Like all poppies, for use in bouquets, we harvest them as soon as the buds color and "burst open." Additionally, we briefly (for about 20 seconds) sear the ends of the stems with a flame and immediately place them in cold water. They then last 4 days in a vase. The noticeably fuzzy and large leaves die back shortly after flowering, and the plant must rest until spring to regain strength. Some leaves sprout again in late summer. Therefore, it is advisable to plant other perennials nearby that, on the contrary, sprout later and can draw attention during the poppy's dormant period. Royal Wedding flowers have white petals with a dark burgundy spot in the center of the flower.

Gaura is a clump-forming perennial native to Texas and Louisiana. In our climate, it behaves more like a short-lived perennial. It combines beautifully with grasses and adds lightness and airiness to flowerbeds. It is an excellent food source for insects. Tiny, butterfly-like flowers bloom tirelessly from June until the first frosts. For bouquets, we harvest as soon as the first two to three flowers open on the stem. Siskiyou Pink is a beautiful variety with rose-red flowers on slightly arched stems. Less hardy than white-flowering varieties. The red-spotted leaves are also interesting.

A short-lived perennial with silver, softly felted stems and leaves. It blooms for a very long time, with a new flower opening each day, replacing the previous one. The basic species has simple, purplish-pink flowers.

They stand out against a darker background of shrub groups and will also be grateful for their partial shade. The Czech Perennial Society chose autumn anemones as the perennial of the 2022 season. They last 7 days in a vase. Whirlwind is a historic variety bred in 1887 in the USA. It has semi-double pure white flowers, often with inner curled petals, and a compact, strictly upright growth. The flowers are very durable.

This Phlomis grows wild in Central and Southeast Europe, and in our country, it is a critically endangered species. The stems are purple and bear rough, heart-shaped leaves. The flowers are pinkish-purple, and the dry seed capsules are also ornamental. It creates a striking decorative element even in winter. The combination with soft, loose plantings of grasses and perennials, into which Phlomis brings a strict graphic accent, is particularly impressive.

This native species comes from North America, where it grows on roadsides, clearings, and forest edges in drier, rocky soil. Monarda fistulosa and its hybrid cultivars are more drought-tolerant and resistant to powdery mildew.

This unique characteristic also gave it its secondary Czech name – shorakvět (top-flower) – as most plants bloom in the opposite direction, from bottom to top. Its unusually shaped white flowers attract bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. Also interesting for bouquets.

A classic perennial for early summer bouquets and country gardens. For bouquets, we harvest flowers with firm, smooth central disks. They then last 7–10 days in a vase. Daisy Christine Hagemann has large, pure white, and full flowers.

Physostegia is native to the eastern regions of North America, where it grows on riverbanks and in damp meadows. It forms upright, bushy clumps that spread outwards by root suckers. The flowers are shaped like slender spikes with four rows of tubular flowers, resembling snapdragons. Harvest them as soon as the first flowers in the inflorescence open; they will continue to bloom in the vase. In a bouquet, they are a suitable companion for dahlias and last 10–14 days in a vase. The spent flower spikes with seeds are interesting and can also be used for drying. Vivid is shorter and more compact, blooming early and profusely. The flower color is distinctively purplish-pink.

Poblekla (Cupidone) is a medium-height, short-lived perennial. It originates from the Mediterranean and is therefore suitable for areas with milder winters. Its flowers are white and similar in shape to chicory. The unopened flower buds are also attractive, as are the silvery spent inflorescences. It is also suitable for drying. Fresh in a vase, it lasts 7 days. Alba has white flowers.

Monardy, nebo také zavinutky, pocházejí z východních částí Severní Ameriky. Nejčastěji rostou podél cest, v křovinách a na okrajích světlých lesů. Jsou to medonosné aromatické rostliny, perfektně využitelné k řezu i v kuchyni. Pink Suprême se vyznačuje kompaktním růstem, a proto je možné jí pěstovat i ve větším květináči. Květy jsou tmavě růžové, listy aromatické. 

Nenáročná a skromná trvalka, která vykvétá velkým množstvím drobných kvítků. Kvete rekordně dlouhou dobu po celé pozdní léto a podzim. Tvoří menší kompaktní vzdušné keříky, které vydávají mátově kořenitou vůní. Květy podobné tymiánu lákají včely, čmeláky a motýly. Dobře bude vypadat mezi růžemi i v přírodně pojatých stepních záhonech třeba s nižšími trávami.

It is an effective, delicate perennial ornamental not only for its flowers but also for its small, feathery leaves. The flowers grow in loose panicles on thin, purplish-colored stems. Individual florets are very tiny, lilac in color with protruding yellow stamens. In beds and bouquets, they create an airy, lacy effect. Lasts 7 days in a vase.

Chrastavec makedonský je bohatě a dlouze kvetoucí nenáročná trvalka. Jeho divoká forma pochází z Balkánu, kde roste na loukách a v křovinách. V záhonech okouzluje štíhlými vysokými stonky, které nesou pastelově vínové a růžové květy. Hodí se do přírodně pojatých slunných až polostinných záhonů a do lučních kytic.
