Phlox Lilac Cloud, Loukykvět

Phlox douglasii

Phlox Lilac Cloud

The tiny but unmissable phlox 'Lilac Cloud' will bring a flood of flowers in delicate light purple shades to your garden. Its natural home is the rocky plains in the west of North America, from where it took its extraordinary modesty. In the garden, it will appreciate well-drained soil and a place where the sun shines for most of the day. A healthy seedling in a pot, ready for transplanting, will arrive at your home. It is an exceptionally resilient perennial that is not harmed by extreme winters and does not suffer from diseases or pests. It grows to just under ten centimeters and forms dense carpets. During spring, the 'Lilac Cloud' cultivar is literally covered with flowers, on which bees and bumblebees love to feast. These tiny flowers are not meant for a vase or for drying; their main task is to line flower beds, beautify rockeries, or fill gaps between stones. Furthermore, it retains its green structure all year round. Show full description

Woodland Sage Amethyst, Loukykvět

Salvia nemorosa

This species of sage originates from the steppe regions of Central and Eastern Europe. It forms profusely flowering small clumps with straight, upright stems. In flower beds, it looks best in groups. It is traditionally planted as a companion to roses due to the matching flowering time. However, it looks equally good in mixed drought-tolerant steppe plantings with grasses. It is an excellent food source for bees. Lasts 7 days in a vase. Amethyst is an elegant variety with long stems and a pink flower color that is unusual for sages.

Gaura Siskiyou Pink, Loukykvět

Gaura lindheimeri

Gaura Siskiyou Pink is a charming perennial that brings lightness and airiness to the garden. Its original native area is in the warm regions of Texas and Louisiana, which is why it thrives in full sun and well-drained sandy soil. It grows in clumps and from June until the autumn frosts produces tiny raspberry-pink flowers that resemble fluttering butterflies. An interesting detail of this variety is the green leaves with a bronze tint and red spots. It is an absolutely undemanding plant, does not suffer from diseases or pests, and even beginners can handle its care. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you simply need to transplant directly into the flowerbed. Here it complements ornamental grasses perfectly and acts as an attraction for bees and bumblebees. Although it grows more as a short-lived perennial in our climate, in a suitable place it reliably self-seeds. Occasional pinching will encourage richer branching. Gaura is excellent for summer bouquets. We cut the stems for a vase as soon as the first two to three little flowers open.

Phlox Sweet Summer Compact Purple Bicolor, Loukykvět

Phlox paniculata

Garden phlox, often called simply phlox, is a perennial that we immediately associate with country gardens and summer relaxation. It originally comes from the more humid regions of North America, but it naturalized in European gardens back in the nineteenth century, and an endless array of cultivars has been created since then. Phloxes are prized not only for their flood of flowers in the summer but also for their subtle spicy fragrance that wafts through the garden, especially in the early evening. It is a plant that literally magnetizes bees, bumblebees, and other pollinators, bringing a lot of life into the flower bed. In a garden composition, it perfectly complements taller perennials, covering the lower parts of their stems. This specific cultivar from the 'Sweet Summer' series stands out, as the name suggests, with a lower and compact growth of around fifty to sixty centimeters. Its flowers are bicolor with a distinct deep purple eye and edging, which looks very decorative. Despite breeding efforts for maximum resistance, it remains true that phloxes are sensitive to climate and soil conditions. They require humous, loose soil and above all, plenty of moisture. If their roots suffer from drought, they tend to be susceptible to powdery mildew, so provide them with regular watering and a spot in the sun or light partial shade. For lovers of cut flowers, phlox is a clear choice. We harvest it as soon as about half of the flowers in the inflorescence are open, and it will bring you joy in a vase for up to ten days.

Feather grass Pony Tails, Loukykvět

Stipa tenuissima

Feather grass flowers capture attention in beds and bouquets with their lightness and delicacy. All feather grasses love full sun and dry, stony, well-drained soil. To look most natural in beds, it is good to plant them in loose groups of several pieces together with other drought-loving perennials and bulbs. Only then do their stems and inflorescences, set in motion by the slightest breath of wind, truly stand out. Stipa 'Ponny Tails' is a species native to the steppes of Mexico, Texas, and Patagonia. Airy, dense clumps of hair-like delicate leaves resemble horsehair. The leaves are green, turning up to straw-colored towards the flowers. In a suitable location, it also self-seeds.

The inflorescences initially have a soft pink tinge, then change color to yellow-brown or reddish-brown.

