Are you looking for reliable greenery for problematic shady places where other flowers do not thrive? Carex disperma will surprise you with its hardiness and natural appearance. Its native home is humid groves and forest wetlands. In the garden, it therefore most appreciates shade or partial shade and a large dose of moisture in loamy and clayey soil.
It forms lower, approximately thirty-centimeter-tall clumps of lush leaves, which perfectly fill empty spaces under trees or along shady paths at a spacing of thirty to forty centimeters. In early summer, inconspicuous yellowish and greenish flowers appear. You won't create floral arrangements from them as this sedge is not suitable for cutting, but it provides a wonderful visual base for other perennials in the flower bed. In the winter months, it also retains an interesting structure, providing the much-desired winter effect.
It is completely free of diseases and pests and self-seeds naturally in the location. This creates a lush green carpet that will transform your garden into a piece of a quiet forest.

Pěstování ostřice řídkoklasé je skvělým řešením pro stinná a vlhká místa ve vaší zahradě. Tuto sazenici doporučujeme vysazovat na stanoviště, které napodobuje její přirozené prostředí, tedy do lehkého polostínu až chladného stinného koutu. Pro úspěšný růst potřebuje těžší jílovitou nebo hlinitou půdu s vysokým podílem humusu. Je to rostlina velmi náročná na vláhu, proto se ujistěte, že je půda neustále mírně vlhká a nevysychá. Sazenice sázejte do sponu třicet až čtyřicet centimetrů od sebe. Tento rozestup je důležitý pro optimální cirkulaci vzduchu a dává rostlině prostor k přirozenému přesévání. Ostřice se sama množí a postupně se rozroste do podoby hustého, dvacet až třicet centimetrů vysokého podrostu.
Tato přizpůsobivá trvalka je vhodná i pro pěstování v květináčích a truhlících. Při nádobovém pěstování ovšem počítejte s tím, že rostlina je zcela závislá na vaší zálivce. Zvolte proto prostornější nádobu, která udrží více vlhkosti, a naplňte ji hutnějším substrátem bohatým na živiny. Hnojení není nutné nijak přehánět, stačí na jaře přidat trochu organického hnojiva nebo kompostu na podporu vitality. Ostřice začíná kvést začátkem léta drobnými žlutozelenými klásky. Ačkoliv rostlina vůbec nevoní a její květy nejsou vhodné k řezu nebo sušení, v záhonu funguje jako vynikající a klidné pozadí pro výraznější stínomilné druhy.
Péče o ostřici během roku nevyžaduje žádné speciální zahradnické dovednosti. Skvělou zprávou je, že netrpí žádnými běžnými chorobami a škůdci se jí vyhýbají obloukem.
