An interesting tuberous perennial with flowers blooming from the top down, that is exactly the popular dense blazing star. Precisely because of this rare peculiarity, where its long inflorescences bloom unconventionally from the tip downwards, it earned its fitting alternative Czech name "shorakvět" (top-flower). Its roots reach the sunny prairies and grassy meadows of North America, which is why it thrives most in direct sun in our gardens too. It does best long-term in well-drained, loamy, and humous soil, where it is provided with regular watering. The 'Floristan Violett' variety will brighten any space with a striking dark purple color. Its unusually shaped flowers appear gradually from July to September and confidently attract an abundance of beneficial bees, bumblebees, and butterflies to the garden.
We will deliver a grown seedling straight to you in a pot, which is fully ready for immediate planting. Blazing star grows to a height of sixty to ninety centimeters, and its sturdy stems with narrow green leaves stand perfectly straight even without artificial support. It is a completely low-maintenance plant, so even complete beginner gardeners will easily handle growing it. It easily tolerates extreme frosts well below minus thirty degrees and naturally avoids all diseases. You should only be on the lookout if you have field voles in the garden, which may be attracted to its swollen tubers. In perennial beds, it forms beautiful vertical lines and, in a suitable place, willingly self-seeds into the surroundings.
Floristically, it is an immensely valuable and rewarding species for any occasion. The dark purple spikes apply excellently in fresh summer bouquets, where they reliably function as a striking structural element. If you prefer dried arrangements, simply cut the blazing star and dry it; it perfectly retains its shape and rich color. But you definitely don't have to harvest everything for the vase. Pokud hledáte originální a bezúdržbovou trvalku na slunná místa, pěstování šuškardy vás určitě nadchne. Jelikož dodáváme kvalitní a dobře prokořeněné sazenice v květináčích, odpadá vám starost s náročným klíčením a rostlinu můžete bez obav vysadit na záhon rovnou. Nejvíce jí vyhovuje horké slunné stanoviště a propustná, na humus bohatá zemina. Výborně snáší i sušší půdní podmínky, ale musíte si dát pozor na místa, kde se na podzim nebo na jaře drží voda. V přemokřené, těžké jílovité půdě by její hlíznaté kořeny mohly rychle uhnít. Rostliny sázejte s rozestupem pětadvacet centimetrů od sebe, což dělá zhruba devět až dvanáct kusů na metr čtvereční. V tomto sponu se nebudou vzájemně utlačovat a vytvoří hustý, ale vzdušný porost.
Péče o šuškardu v průběhu roku nevyžaduje žádné odborné znalosti, což z ní dělá ideální volbu pro začátečníky. Pro úspěšné pěstování se držte několika základních pravidel:
- Zálivka: Vodu dodávejte rostlině s rozumem, střední zálivka je naprosto ideální. Jakmile sazenice dobře zakoření, zvládne i delší období bez deště.
- Hnojení: Pro bohatou násadu květů můžete na jaře přidat trochu běžného zahradního kompostu, ale další přihnojování během léta už není potřeba.

Zazimování této vytrvalé byliny je naprosto bezstarostné. Šuškarda vyniká extrémní mrazuvzdorností, hravě odolá teplotám klesajícím až k minus třiceti čtyřem stupňům Celsia. Na podzim se nemusíte trápit s žádným stříháním, suché stonky s odkvetlými klasy naopak na záhoně ponechte. Vytvářejí totiž velmi poutavý zimní efekt, zvlášť když je ojíněná rána ozdobí krystalky ledu. Jarní úklid pak spočívá jen v tom, že odumřelé nadzemní části seříznete blízko u země, a tím uvolníte cestu pro čerstvé zelené listy. Pokud si přejete pěstovat šuškardu v nádobě, i to je skvělá volba. Stačí zvolit větší květináč s drenážními otvory na dně a zajistit pravidelnější zálivku, jelikož substrát na slunném balkóně vysychá mnohem rychleji než volná půda v zahradě.

Exactly such conditions will be ideal for it in your garden as well. We send customers grown seedlings directly in pots, which take root quickly after being transplanted into the ground and soon form vigorous clumps of narrow green leaves.
Caring for this perennial is truly undemanding, and beginner gardeners can embark on it without worry. The plant grows to a height of sixty to ninety centimeters, has stable stems that do not require support, is avoided by diseases, and excels in reliable frost resistance, as it can withstand temperatures down to minus thirty-four degrees.
