Phlox 'White Perfume' will delight anyone who cannot wait for the typical scent of tall summer phloxes but doesn't want to wait until the holidays. This petite spring perennial originally comes from the light forests of North America, where it forms a natural undergrowth. Thanks to this, it is perfectly suited for partial shade locations in gardens, ideally under taller shrubs or trees, where it can form looser carpet-like growth. It loves well-drained, humus-rich soil that doesn't completely dry out. The flowers are smaller than those of its summer relatives, but all the more charming in their delicacy. The 'White Perfume' variety stands out with its pure white color and airy habit, which adds lightness to flower beds. It is also a rewarding plant for cutting, especially for small spring arrangements, which it makes special with its delicate scent. You will thus bring a piece of the awakening forest into your home. Show full description

Hellebore Double Ellen Yellow Spotted, Loukykvět

Helleborus orientalis

Hellebores are evergreen perennials that form slowly expanding clumps of leathery, dark green leaves. The stems usually bear four to five flowers. They bloom very early, already at the end of winter and the beginning of spring. They are usable for a vase only after conspicuous seed pods form in the center of the flower and the flower matures. Earlier, they tend to wilt, and the stems cannot hold the flower upright. All parts of the plant are poisonous. The 'Double Ellen Yellow Spotted' hellebore has light yellow-green semi-double flowers with striking, dark burgundy spotting.

Goat's beard Opulenz, Loukykvět
New

Aruncus aethusifolius

Goatsbeard 'Opulenz' represents an ideal choice for livening up the shadier corners of the garden, where it will form a dense and compact mound. This tiny perennial, originally from Korea, is actually a miniature version of our native standard goatsbeard. It grows to a height of only 20 to 30 centimeters and stands out with its finely divided, fern-like leaves, which form a fresh green undergrowth. In May and June, airy panicles of tiny creamy-white flowers, resembling astilbes, rise above the leaves. A great advantage of this undemanding plant is its all-season effect. After blooming, it decorates the flower bed with its interesting structure, and in autumn, its leaves turn beautiful shades of bronze to orange-red. It loves humous and moister soil in partial shade, so it fits perfectly on the edges of beds, in shady rockeries, or as an underplanting beneath shrubs and trees. It is fully frost-hardy and does not suffer from pests or diseases. The inflorescences can also be used in smaller bouquets, adding lightness and elegance.

Masterwort Star of Love, Loukykvět
New

Astrantia

Masterwort 'Star of Love' is one of those rare treasures that can fully brighten up even slightly shaded places under trees. In nature, it commonly grows in bright clearings, forest edges, and moister meadow stands of Europe, which clearly hints at what suits it. It likes well-drained but nutrient-rich loamy soil that retains moisture. Although it prefers partial shade, it can handle full sun without difficulty; only in such a case will it need more regular watering. You will receive a healthy and strong seedling in a pot from us, which just needs to be planted in its permanent place in the flower bed. You don't have to worry about tedious care; masterwort is an extremely resilient long-lived perennial. Frost down to minus thirty-three degrees will not surprise it at all, and even complete beginners can easily grow it. Only in spring do we recommend watching out for slugs, which occasionally like to feast on its sprouting leaves. The 'Star of Love' variety lives up to its name and stands out with the striking burgundy coloring of its flowers, which bring joy all summer from June to the end of August. They grow on sturdy stems without the need for any support and form dense green clumps reaching a height of roughly sixty centimeters. The flower itself is composed of a delicate central umbel protected by prominent bracts, giving the whole plant a unique look. These burgundy flowers will not escape the attention of pollinators and happily attract bees from the wide surroundings. From a garden use perspective, it is an ideal filler plant for mixed perennial beds, where it introduces an interesting structure when planted at about seven pieces per square meter. Furthermore, it is an absolute hit for lovers of cut flowers. In a vase as part of bouquets, it looks exceptionally delicate and will continue to bring joy for many days. It is also perfectly suited for drying for various floristry ideas. And you can even use its flowers to decorate desserts.

