Cultivation
Plesnivka nejlépe poroste na slunném, teplém a sušším místě v zahradě, ideálně na plně osluněných jižních svazích. Zásadní je pro ni správná půda, která by měla být chudá na živiny, velmi dobře propustná, nejlépe písčitá až kamenitá. Těžkým jílovitým zeminám se vyhněte, protože v nich by kořeny mohly v zimě zahnívat. Při výsadbě dodržujte spon zhruba 30 centimetrů od sebe, což odpovídá přibližně 9 až 11 rostlinám na metr čtvereční. Takto zvolená vzdálenost zajistí dostatečnou cirkulaci vzduchu, díky čemuž rostliny lépe osychají a zůstávají vitální.
Co se týče zálivky, jedná se o velmi nenáročnou trvalku, která si po zakořenění skvěle poradí se suchem. Zalévejte ji proto jen mírně a v obdobích dlouhých veder; přemokření jí vyloženě škodí. Hnojení není vůbec potřeba, jelikož v na živiny chudých půdách si lépe zachovává svůj kompaktní tvar o výšce 30 až 50 centimetrů. Plesnivka se dá s velkým úspěchem pěstovat i v nádobách či truhlíkách na slunných terasách. Pokud se pro tuto variantu rozhodnete, dodržujte tato pravidla:
- Na dno květináče nasypte štěrk nebo keramzit pro silnou drenážní vrstvu.
- Použijte lehký substrát s vysokým podílem písku.
- V nádobě zalévejte až ve chvíli, kdy substrát zcela vyschne.
Během léta nevyžaduje žádnou speciální údržbu a nepotřebuje ani oporu, protože její stonky jsou pevné a stabilní. Velkou výhodou pro každého pěstitele je, že netrpí žádnými chorobami a spolehlivě se jí vyhýbají i běžní škůdci, takže odpadá jakékoliv ošetřování postřiky. Jelikož s příchodem zimy ztrácí nadzemní část, doporučujeme na podzim nebo brzy na jaře suché výhony seříznout těsně nad zemí, aby měla prostor pro nový růst. Trvalka je plně mrazuvzdorná až do -23 °C a zimu na záhonu přečká bez nutnosti jakékoliv speciální ochrany. Květináče však raději přesuňte na chráněné místo k vnější zdi domu.

This species of sage originally comes from the steppe regions of Central and Eastern Europe. It forms profusely flowering small clumps with straight upright stems. In flower beds, it looks best in groups. Traditionally, due to the identical flowering time, it is planted as a companion to roses. However, it will look just as good in mixed drought-loving steppe plantings with grasses. It lasts 7 days in a vase. The cultivar Caradonna stands out with a long flowering period and dark, almost black-purple stems with tiny purple flowers and dark purple bracts. If we cut it back after flowering, it will bloom again in late August and September.

A valuable garden and medicinal perennial, originally from North America. It blooms in summer with dark purple-pink flowers. The spiky flower discs are an irresistible lure for butterflies. Lasts 7–10 days in a vase. After plucking the petals, the stems with the central discs can be dried or used in fresh bouquets as an interesting element. Rubinstern is very similar to the Magnus cultivar; the petals are darker and firmer. As they fade, they gradually pale and droop downwards.

Gaura is a clump-forming perennial native to Texas and Louisiana. Here, it behaves more like a short-lived perennial. It combines beautifully with grasses and adds lightness and airiness to flower beds. It is excellent pasture for insects. Tiny flowers resembling small butterflies bloom tirelessly from June until the first frosts. For bouquets, harvest as soon as the first two or three flowers on the stem open. It differs from other calamints with felted leaves by its record flowering length, stiff and shiny leaves, and also a larger number of flowers that do not form seeds and are therefore maximally durable. Fernleaf Yarrow originates from the Caucasus and Central Asia. Unlike Common Yarrow, it grows in clumps and is also suitable for drying. Cutting back soon after flowering encourages re-blooming. However, if you decide to leave the spent stems in the beds, you gain a perfect structure that remains impressive long into winter. The leaves of this species emit a typical bitter Yarrow aroma.