Knautia Red Knight, Loukykvět

Knautia macedonica

Macedonian scabious is an abundantly and long-blooming, undemanding perennial that will bring the untamed charm of summer meadows to the garden. Its wild form originates from the sun-drenched Balkans, where it naturally grows on sunny hillsides and in warm thickets. You will receive from us a mature seedling in a pot, which just needs to be transplanted into well-drained loamy or sandy soil in the sun or partial shade. Here it will quickly take root and form a vigorous clump. The Red Knight cultivar enchants with slender stems up to ninety centimeters tall, which all summer from June to September carry a flood of dark burgundy to deep wine-red flowers. These edible flowers act as a huge attraction for bees, bumblebees, and other insects. The plant is an ideal choice for beginners because it reliably resists frosts down to minus twenty-eight degrees and does not suffer from any pests or diseases. Although it belongs to short-lived perennials, in a suitable place it gladly self-seeds. It will fit perfectly into naturalistically designed plantings with ornamental grasses and is popularly used in sweeping meadow bouquets. We recommend cutting the flowers fully open; they will then stay beautifully fresh in a vase for several days.

Columbine Kristall, Loukykvět

Aquilegia vulgaris

The common columbine is a versatile perennial that will reliably inhabit both rural and modern flowerbeds. In the wild, it grows on the edges of forests and in light groves across all of Europe, which is why it thrives best in the garden in full sun to partial shade and ordinary loamy soil rich in humus. Its main charm lies in its unusually shaped flowers, but it is also valuable for its very early sprouting green leaves, which awaken the garden after winter. You will receive a beautifully grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant to your chosen spot. Although the plant is poisonous, it represents a huge asset for gardeners. Even complete beginners can manage growing it, pests avoid it, and it easily survives severe frosts dropping to minus thirty-four degrees. During May and June, delicate flowers bloom on sturdy, sixty to eighty-centimeter-tall stems, bringing typical airiness and lightness to the planting. The 'Kristall' cultivar is a large-flowered variety that stands out with pure white flowers and prominent spurs. These act as a reliable magnet for bees, bumblebees, and other beneficial pollinators. Keep in mind that in a favorable location, columbine very willingly self-seeds, taking care of natural-looking wild stands. It works well in perennial beds and as an undergrowth beneath taller shrubs. If you like bringing a piece of the garden home, columbine certainly won't disappoint you. It is perfectly suited for cutting and will bring a novel structure to spring bouquets. Fresh flowers will bring you joy in a vase for about seven days. If you leave some of the flowers to finish blooming on the flowerbed, they will form interesting seed pods, which are highly popular among florists for creating various natural decorations and can also be dried well. Just watch out for the occasional occurrence of powdery mildew during the drier months, but otherwise, the plant needs almost no care.

Barren strawberry, Loukykvět
New

Waldsteinia ternata

Barren strawberry is the perfect solution for places in the garden where neither lawn nor other sun-loving plants thrive. This tough perennial originates from the forest undergrowth of the temperate zone from Europe to Siberia, and therefore feels right at home in shade and partial shade. It is valued primarily for its glossy, dark green leaves resembling strawberry foliage, which remain on the plant over the winter, thus creating an attractive, dense carpet all year round. Thanks to its ability to spread quickly, it acts as a reliable groundcover plant that effectively suppresses weed growth and retains moisture in the soil. During April and May, the dark greenery lights up with an abundance of tiny, golden-yellow flowers. Although barren strawberry is not intended for cutting into a vase or for drying, its ornamental value directly in the bed is irreplaceable. Additionally, the flowers attract bees and other beneficial insects. It is an extremely low-maintenance and long-lived plant that does not suffer from diseases or pests and handles frosts down to -34 °C. Just provide it with humus-rich, well-draining soil and occasional watering, and you will gain a maintenance-free decoration for shady corners, slopes, or undergrowth beneath trees.

Bleeding Heart, Loukykvět

Dicentra spectabilis

The original home of bleeding hearts is Korea and China, where they grow in light deciduous forests. They are classic garden perennials. They will look perfect in nostalgically styled flower beds; the white variant fits well even into naturalistic woodland gardens. They are popular for their heart-shaped flowers hanging on horizontal or arching stems. These weaken and die back some time after flowering; all the plant's energy then concentrates in the roots, and at that moment, we can cut the above-ground part back completely. For the rest of the year, we won't even know the bleeding heart is in the garden. It will remind us of its charm again in the spring. Perfect vase life, at least 7 days. Earlier, they tend to wilt and the stems cannot hold the flower in an upright position. All parts of the plant are poisonous. Double Ellen White is an almost pure white, double-flowered hellebore. Geum Mai Tai, Loukykvět