Clematis Praecox, Loukykvět

Clematis jouiniana

The profusely blooming clematis 'Praecox' playfully solves the problem of empty spaces under taller shrubs and trees. It naturally thrives in bright and partially shaded locations with well-drained, loamy, and humus-rich soil. Once you plant this vital perennial in your garden, it will very soon start forming long shoots reaching almost two meters. It does not form climbing tendrils, but its prostrate growth acts as a perfect living carpet that masks bare soil and the dying leaves of spring bulbs. In late summer, the clematis is literally covered with a flood of tiny pale white-blue flowers. These bring a sense of tranquility to the garden and immediately attract bees from far and wide. You can easily cut these flowering stems for a vase, where they give bouquets a relaxed look, or use them for floristic purposes and drying. This completely maintenance-free plant is not bothered by frost or pests, so anyone can manage its care.

Clematis Mrs R. Brydon, Loukykvět

Clematis heracleifolia

Clematis 'Mrs R. Brydon' is an unusual and very resilient perennial that brings softness and color to the garden just as summer transitions into autumn. The original species comes from the shrubby and forest edges of East Asia, which is why a location in the sun or partial shade suits it well here too. It will thrive in loamy and humus-rich soil with regular watering. An interesting feature of this clematis is its variable growth. If you provide it with support in the form of a fence or trellis, it will willingly climb up to a height of two and a half meters. However, if you leave it to grow freely without support, it grows like a carpet and forms a dense shrub. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you can simply transplant straight into the garden. Care is easy, it doesn't suffer from diseases or pests, and even beginners can easily manage it. During August and September, it gets covered in an abundance of flowers in a gorgeous lavender-blue shade, which react to the ambient temperature and can interestingly fade or darken. The flowers reliably attract bees and are suitable for cutting into bouquets. When handling, remember that the plant is poisonous.

Epimedium grandiflorum

Barrenwort Akebono is a true jewel for the shady corners of your garden. These plants naturally grow in the undergrowth of light Asian forests, where they thrive in humous and well-drained soil. This is exactly what makes them an ideal choice for planting under trees or shrubs, where they will form a dense and decorative carpet. The Akebono cultivar will delight you in spring, typically in April and May, with delicate flowers in lilac to light purple shades that give a very fragile and elegant impression. Also interesting is the variability of the leaves, which can emerge with a bronze tinge and turn green later. Even though it looks fragile, it is a very hardy and long-lived perennial that easily handles frosts down to -29 °C. Hyssop Roseus, Loukykvět

Hyssopus officinalis

The Roseus hyssop is an aromatic subshrub whose structure and requirements strongly resemble the popular lavender. It originally comes from the sunny and dry regions of the Mediterranean and Asia Minor, so it thrives best in direct sun here as well. It favors well-drained, sandy, and even nutrient-poor soil, where it easily copes with a lack of moisture. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you simply transplant straight into the flower bed, where it will very soon form a neat, richly branched bush reaching a height of around fifty centimeters. It is an absolutely undemanding plant that is not bothered by diseases or pests, so its cultivation can be easily handled even by complete beginners. It comfortably withstands severe frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees Celsius. In the garden, hyssop finds wide application. It fits perfectly into steppe-character gravel beds and beautifully complements roses or lower ornamental grasses. During the summer until early autumn, the Roseus variety will delight you with a flood of tiny flowers in a delicate light pink shade. These flowers, as well as the narrow green leaves, emit a pleasant spicy fragrance and reliably act as a huge lure for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. Since all parts of the plant are edible, you can also use hyssop in the kitchen as a herb to flavor dishes or prepare a medicinal tea from it. You can also cut the long flowering stems for a vase, where they will add a fine texture and lightness to summer bouquets. Although the flowers are not suitable for drying for floral purposes, the plant will please you in the flower bed even out of season. The inflorescences form an interesting structure which, after the leaves fall and are covered by morning frost, creates a beautiful winter effect. Furthermore, if you provide hyssop with ideal conditions, it will reliably self-seed in its location and remain a solid part of your garden for many years.

