Stinking Hellebore
Stinking hellebore is a fascinating perennial that brings life into the garden at a time when most other plants are still sleeping. It naturally grows in bright forests and on stony slopes in southwestern and central Europe, making it an ideal choice for shady and partially shaded corners under trees. Its deeply palmate, dark green leaves resemble a small palm and remain decorative all year round, giving structure to flower beds even in winter. As early as January, rich inflorescences of drooping bell-shaped flowers in a lime-green color appear on upright stems, often with a subtle burgundy edge. The flowers last on the plant for a very long time and are a valuable food source for the first spring pollinators.
Although it is a botanical species that is not as long-lived as garden hellebore hybrids, it reliably maintains itself on the site thanks to its ability to self-seed. The plant is poisonous in all its parts, so handle it carefully and preferably use gloves. It is excellent for a vase and creates a beautiful contrast to spring bulbs, but only cut the stems when the flowers are fully mature and forming seed pods so they don't wilt in the water.

Pro úspěšné pěstování této čemeřice vyberte stanoviště v polostínu až stínu, ideálně pod korunami listnatých stromů nebo keřů, které jí v létě poskytnou ochranu před úpalem a v zimě, kdy jsou bez listí, dostatek světla. Půda by měla být hluboká, propustná a humózní, s dostatkem živin a vápníku. Protože má rostlina hluboký kořenový systém, nesnáší dobře časté přesazování, proto místo pro výsadbu vyberte pečlivě. Při výsadbě sazenic dodržujte rozestup přibližně 50 cm (4–6 rostlin na m²), aby měly rostliny dostatek prostoru pro cirkulaci vzduchu. To je důležité jako prevence proti houbovým chorobám, jako je černá skvrnitost, která se může objevit ve vlhkém a nevětraném prostředí.
Zálivku vyžaduje čemeřice smrdutá přiměřenou; půda by neměla zcela vyschnout, ale rostlina nesnáší ani trvalé přemokření, které by vedlo k hnilobě kořenů. Během suchého léta je občasná zálivka prospěšná pro tvorbu květních pupenů na další sezónu. Vzhledem k tomu, že je plně mrazuvzdorná (až do -28 °C), nepotřebuje na zimu ve volné půdě žádnou speciální ochranu. V silných mrazech se mohou stonky položit k zemi, což je přirozený obranný mechanismus; jakmile se oteplí, opět se narovnají.
Na rozdíl od jiných druhů zahradních čemeřic se u Helleborus foetidus neodstraňují na jaře všechny loňské listy, protože květní stvoly vyrůstají přímo z olistěných stonků. Odstraňujte proto pouze mechanicky poškozené, napadené nebo zcela uschlé části, abyste zachovali vitalitu rostliny a její přirozený vzhled. Buďte opatrní při jakékoli manipulaci, celá rostlina je jedovatá a šťáva může dráždit pokožku, proto vždy používejte ochranné rukavice. Pokud toužíte po pěstování v nádobě, zvolte dostatečně hluboký květináč s výbornou drenáží, aby měly kořeny kam růst. Nádobu je však nutné v zimě izolovat nebo zapustit do záhonu, aby kořenový bal nepromrzl, což je u rostlin v květináčích větší riziko než ve volné půdě.

Lesser calamint Blue Cloud is an undemanding and modest perennial that reliably perfumes any sunny garden. Its original homeland is the sunny and dry slopes of Southern Europe, which is why it thrives best here in direct sun in well-drained, sandy, or poorer loamy soil. It handles winter without problems, tolerating frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant straight into the flowerbed, where it will very soon form a compact, airy small shrub reaching a height of up to forty centimeters. It does not suffer from any diseases or pests, so even complete beginners can easily handle caring for it. Throughout late summer and into autumn, it blooms with a record number of tiny blue flowers that are so typical of the Blue Cloud variety. Catmint Walker’s Low
Catmints are ideal companions for roses, suitable for naturalistic gardens, and lower species also for boxes and pots. Some of them are an irresistible attraction for cats, caused by the hallucinogen nepetalactone. This should be present in the highest amount in the species Nepeta cataria. Conversely, lemon-scented catmints reportedly do not attract cats. The botanical name Nepeta likely comes from the name of the ancient Etruscan city Nepet - Nepi in the territory of today's Italian province of Viterbo, where the plant was once cultivated. Nepeta racemosa naturally grows on dry meadows and rocky, stony slopes from the Caucasus to Central Asia. It has aromatic grey-green leaves and forms a tufted semi-spherical bush. Walker’s Low got its name after an Irish estate where it was bred in 1970. It has the most intense blue-violet flower coloration.
