Joe Pye Weed Atropurpureum, Loukykvět

Eupatorium maculatum

Eupatorium 'Atropurpureum' is a stout and long-lived perennial that will bring a bold vertical element and plenty of life to your garden. In its native range on the damp meadows of North America, it forms dense stands, which is why even in the garden it will appreciate a sunny to semi-shady spot with nutritious, humous, and sufficiently moist soil, whether it is loamy or clayey. You will receive a beautifully grown potted seedling from us, which you just need to transplant to your chosen spot. Here, it will quickly form a massive clump of sturdy, dark red-purple stems that grow up to two meters tall and do not need support. During the summer, from July to September, huge flat inflorescences up to twenty-five centimeters in diameter open at their tops. These light purple to pink flowers emit a pleasant fragrance and act as a literal magnet for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. It is a completely undemanding plant avoided by pests and diseases, and it easily survives even very severe frosts well below minus thirty degrees. Eupatorium works excellently as a striking solitary plant in the back of a flowerbed or near water features. If you like to decorate your home, you can also use its sturdy stems for cutting into summer bouquets. In the autumn, it pays off not to remove the faded inflorescences, because when covered with frost in the winter months, they create a magnificent spectacle in the flowerbed.

Milk Parsley, Loukykvět

Selinum wallichianum

Milk parsley originates from the distant regions of the Himalayas and Nepal, where it grows as a long-lived and hardy perennial. It stands out with exceptionally decorative, finely pinnate leaves of a fresh green color, which at first glance resemble a tiny fern. These leaves form rich basal clumps, from which sturdy reddish stems grow during July and August, reaching a height of up to one hundred and twenty centimeters. At their tops, fluffy white umbels of flowers up to twenty centimeters wide open, bringing softness and lightness to the flower beds. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you simply transplant into the garden, where it will soon become a prominent feature from spring to autumn. In the garden, it is best suited to a sunny location and regular, well-drained soil. It is an absolutely undemanding plant that is avoided by pests and diseases, so even complete beginners can easily handle its cultivation. Milk parsley handles Czech winters without difficulty and tolerates frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees Celsius. Because it is a more vigorous species, we recommend maintaining a spacing of around eighty centimeters when planting. In perennial beds, it perfectly complements other sun-loving species and ornamental grasses, to which it adds a natural meadow touch. In addition, the wide white flowers act as a reliable lure for bees and other beneficial insects from the wide surroundings during the summer. If you like to create fresh bouquets, milk parsley will certainly please you in the summer months. Its striking inflorescences on sturdy reddish stems bring a beautiful meadow character to vases and add airy volume to every floral arrangement. It is best to cut the flowers for a vase early in the morning or in the evening when the tiny little flowers are fully open. With regular changes of clean water, they will stay fresh at home for seven to ten days and retain their radiant color. Experienced florists like to dry these flowers for winter decorations, while they also look interesting as original greenery in bouquets, for which you can cut its fine leaves from as early as spring.

The 'Alba' masterwort is a charming and undemanding perennial that will bring a piece of wild nature to any garden with its delicate, pure white flowers. In its natural environment, it grows in moist mountain meadows and light deciduous forests, so it will thrive best here in partial shade or full sun, provided you give it sufficiently moist and humus-rich loamy soil. From the mature potted seedling you receive, a nice clump with palmately lobed green leaves will grow relatively quickly, reaching a height of sixty to eighty centimeters. The plant does not need any support and handles even stronger frosts without difficulty. Moreover, it doesn't suffer from diseases; you just need to keep an eye out for slugs occasionally, as they like to snack on it. It looks exceptionally delicate in the garden and perfectly complements other moisture-loving plants. Its tiny umbel-like flowers, decorated around the perimeter with toothed bracts with translucent green, appear from June to September and reliably attract bees and other pollinators. The upright branched stems are perfect for cutting into fresh bouquets, where they will delight you with their long vase life. In a vase, the flowers stay beautiful for a good ten to fourteen days. They are also excellent for drying and other floristic uses because they hold their shape well. The 'Alba' cultivar stands out precisely for its radiant, pure white shade, which will brighten up even lightly shaded corners of your garden, and its care can be easily managed by complete beginners.

Cultivation

Půda by nikdy neměla úplně vyschnout. Často se ptáte, zda je možné tuto trvalku pěstovat v nádobě nebo prostorném truhlíku na terase. Odpověď zní ano, ale vyžaduje to určitou péči. Zvolte opravdu velký a hluboký květináč s odtokovými otvory a použijte kvalitní substrát s vysokým podílem kompostu. Vzhledem k vysokým nárokům na vláhu budete muset rostlinu v nádobě zalévat mnohem častěji, v parném létě pravděpodobně i každý den.

Eupatorium purpureum

Are you looking for a striking and reliable perennial for your garden? Joe-Pye weed catches the eye at first glance with a height of up to two meters and purplish-pink blooming. In its homeland in North American nature, it mainly inhabits moist meadows, which is why it will thrive best here in the sun in moister humus, loamy, or clayey soil. A healthy seedling in a pot will arrive at your home, which just needs to be transplanted. After planting, it soon forms a massive clump of dark green leaves. In midsummer, it then blooms with large aromatic inflorescences that literally buzz under the onslaught of bees and butterflies. The plant is completely undemanding, does not suffer from diseases or pests, and easily survives even very severe frosts. It works wonderfully in the back lines of flower beds, where it is planted with one-meter spacing, or as a mature solitary plant. The inflorescences hold their shape, so you can cut them into summer bouquets. In winter, on the other hand, the dry structure of the plant beautifully catches snow and frost. In short, it is an ideal choice for beginners, which you will enjoy for decades.

The Czech Perennial Association chose autumn Anemones as the perennial of the season for 2022. They last 7 days in a vase. Whirlwind is a historical variety bred in 1887 in the USA. It has a semi-double pure white flower, often with inner twisted petals, and compact, strictly upright growth. The flowers are very durable.
