Bezkolenec 'Edith Dudszus' je elegantní tráva, která vnese do vaší zahrady dynamiku a barvy, a to s minimálními nároky na údržbu. Základem úspěchu je pochopení jejích vláhových nároků – miluje půdu, která je tzv. „čerstvá“, tedy stále mírně vlhká, ale zároveň dobře propustná. Ideálním stanovištěm je slunné místo nebo polostín, kde se rostlině daří nejlépe. Na plném slunci se také dočkáte nejintenzivnějšího podzimního zbarvení listů do zlato-oranžova a tmavě purpurových květenství. Půda by měla být hlinitá a bohatá na humus, který pomáhá zadržovat potřebnou vláhu. Vyhněte se extrémně suchým písčitým půdám nebo naopak těžkým jílovitým podložím, kde stojí voda, protože ačkoliv má ráda vlhko, zimní přemokření by mohlo způsobit hnilobu kořenů.
Výsadbu zakoupených sazenic provádějte tak, aby měl každý trs dostatek prostoru pro svůj vývoj. Dodržujte spon přibližně 40–50 cm, což zajistí dobrou cirkulaci vzduchu a zabrání vzniku houbových chorob, i když tento kultivar je vůči nim mimořádně odolný a uvádí se u něj absence chorob i škůdců. Po výsadbě rostlinu vydatně zalévejte, dokud dobře nezakoření. V dalších letech stačí zalévat v obdobích sucha. Co se týče výživy, bezkolenec je skromný. Přehnojování, zejména dusíkatými hnojivy, je spíše na škodu. Bohatě postačí na jaře přihnojit kvalitním kompostem rozhozeným kolem trsů.
Jednou z největších předností této trávy je její zimní efekt. Pevná stébla bez kolének (odtud název bezkolenec) se nelámou a zůstávají vzpřímená i pod tíhou sněhu, což vytváří krásnou zimní scenerii. Proto rostlinu na podzim nikdy nestříhejte. Řez proveďte až brzy na jaře, jakmile pominou nejtěžší mrazy, ale ještě před rašením nových stébel. Odstraňte veškerou suchou hmotu nízko nad zemí. Rostlina je vysoce mrazuvzdorná (zóna 4a), takže nepotřebuje žádnou speciální zimní ochranu, jako je chvojí nebo textilie, pokud je vysazena ve volné půdě.
Pokud nemáte zahradu, můžete tento bezkolenec úspěšně pěstovat i ve větším truhlíku či květináči na balkoně či terase. Díky svému menšímu vzrůstu se do nádob skvěle hodí. Při pěstování v nádobě je však nutné věnovat zvýšenou pozornost zálivce, protože substrát nesmí nikdy zcela vyschnout. Použijte kvalitní zahradnický substrát smíchaný s trochou zeminy pro lepší zadržování vody. Na zimu je vhodné nádobu izolovat, aby kořeny nebyly vystaveny příliš prudkým výkyvům teplot, a postavit ji na místo chráněné před ostrým zimním sluncem a větrem. I v nádobě platí pravidlo jarního řezu.

Tufted hairgrass is an undemanding native grass that remains green even in winter. In nature, it grows in meadows and forest clearings. It forms a neat clump of leaves, from which grow delicate thin stems with transparent clouds of flowers. It adapts even to more difficult conditions, such as dry shade or compacted soil, and can handle waterlogging too. The Czech cultivar 'Pálava' is valuable for its extra-long flowering time from July to October. Unlike other cultivars, its flowers are sterile and do not create any seedlings. It is stated that it resists drought best of all tufted hairgrasses.
