Tato drobná lesní kráska nejlépe poroste v polostinném až stinném stanovišti, ideálně v podrostu pod vyššími keři nebo listnatými stromy. Přímé polední slunce by mohlo její jemné lístky popálit, proto vybírejte místo, kam dopadá spíše rozptýlené světlo nebo ranní sluníčko. Půda by měla být kyprá, humózní a propustná, podobná té, kterou najdete v listnatém lese. Pokud máte na zahradě těžkou jílovitou zeminu, určitě ji před výsadbou vylehčete přimícháním vyzrálého kompostu nebo listovky.
