It is an absolutely undemanding plant that is not bothered by diseases or pests, so its cultivation can be easily handled even by complete beginners. It comfortably withstands severe frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees Celsius.
In the garden, hyssop finds wide application. It fits perfectly into steppe-character gravel beds and beautifully complements roses or lower ornamental grasses. During the summer until early autumn, the Roseus variety will delight you with a flood of tiny flowers in a delicate light pink shade. These flowers, as well as the narrow green leaves, emit a pleasant spicy fragrance and reliably act as a huge lure for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. We cut the stems for a vase when roughly a quarter to half of the flowers on the stem are open. Although it is more of a short-lived perennial, it will bring you a lot of joy in the flowerbed with its rich flowers and undemanding nature.

Čemeřice je nenáročná dlouhověká trvalka, kterou bez problémů zvládne pěstovat i úplný začátečník. Na zahradě jí vyberte místo v polostínu nebo stínu, ideálně pod korunami stromů nebo keřů, kde bude mít přirozenou ochranu. Nejlépe se jí daří v propustné, hlinité půdě, která je dostatečně bohatá na humus. Dodané sazenice vysazujte na vzdálenost přibližně 50 centimetrů od sebe, což odpovídá čtyřem až šesti rostlinám na metr čtvereční. Nejdůležitější zásah do rostliny přichází koncem zimy, těsně před tím, než se objeví první poupata. V tuto chvíli seřízněte a odstraňte všechny nevzhledné nebo poškozené loňské listy. Nové květy díky tomu mnohem lépe vyniknou. Odstřižené listy navíc vždy rovnou zlikvidujte a nedávejte je na kompost, zabráníte tím šíření případných chorob z předešlé sezóny. Přes léto pak čemeřice vytvoří nový, zdravý trs tmavě zelených kožovitých listů.
Tato trvalka je vysoce mrazuvzdorná a bez problému zvládne teploty klesající až k -28 °C, takže nevyžaduje žádnou speciální zimní ochranu. Přestože jde o velmi odolnou rostlinu, občas ji mohou potrápit škůdci. Na co si dát nejvíce pozor:
- Mšice: Pravidelně kontrolujte mladé výhony a první poupata.
- Slimáci a plzáci: Zejména na jaře mohou okusovat nové křehké listy.
- Lalokonosec: Vykusuje typické ornamenty na okrajích listů, nebezpečné jsou i jeho larvy u kořenů. Rostlina láká k prvním jarním květům brzké opylovače, takže v únoru a březnu vaši zahradu oživí včely. Všechny části rostliny jsou jedovaté, proto při manipulaci a řezu doporučujeme používat zahradnické rukavice. Pokud si rádi řežete květy do vázy, pamatujte na důležité pravidlo. Čemeřice ustřihněte až ve chvíli, kdy se uprostřed květu utvoří nápadné semeníky a květ vyzraje, dříve mají tendenci vadnout a stonky neudrží květ ve vzpřímené poloze.
Zákazníci se nás často ptají, zda je možné čemeřici pěstovat také v květináči nebo truhlíku. Dobrou zprávou je, že ano, ale má to svá specifika. Čemeřice tvoří hluboký a bohatý kořenový systém, takže potřebuje dostatečně velkou a hlubokou nádobu. Nezapomeňte na velmi dobrou drenáž na dně květináče a odtokový otvor, aby voda mohla po zálivce vždy volně odtéci. Použijte kvalitní humózní substrát s příměsí hlíny. V nádobě bude rostlina vyžadovat pravidelnější kontrolu vlhkosti, aby substrát úplně nevyschl, ale zároveň nesmí stát ve vodě. Takto pěstovaná čemeřice krásně ozdobí stinné terasy nebo vstupní prostory do domu právě v době, kdy většina ostatních rostlin ještě hluboce spí.

The inflorescences often appear as early as January and keep adorning the plant until March. It is one of the few plants that offer food for insects at such an early time. It is a naturally profusely blooming perennial that delights in full sun and well-drained, sandy, and nutrient-poor soil. You will receive from us an already grown seedling in a pot, which will quickly form a vigorous clump after being transplanted into the garden. From early summer until late autumn, it will delight you with a flood of tiny flowers in pure white and delicate pink tones. The flowers gently sway in the breeze and with their appearance resemble a flock of tiny butterflies, which also really like to land on the plant, as do bees and bumblebees. Although gaura is known as a short-lived perennial, thanks to its willing self-seeding, it will last for many years in your garden. Caring for it is completely undemanding, it is avoided by most diseases and pests, and it can handle frosts down to eighteen degrees below zero without any problems. It is often used in mixed borders, where it beautifully softens the overall impression, and perfectly matches various types of ornamental grasses. The Summer Breeze variety is popular for its strong and healthy growth as well as its exceptionally generous set of flowers, which grow to about one meter. If you like to create your own bouquets, do not hesitate to cut gaura for a vase. Harvesting is best done the moment the first small flowers on the stem begin to open. These delicate flowers are not suitable for drying into dried arrangements, but they will beautifully lighten up fresh bouquets.