Cornflower Amethyst Dream, Loukykvět

Amethyst Dream brings an unusual shade of deep purple into spring and summer beds, which acts very elegantly. This mountain cornflower grows to a height of around half a meter and forms compact clumps of green leaves, from which conspicuous inflorescences grow from May to July. It is an ideal plant for beginner growers, because it does not require any special care and is fully frost-resistant even up to extreme temperatures. Catmint Amelia, Loukykvět

Nepeta racemosa

Catmints are ideal companions for roses, suitable for naturalistic gardens, and lower-growing species fit well in window boxes and pots. Some of them are an irresistible attraction for cats, caused by the hallucinogen nepetalactone. This should be contained in the highest degree in the species Nepeta cataria. Conversely, lemon-scented catmints reportedly do not attract cats. The botanical name Nepeta likely comes from the ancient Etruscan city of Nepet - Nepi in the territory of today's Italian province of Viterbo, where the plant was once cultivated. Nepeta racemosa naturally grows on dry meadows and rocky, stony slopes from the Caucasus to Central Asia. It has aromatic grey-green leaves and forms a tufted semi-circular small bush. Amelia blooms with pale pink florets with a darker purple-colored calyx.

Phlox White Clouds, Loukykvět

Phlox amplifolia

Phlox White Clouds lives up to its name and looks like fluffy white clouds in the garden. It is a native North American species, Phlox amplifolia, which differs from better-known phloxes by its wider leaves and, above all, greater hardiness. It naturalized in European gardens as early as the 19th century and has enjoyed great popularity ever since. It is an ideal perennial for beginners because it tolerates drier soil well and does not suffer as much from fungal diseases. In the garden, it grows to a height of about one meter, making it a perfect fit for the background of perennial beds, where it forms a striking focal point in summer. Its fragrant flowers are literally a magnet for bees and other beneficial insects. Phloxes are also a traditional part of country bouquets. For the longest vase life, which is around 10 days, we recommend cutting the stems when approximately half of the flowers are in bloom. We ideally plant the seedlings in loamy, humus-rich soil in full sun or partial shade.

Blue Moor Grass, Loukykvět

Sesleria caerulea

Blue moor grass is an elegant and undemanding native grass that livens up the spring garden at a time when other plants are just waking up. In the wild, it naturally grows in warmer areas on rocks and sunny slopes with well-drained soil. It forms dense, neat clumps growing to a height of about thirty centimeters. Its main advantage is its striking grayish-green and dark green leaves, which, with sufficient moisture, remain evergreen all year round. During April and May, the moor grass blooms with interesting brown spikelets. The plant is untouched by diseases or pests and handles severe frosts superbly. In August and September, delicate creamy-beige flowers appear above the foliage. These rather subtle spikelets give the plant an elegant, refined look. In the garden, it acts as a perfect filler perennial for sunny or partially shaded spots. Delphinium Highlander Samba, Loukykvět

Delphinium elated

Larkspurs are a classic and at the same time a dominant feature among bedding perennials. We often see them in the company of roses and peonies. To stand out well, they need to be given enough space, and don't forget to fertilize. We can enjoy their beauty in beds, bouquets, and even try drying them; the flowers retain their rich color well. They last 7 days in a vase; they are sensitive to ethylene released from ripening fruit. The Highlander series comes from new Scottish breeding. It expands the color range and brings novel shapes. The flowers are incredibly full, and individual petals are ruffled, which intensifies the impression of fullness even more. They do not form seeds and should therefore be all the more vigorous. Highlander Samba has full white flowers.

