Persicaria 'JS Caliente' will bring colorful energy to your perennial beds thanks to its deep crimson spikes. The original botanical species of these persicarias inhabit the moist mountain meadows of the Himalayas, which gives this bred variety exceptional hardiness and vigorous growth. It forms dense and upright clumps of fresh green leaves that reliably cover the soil and give weeds no chance. Unlike some of its relatives, it does not behave invasively and stays in its place, where it only gradually spreads in width. In flower beds, the plant looks wonderful in the company of ornamental grasses or late asters, with which it creates an impressive contrast. The flowers can also be used in a vase, where they look very decorative.
