Cultivation
Ostřice převislá k vám dorazí jako již krásně vzrostlá sazenice, která je připravena rovnou obohatit vaši zahradu. Výběr správného stanoviště je pro ni naprosto klíčový. Nejlépe se jí bude dařit v polostínu nebo ve stínu, takže s ní snadno oživíte i ta nejtmavší zákoutí, kde by se jiným rostlinám nedařilo. Půda by měla být těžší, ideálně hlinitá, jílovitá nebo humózní, s vynikající schopností zadržovat vodu. Tato trvalka totiž vyžaduje opravdu bohatou zálivku a neustále vlhké prostředí, proto je naprosto ideální volbou pro výsadbu na břehy zahradních jezírek nebo do podrostu velkých keřů a stromů.
Sazenice můžete vysazovat na zahradu od jara do podzimu. Vzhledem k tomu, že ostřice v dospělosti tvoří mohutné trsy a dorůstá do výšky 80 až 150 centimetrů, doporučujeme dodržet dostatečný spon. Ideální vzdálenost mezi jednotlivými rostlinami je 50 až 70 centimetrů, což odpovídá zhruba třem až pěti kusům na metr čtvereční. Tento prostor zajistí rostlinám dostatek místa pro přirozený růst a dobrou cirkulaci vzduchu. Při samotné výsadbě přidejte do jamky trochu kvalitního kompostu, který podpoří rychlé zakořenění. Pravidelné hnojení během roku pak už není nutné, rostlina si vystačí s živinami, které přirozeně získá z humózní půdy.
Během sezóny je péče o ostřici velice nenáročná, což potěší každého zahradníka začátečníka. Od května do července vás odmění dlouhými převislými klásky v olivových a kaštanových odstínech. Tyto květy můžete směle stříhat do čerstvých letních kytic, ačkoli k sušení se nehodí. Velkou výhodou je, že tato dlouhověká trvalka netrpí na žádné choroby a vyhýbají se jí i běžní škůdci. Pokud rostlině poskytnete dostatek vláhy, poroste prakticky sama. Ráda se na vhodném místě sama přesévá. Pokud tedy nechcete, aby se v zahradě příliš šířila, stačí včas odstranit odkvetlé stonky před dozráním semen.
Tato travina je plně mrazuvzdorná až do teploty -23 °C, takže zimu u nás přečká bez jakýchkoliv problémů a nevyžaduje speciální zimní ochranu. Naopak, její tmavě zelené listy nabízejí nádherný zimní efekt, když je pokryje ranní jinovatka. Na jaře pak stačí trs pouze pročesat rukama a odstranit odumřelé nebo poškozené listy, případně provést lehký zpětný řez pro omlazení. Ostřici převislou lze velmi úspěšně pěstovat i v prostorných nádobách nebo truhlících na stinné terase. Zvolte opravdu velký květináč s odtokovými otvory, aby kořeny nestály v blátě. Použijte těžší, humózní substrát, který dobře váže vodu, a zajistěte častou a vydatnou zálivku, protože v nádobě zemina vysychá mnohem rychleji než ve volné půdě.