Liatris Floristan Violett, Loukykvět

Liatris spicata

An interesting tuberous perennial with flowers blooming from the top down, that is exactly the popular dense blazing star. Precisely because of this rare peculiarity, where its long inflorescences bloom unconventionally from the tip downwards, it earned its fitting alternative Czech name "shorakvět" (top-flower). Its roots reach the sunny prairies and grassy meadows of North America, which is why it thrives most in direct sun in our gardens too. It does best long-term in well-drained, loamy, and humous soil, where it is provided with regular watering. The 'Floristan Violett' variety will brighten any space with a striking dark purple color. Its unusually shaped flowers appear gradually from July to September and confidently attract an abundance of beneficial bees, bumblebees, and butterflies to the garden. We will deliver a grown seedling straight to you in a pot, which is fully ready for immediate planting. Blazing star grows to a height of sixty to ninety centimeters, and its sturdy stems with narrow green leaves stand perfectly straight even without artificial support. It is a completely low-maintenance plant, so even complete beginner gardeners will easily handle growing it. It easily tolerates extreme frosts well below minus thirty degrees and naturally avoids all diseases. You should only be on the lookout if you have field voles in the garden, which may be attracted to its swollen tubers. In perennial beds, it forms beautiful vertical lines and, in a suitable place, willingly self-seeds into the surroundings. Floristically, it is an immensely valuable and rewarding species for any occasion. The dark purple spikes apply excellently in fresh summer bouquets, where they reliably function as a striking structural element. If you prefer dried arrangements, simply cut the blazing star and dry it; it perfectly retains its shape and rich color. But you definitely don't have to harvest everything for the vase. The dry stems left in the beds create a very eye-catching winter effect and give the resting garden a completely new and interesting dimension over the winter.

Siberian Bugloss, Loukykvět

Brunnera sibirica

Siberian bugloss is a hardy perennial that is unfazed even by the shady corners of the garden where other plants fail to thrive. It earned its name thanks to its tiny blue flowers, which are very similar to classic forget-me-nots and bloom in April and May. Unlike its more famous relative, the largeleaf bugloss, this species spreads a bit more vigorously and forms dense stands. Thanks to its underground rhizomes, it works as a great groundcover plant that reliably suppresses weeds under trees or shrubs. Once the plant finishes blooming, all its energy moves into the large, deep green heart-shaped leaves, which quickly grow to their final size. It is an ideal choice for beginners because it handles heavier clay soils excellently and tolerates short-term drought. Furthermore, the flowers are suitable for cutting into spring tied bouquets, where they look very tender and add lightness to the arrangement.

Cultivation

Phlox paniculata

Phlox is originally a perennial native to North America. It soon achieved great popularity in European gardens and has been systematically bred since the 19th century. It is a classic perennial for cutting into bouquets, where, in addition to colorful flowers, it also delights with a gentle fragrance. We harvest as soon as roughly half the flowers in the inflorescence have bloomed; then they last up to 10 days in a vase. Despite efforts to breed the most resistant cultivars, it remains true that Phlox reacts extremely sensitively to climate and soil conditions, so we carefully pay attention to the correct choice of site. The Sweet Summer series includes cultivars bred for greater resistance to fungal diseases. Sweet Summer Ocean is a very special cultivar introduced to the market in 2012. It is characterized by the color variability of flowers during the day. In cool mornings, the flowers are blue; as temperatures rise, they fade, and by noon they transition to purple-pink.

