Phlox amplifolia

Phlox Waupee

Phlox, or garden phlox, is originally a perennial native to North America. In European gardens, it soon achieved great popularity and has been systematically bred since the 19th century. It is a classic perennial for cutting into bouquets, where, in addition to colorful flowers, it also delights with a gentle fragrance. We harvest as soon as roughly half of the flowers in the inflorescence have bloomed; they then last up to 10 days in a vase. Phlox Waupee is a valuable and hardy cultivar. It is popular for its vigorous growth, resistance to fungal diseases, and long flowering period. Pure white flowers stand out against the darker background of taller perennials; among phloxes, it belongs to the more compact varieties. Show full description

Hesperis matronalis

A relatively short-lived, biennial to perennial plant with a charming scent and a long flowering period. A beautiful addition to rose beds, also suitable for country-style plantings. We can use it as undergrowth under taller shrubs and trees. It smells noticeably more in the evening and at night, attracting moths. For cutting, we harvest as soon as the first few florets open. The stems can still grow a bit even after cutting, we take this into account when creating arrangements. It lasts 5 to 7 days in a vase. A beautiful elegant white variant of the original species.

Astilbe simplicifolia

Delicate decorative, long-lived shade-loving perennials with pinnate leaves and magnificent feathery inflorescences. They originate primarily from East Asia, but also from eastern North America. They look best in large-scale plantings. Due to relatively late sprouting, it is good to combine them with early-flowering bulbs. They last 4–10 days in a vase. We harvest as soon as half of the inflorescence is in bloom. They are very sensitive to ethylene released from ripening fruit. A vigorously growing, late-flowering, and tall variety that creates large inflorescences in a warm pink tone.

Brunnera macrophylla

Brunnera is a long-lived perennial originating from mountain meadows and forests of the Caucasus. It is interesting not only when in bloom. The leaves are large, heart-shaped, light green. They form a contrasting background for delicate and tiny flowers that appear above the carpet of leaves from April. It sprouts early and goes dormant late, which makes it a valuable groundcover perennial. The cultivar Betty Bowring has pure white flowers.

Nepeta faassenii

Catmints are ideal companions for roses, suitable for naturalistic gardens, and lower species also for boxes and pots. Some of them are an irresistible attraction for cats, caused by the hallucinogen nepetalactone. This should be present in the highest amount in the species Nepeta cataria. Conversely, lemon-scented catmints reportedly do not attract cats. The botanical name Nepeta likely comes from the name of the ancient Etruscan city Nepet - Nepi in the territory of today's Italian province of Viterbo, where the plant was once cultivated. The faassenii group is characterized by vigorous upright growth, fine foliage, and long stems suitable for cutting. Six Hills Giant has a slightly lighter flower color than Walker's Low. It grows in airy clumps and blooms very profusely. Long stems suitable for cutting.

Helleborus orientalis

Hellebores are evergreen perennials that form slowly spreading clumps of leathery, dark green leaves. The stems usually bear four to five flowers. They bloom very early, as early as late winter and early spring. They are usable for vases only after conspicuous seed pods form in the center of the flower and the flower matures. Earlier, they tend to wilt and the stems cannot hold the flower in an upright position. All parts of the plant are poisonous. The semi-double flowers of the hellebore Double Ellen Picotee color into white and light pink with purple-burgundy edging.

For Drying

Limonium sinuatum

Divine color cocktail of sunset colors! Statice is a classic from grandma's garden, but also an evergreen of dried flowers. We grow statice by the hundreds! It is incredibly useful in bouquets as filler material and even undried lasts a long time in a vase. Once all the florets on the stem bloom, statice no longer wilts and is suitable for wreaths, corsages, boutonnieres. One plant produces at least 15 stems. For drying, we harvest statice at the stage when the stem under the flower is firm and the entire inflorescence has bloomed. Just hang them upside down, in a dry and ventilated place, out of sunlight.

Cultivation

Zálivka, hnojení a údržba
V nádobách substrát vysychá mnohem rychleji, proto v horkých dnech zalévejte i denně.
Přezimování a jarní péče

The information given is based on our experience, please use it as a guide only. Times may vary depending on the season, climate, location, sowing and transplanting dates and possibly also the conditions in the greenhouse/greenhouse. We always recommend testing how the plant performs in your conditions. Please do not take this as a guarantee.

We harvest as soon as roughly half the flowers in the inflorescence have bloomed; then they last up to 10 days in a vase. Despite efforts to breed the most resistant cultivars, it remains true that Phlox reacts extremely sensitively to climate and soil conditions, so we carefully pay attention to the correct choice of site. The Sweet Summer series includes cultivars bred for greater resistance to fungal diseases. The Sweet Summer Fragrance cultivar has sweet pink flowers, lighter to white in the center with a purple eye.

Earlier, they tend to wilt and the stems cannot hold the flower in an upright position. All parts of the plant are poisonous. Double Ellen White is an almost pure white, double-flowered hellebore.
