Připravili jsme pro vás silnou a dobře prokořeněnou sazenici, kterou můžete ihned po rozbalení pohodlně vysadit na její trvalé místo v zahradě. Vzhledem k tomu, že isodon pochází z podrostu japonských lesů, vyhovuje mu ze všeho nejvíce chladnější polostinné až stinné stanoviště. Přímému a horkému slunci se raději vyhněte. Pro úspěšný růst vyžaduje propustnou a na humus bohatou hlinitou půdu. Při výsadbě do záhonu dodržujte doporučený spon 40 centimetrů. Tento prostor zaručí, že kolem rostlin bude volně proudit vzduch a vytvoří se silné a zdravé trsy. Isodon lze velmi úspěšně pěstovat i v prostorných nádobách na terasách. Květináč ovšem musí mít na dně dostatečnou vrstvu drenáže pro bezproblémový odtok přebytečné vody a vyžaduje pečlivější hlídání vlhkosti substrátu.
Z hlediska nároků na vodu patří tento druh ke středně náročným trvalkám, ideální je pro něj udržovat mírnou a stabilní vlhkost. Půdu se snažte udržovat přirozeně vlhkou, k čemuž vám výborně pomůže mulčování povrchu pomocí kůry, štěpky nebo listovky. Mulč totiž v letních měsících účinně zabrání rychlému a nežádoucímu odpařování vody. Na jaře doporučujeme rostlinu podpořit přidáním kvalitního uleželého kompostu nebo základního organického hnojiva, což jí dodá veškerou energii pro podzimní kvetení. Obrovskou výhodou a skvělou zprávou pro začínající zahradníky je fakt, že tato rostlina netrpí na žádné běžné choroby a přirozeně se jí vyhýbají i záludní škůdci. Můžete se tak naplno těšit ze zdravého růstu, aniž byste museli řešit jakékoliv chemické postřiky nebo složitou záchranu napadených listů.
Během letní sezóny můžete provést jeden velmi jednoduchý, ale mimořádně užitečný pěstitelský zásah. Aby trsy této jinak poměrně vysoké trvalky zůstaly krásně kompaktní a nerozklesávaly se, je ideální její výhony zhruba v polovině června zkrátit až o celou polovinu. Isodon díky tomuto kroku viditelně zhoustne a v průběhu října a listopadu vás odmění nádhernou záplavou čistě bílých zvonkovitých květů. Tyto pozdní květy navíc spolehlivě přilákají poslední podzimní opylovače. S příchodem tuhé zimy se o rostlinu nemusíte nijak obávat, je totiž plně mrazuvzdorná až do -23 °C. Nadzemní část s prvními mrazy přirozeně odumírá, proto suché a zhnědlé stonky odstraňte až v předjaří. Ostrými nůžkami je seřízněte těsně nad zemí ještě předtím, než začnou rašit nové jarní lístky.
