Monardas, or bee balms, originate from the eastern parts of North America. They most often grow along paths, in thickets, and on the edges of light forests. They are honey-bearing aromatic plants, perfectly usable for cutting and in the kitchen. We ensure good living conditions to prevent powdery mildew. Typical for the Monarda Beauty of Cobham is the distinct contrast between purple-violet bracts and soft pink flowers. Planting in full sun further strengthens the purple tinge of the leaves and stems. It is well resistant to powdery mildew.

Pycnanthemum pilosum grows naturally in prairies, meadows, and along riverbanks. Its branched stems and flower heads resemble Monarda. The entire plant appears grey-green due to its dense hairiness. The leaves are fragrant when crushed. In garden beds, its greyish hue naturally ties together the colors of other perennials.

Eryngium yuccifolium catches the eye at first glance with its exotic appearance, which resembles a desert yucca more than a classic perennial. A perennial grass native to North American prairies. Switchgrass is very adaptable and long-lived. It adds clear structure to flower beds and simultaneously functions as a softening element. This is especially true after veil-like flowers appear above the clumps of leaves. Prairie Sky is probably the bluest cultivar of perennial switchgrass. It is not as strictly built as Heavy Metal. Its clumps are looser, and it turns yellow in autumn.

The aster, or heart-leaved aster, is an originally wild North American perennial, naturally growing in sunny habitats. The tiny flowers of the blue-violet cultivar Ideal are grouped into fluffy clouds. It is an irresistible attraction for bees. It can bloom until late autumn. Its delicate foliage on tall, later slightly arching shoots is also attractive. It lasts 7 to 10 days in a vase.

Kalimeris originates from East Asia, where it grows in open light forests and on meadows. It forms firm upright clumps; it is a healthy and very long-flowering perennial. Gaura is a charming clump-forming perennial whose original homeland is the sunny plains of Texas and Louisiana. In the garden, it will appreciate exactly the conditions it is used to from nature, meaning full sun and well-drained, even poorer and sandy soil. A sturdy clump that grows to a height of around eighty centimeters will grow from the seedling you receive. It belongs among the very undemanding plants for beginners, which are completely avoided by diseases and pests. Although it behaves more like a short-lived perennial here, it willingly self-seeds in a suitable location. The tiny little flowers colored in pure white and light pink shades resemble small butterflies and bloom tirelessly from June all the way to October. It adds extraordinary lightness and airiness to flower beds, making it combine beautifully with ornamental grasses. During its long months of blooming, gaura is constantly surrounded by bees, for which it represents a rich food source. The flowers are perfectly suited for cutting into summer bouquets.
