Cephalaria gigantea

An impressive solitary perennial with a robust, sparsely branched growth habit. It produces light yellowish-green, scabious-like flowers on long stems. The contrast between the relatively massive foliage and the airy, wiry stems with small flower heads is very striking. It lasts about 5 days in a vase. The spent inflorescences are also interesting in beds and bouquets.

Aster novi-belgii

It originates from the northeastern USA and southern Canada, where it grows in moist areas, thickets, and along coastlines. It readily hybridizes with other aster species, resulting in countless varieties. Unlike New England asters, their flowers do not close at night or in unfavorable weather, making them perfect for cutting and placing in a vase. We must consider their susceptibility to powdery mildew, which can be prevented by choosing a suitable location. They last 7 to 10 days in a vase. Brigitte has light, pastel lavender, semi-double flowers with a yellow center. They contrast beautifully with the dark foliage.
