Ostřice muskingumská je spolehlivá trvalka, která do zahrady vnese svěží zelenou barvu a zajímavou strukturu. Její původní domovinou jsou vlhké lužní lesy a břehy vodních toků v Severní Americe. Právě proto si na zahradě nejlépe poradí na místech, kde je dostatek vláhy.