Phlox Franz Schubert, Loukykvět

Phlox paniculata

Phlox, known as 'plamenka' in Czech, is originally a native perennial from the moister meadows and forest edges of North America. It soon achieved great popularity in European gardens and has been systematically bred since the nineteenth century. It is a classic garden perennial that brings a romantic mood and abundant floods of flowers to summer beds. The approximately one meter tall straight stems are adorned with deep green leaves and bear dense inflorescences on top from July to August. At the same time, the whole plant smells very pleasantly, which acts as a reliable magnet for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies from the wide surroundings. Although phlox is very easy to grow and even complete beginners can manage the care, it pays to pay attention to the correct choice of location. We send customers already mature seedlings in a pot, which you can easily transplant directly into the garden. Here, phlox thrives best in a sunny to semi-shady location with loamy, humous, and well-drained soil. It is ideal to keep a spacing of about fifty centimeters when planting so that each clump has enough space to grow. They like plenty of moisture, and stable humidity is important to them. During severe drought, they can react sensitively and be more susceptible to powdery mildew, so they will welcome more abundant watering in the hot summer. Fortunately, you don't have to worry about pests; they avoid it. As for winter, you can throw your worries behind you, because the plant can handle severe frosts down to minus thirty-four degrees. In ornamental beds, phlox stands out both individually in larger groups and in combination with other summer perennials or shorter ornamental grasses. Furthermore, it is an absolutely ideal plant for cutting into vases. It will lend your home not only beautiful pastel colors but also its unmistakable sweet scent. We recommend harvesting stems for bouquets when approximately half of the flowers in the main inflorescence are already fully open. If you provide them with clean water, they will reward you with extraordinary durability and will easily last ten days in a vase. The Franz Schubert variety attracts with purple to pink flowers that fade towards the edges. The pastel color stands out in the vicinity of darker-colored plants.

Phlox Sweet Summer Compact Purple Bicolor, Loukykvět

Phlox paniculata

Garden phlox, often called simply phlox, is a perennial that we immediately associate with country gardens and summer relaxation. It originally comes from the more humid regions of North America, but it naturalized in European gardens back in the nineteenth century, and an endless array of cultivars has been created since then. Phloxes are prized not only for their flood of flowers in the summer but also for their subtle spicy fragrance that wafts through the garden, especially in the early evening. It is a plant that literally magnetizes bees, bumblebees, and other pollinators, bringing a lot of life into the flower bed. In a garden composition, it perfectly complements taller perennials, covering the lower parts of their stems. This specific cultivar from the 'Sweet Summer' series stands out, as the name suggests, with a lower and compact growth of around fifty to sixty centimeters. Its flowers are bicolor with a distinct deep purple eye and edging, which looks very decorative. Despite breeding efforts for maximum resistance, it remains true that phloxes are sensitive to climate and soil conditions. They require humous, loose soil and above all, plenty of moisture. If their roots suffer from drought, they tend to be susceptible to powdery mildew, so provide them with regular watering and a spot in the sun or light partial shade. For lovers of cut flowers, phlox is a clear choice. We harvest it as soon as about half of the flowers in the inflorescence are open, and it will bring you joy in a vase for up to ten days.

Lady's mantle Irish Silk, Loukykvět

Alchemilla mollis

Alchemilla mollis, known as lady's mantle, is an indispensable perennial for anyone who wants to bring harmony and softness to the garden. Its home is the moister environments of mountain meadows and light forests, making it a very adaptable plant that will survive even severe frosts without problems in our climate. Russian Sage, Loukykvět

Perovskia atriplicifolia

Russian sage reliably brings a touch of sunny steppes into the garden and places almost no demands on care. Thanks to its origin, it delights in full sun and poor, well-drained sandy soil with minimal moisture. You will receive from us a well-rooted seedling in a pot, which just needs to be transplanted straight to the chosen spot in the flower bed. It does not need support, is avoided by common pests and diseases, and will survive frosts down to minus twenty-eight degrees. It grows up to one hundred and twenty centimeters and forms striking white felted shoots with silvery grey aromatic leaves. From July to October, it blooms with tiny blue-purple flowers that act as a lure for bees and butterflies and are even edible. Russian sage stands out next to drought-tolerant perennials. Sea Holly, Loukykvět
For drying

