The Agastache 'Black Adder' cultivar is a sturdy and attractive perennial that you will simply not overlook in the garden. Its wild ancestors come from the sun-drenched regions of East Asia, primarily Japan and China. Therefore, it is best suited here to a sunny location and well-drained sandy or loamy soil, where unnecessary moisture will not be retained around it. A beautifully mature potted seedling will arrive at your home from us, which simply needs to be transplanted directly outside into the flowerbed, ideally with a spacing of fifty centimeters. It will quickly take root and soon form massive upright stems almost one meter tall. It does not need any support and perfectly complements other drought-tolerant perennials. Even though the leaves strikingly resemble nettle leaves, you don't have to be afraid of them. They offer only a refreshing mint and anise scent. Moreover, these aromatic leaves and the blue flowers themselves are edible and suitable for garnishing your culinary creations. 'Black Adder' is exceptional for its very dark flower coloration and an unusually long blooming period from July to September. The blue flowers act literally as a magnet for bees and butterflies. The plant is excellent for cutting into fresh arrangements, maintaining its freshness in a vase for about seven days. The fading spike-like inflorescences do not lose their shape and look constantly very captivating. Cultivation
Sazenice kultivaru Black Adder, kterou od nás obdržíte, je připravena k okamžité výsadbě. Ideální je pro ni slunný záhon na teplém místě. Půda by měla být především dobře propustná, hlinitá nebo písčitá, a zásobená živinami. Těžkým a zamokřeným půdám se raději vyhněte, protože nadměrná vlhkost, zejména v zimních měsících, rostlině nesvědčí. Pro úspěšné pěstování dodržujte spon 40 až 50 centimetrů, což odpovídá zhruba čtyřem až šesti rostlinám na metr čtvereční. Dostatečný prostor zajistí správnou cirkulaci vzduchu kolem listů. Výsadbu doporučujeme provádět ideálně na jaře nebo v časném podzimu, aby sazenice stihla dobře prokořenit.
Jakmile se rostlina na novém místě uchytí, výborně snáší sucho a vyžaduje jen minimální zálivku. Zalévejte ji proto pouze v obdobích dlouhotrvajícího sucha. Hnojení není nutné nijak přehánět, postačí přidat trochu kvalitního kompostu při výsadbě. Tuto trvalku můžete s velkým úspěchem pěstovat i v prostornější nádobě nebo truhlíku na terase. V takovém případě nezapomeňte na silnou drenážní vrstvu na dně květináče a zeminu odlehčete pískem. U nádobových rostlin pamatujte na to, že substrát vysychá mnohem rychleji než volná půda na záhonu, proto bude zálivka potřeba o něco častěji, ale vždy až po proschnutí horní vrstvy.
Během léta vás agastache odmění záplavou modrých a fialových květů, které můžete průběžně stříhat do váz, kde vydrží svěží zhruba týden. Odstraňováním odkvetlých stonků navíc podpoříte tvorbu nových poupat a prodloužíte dobu kvetení. Jde o naprosto bezproblémovou rostlinu, která netrpí na choroby a vyhýbají se jí i běžní škůdci, takže je jako stvořená pro začátečníky. Před zimou rostlinu nestříhejte. Odkvétající klasovitá květenství si drží tvar, dodají vaší zahradě krásný zimní efekt a zároveň přirozeně chrání kořenový krček. Rostlina je plně mrazuvzdorná až do -23 °C. Teprve brzy na jaře proveďte radikální zpětný řez těsně nad zemí, čímž podpoříte vitální a hustý růst v nové sezóně.
