Plant it in permeable, loamy, and humus-rich soil where it will have consistent moisture. Carex testacea forms dense fountains of narrow leaves reaching a height of 40 to 60 centimeters. Its color transitions smoothly from summer green to autumn copper, and finally to deep orange and bronze, which will brighten the garden even on the grayest days. During the summer, from June to August, it is adorned with small brown and beige flowers. It is considered a short-lived perennial, but thanks to its reliable self-seeding, you will enjoy its clumps constantly. In garden architecture, Carex testacea is a very valuable element. Ostřice oranžová je úžasná okrasná tráva, jejíž pěstování hravě zvládne i úplný začátečník. Jelikož vám domů dorazí již silná a dobře prokořeněná sazenice, můžete se rovnou pustit do výsadby na trvalé stanoviště. Nejlépe se jí bude dařit na plném slunci nebo v mírném polostínu. Platí zde ale jednoduché pravidlo, že čím více slunečních paprsků rostlina dostane, tím intenzivnější bude oranžové a bronzové zbarvení jejích listů. Půdu vyžaduje dobře propustnou, hlinitou a bohatou na humus. Na zálivku je středně náročná, postačí jí běžná zahradní vlhkost bez dlouhodobého přemokření, které by mohlo vést k uhnívání kořenů. Při výsadbě na záhon dodržujte spon 40 až 50 centimetrů, což odpovídá zhruba 5 až 7 rostlinám na jeden metr čtvereční. Tento rozestup zajistí optimální cirkulaci vzduchu a dostatek prostoru, aby trsy mohly dorůst do své plné krásy a výšky 40 až 60 centimetrů. Pro pěstování v květináči zvolte kvalitní humózní substrát, přidejte trochu písku pro lepší propustnost a na dno nezapomeňte umístit drenážní vrstvu. Rostliny v nádobách zalévejte pravidelně, ale vždy nechte vrchní vrstvu půdy mírně proschnout.Ačkoliv se botanicky jedná o krátkověkou trvalku, vůbec se toho nemusíte obávat.