Eryngium planum

Sea holly is an indispensable perennial for all lovers of naturally styled gardens. It earned its folk name - male fidelity - in times when it was used in herbal medicine as an aphrodisiac, and its roots were even candied as sweets in France and England. Today, however, you will appreciate it mainly for its low maintenance and unique appearance. Its home is on sunny hillsides and dry meadows, so even in our gardens, it will welcome well-drained, even poorer sandy soil and full sun. It produces upright, sturdy stems topped with blue-purple flowers with prickly bracts, which bring interesting structure and a silvery touch to the flowerbeds. It is literally a magnetic plant for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies, who find a rich food source on it. Floristically, it is extremely valuable, because its flowers are perfectly suited for cutting as well as drying for winter decorations. If you decide not to harvest it, feel free to leave it in the flowerbed all winter. Its silhouette covered in hoarfrost creates a wonderful winter effect. Although it is a short-lived perennial, in a suitable location it reliably self-seeds, so you will enjoy its beauty for many years.

In its natural environment, it grows on open, sunny plains, which is why it thrives best in our gardens in full sun in drier, well-drained soil. You just need to transplant this grown seedling straight into the flower bed, where it will reliably take root. It does not need support, easily withstands severe frosts, and is avoided by common diseases and pests, making it ideal for beginner growers. During June and July, it will reward you with aromatic flowers with unusually narrow and drooping petals in light purple and pink tones. The prominent prickly centers are literally a magnet for bees and bumblebees, and the flowers themselves are surprisingly edible. The plant stands out especially in rustic plantings together with ornamental grasses. Gardeners and florists love it for its versatility. The fresh stems bring joy in a vase for about a week. Moreover, the distinctive central cones hold their shape perfectly, can be perfectly dried for winter decorations, or left in the flower bed, where they will create an eye-catching winter structure under a layer of snow.

Rudbeckia Goldsturm, Loukykvět

Rudbeckia fulgida

Rudbeckia Goldsturm is a reliable and long-lived perennial that will bring the warm tones of late summer and autumn into your garden. It originally comes from the open plains and prairies of North America, so it delights most in sunny locations with common garden soil, whether it is loamy, humus-rich, or clayey. You will receive from us an already grown seedling in a pot, which you just need to transplant to the chosen spot in the flower bed. It is a completely undemanding plant, does not suffer from diseases or pests, and easily survives severe frosts. The Goldsturm cultivar grows to a height of about seventy centimeters and does not need support. From August to October, it produces a flood of golden-yellow flowers with distinctly dark centers. These edible flowers attract pollinators and fit perfectly into both prairie and rustic plantings. Rudbeckia is also great for cutting, lasting around ten days in a vase. In addition, the distinctive dark centers can be easily dried. If you leave them in the flower bed over the winter, they will provide a wonderful spectacle.

Gaura Summer Breeze, Loukykvět

Gaura lindheimeri

The charming gaura comes from the sun-drenched plains of Texas and Louisiana and represents exactly the plant that can liven up any drought-tolerant planting. It is a naturally profusely blooming perennial that delights in full sun and well-drained, sandy, and nutrient-poor soil. You will receive from us an already grown seedling in a pot, which will quickly form a vigorous clump after being transplanted into the garden. From early summer until late autumn, it will delight you with a flood of tiny flowers in pure white and delicate pink tones. The flowers gently sway in the breeze and with their appearance resemble a flock of tiny butterflies, which also really like to land on the plant, as do bees and bumblebees. Although gaura is known as a short-lived perennial, thanks to its willing self-seeding, it will last for many years in your garden. Caring for it is completely undemanding, it is avoided by most diseases and pests, and it can handle frosts down to eighteen degrees below zero without any problems. It is often used in mixed borders, where it beautifully softens the overall impression, and perfectly matches various types of ornamental grasses. The Summer Breeze variety is popular for its strong and healthy growth as well as its exceptionally generous set of flowers, which grow to about one meter. If you like to create your own bouquets, do not hesitate to cut gaura for a vase. Harvesting is best done the moment the first small flowers on the stem begin to open. These delicate flowers are not suitable for drying into dried arrangements, but they will beautifully lighten up fresh bouquets.