Geum rivale

Avens Mai Tai is a charming spring perennial that brings a romantic touch to the garden with its adorable cup-shaped flowers. The original species often grows near streams and in moister meadows, so it will easily settle in our gardens in sun or partial shade, where well-drained, loamy, and slightly humous soil will suit it best. You will receive a rooted seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant into the flowerbed. Avens forms nice basal clumps of green leaves, which over time function as an excellent ground cover. Its growth is reliable and its care is downright undemanding, because the plant is not bothered by pests or diseases and withstands frosts down to minus twenty-eight degrees. It stands out best when you plant it in smaller groups about thirty centimeters apart. From May to July, richly branched stems bearing semi-double flowers with gently ruffled petals appear above the foliage. The Mai Tai cultivar, which was bred in the USA in 2005, is characterized by its amazing color variability. It blooms in peach tones with a pink tint and gradually transitions into more muted pastel, salmon, and apricot shades. Blooming avens is a huge attraction for insects, especially for butterflies. We cut the stems for a vase when roughly a quarter to half of the flowers on the stem are open. They will stay beautiful in water for approximately seven days and add lightness and movement to an arrangement. However, its flowers are not suitable for drying. Although it is more of a short-lived perennial, it will bring you a lot of joy in the flowerbed with its rich flowers and undemanding nature.

It is a classic perennial that many remember from our grandmothers' gardens, but it also has its place in modern plantings. Coral bells Silver Scrolls, Loukykvět
New

Heuchera hybrida

Coral bells 'Silver Scrolls' will brighten up even the shadiest corners of your garden with its unusually colored leaves. The 'Silver Scrolls' cultivar is exceptional for its silvery gray leaves, which have a distinct burgundy shade on the underside. During May to July, thin stems growing up to sixty centimeters emerge from the center of the plant, on which tiny, pure white and light pink flowers appear. These edible flowers act as a great attraction for bees and other pollinators. If you like decorating your home, you can use the stems with flowers for cutting into spring and summer bouquets. While they are not suitable for drying for floristry purposes, the plant will ensure a beautiful winter effect in the flower bed because its colorful leaves remain attractive even under a layer of snow. Phlox Franz Schubert, Loukykvět

Phlox paniculata

Phlox, known as 'plamenka' in Czech, is originally a native perennial from the moister meadows and forest edges of North America. It soon achieved great popularity in European gardens and has been systematically bred since the nineteenth century. It is a classic garden perennial that brings a romantic mood and abundant floods of flowers to summer beds. The approximately one meter tall straight stems are adorned with deep green leaves and bear dense inflorescences on top from July to August. At the same time, the whole plant smells very pleasantly, which acts as a reliable magnet for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies from the wide surroundings. Although phlox is very easy to grow and even complete beginners can manage the care, it pays to pay attention to the correct choice of location. We send customers already mature seedlings in a pot, which you can easily transplant directly into the garden. Here, phlox thrives best in a sunny to semi-shady location with loamy, humous, and well-drained soil. It is ideal to keep a spacing of about fifty centimeters when planting so that each clump has enough space to grow. They like plenty of moisture, and stable humidity is important to them. During severe drought, they can react sensitively and be more susceptible to powdery mildew, so they will welcome more abundant watering in the hot summer. Fortunately, you don't have to worry about pests; they avoid it. As for winter, you can throw your worries behind you, because the plant can handle severe frosts down to minus thirty-four degrees. In ornamental beds, phlox stands out both individually in larger groups and in combination with other summer perennials or shorter ornamental grasses. Furthermore, it is an absolutely ideal plant for cutting into vases. It will lend your home not only beautiful pastel colors but also its unmistakable sweet scent. We recommend harvesting stems for bouquets when approximately half of the flowers in the main inflorescence are already fully open. Salvia Dancing Dolls, Loukykvět

Salvia gregii

*Salvia greggii*, often called autumn sage, is, in the case of the 'Dancing Dolls' cultivar, a tireless bloomer that will adorn your garden containers with flowers from late spring until freezing. Its homeland is the semi-desert regions of North America, so it loves sun, heat, and a drier, well-drained substrate. It grows as a low, densely branched subshrub that is easy to shape and maintain. Although cultivation is undemanding and suitable even for beginners, it is necessary to keep its limited frost hardiness in mind. In Czech conditions, this sage is best used as a dominant feature in pots on terraces, which you can easily move to a frost-free space for the winter, or it can be planted in very sheltered, sunny flower beds with high-quality drainage and a winter cover. The 'Dancing Dolls' variety brings playfulness and softness to plantings thanks to the unique coloration of its flowers, which alternate tones of pastel pink with creamy white. The tiny lipped flowers grow in abundance at the ends of upright stems and create a very airy impression. In addition to its aesthetic value, this plant is also useful – its strongly aromatic leaves and sweet flowers are edible and can be used in the kitchen as an original garnish for dishes. At the same time, it is a valuable honey-bearing plant that will reliably attract beneficial insects to your garden. The plant does not suffer from diseases or pests, so you can enjoy its beauty without the need for complex protection.

We harvest as soon as roughly half the flowers in the inflorescence have bloomed; then they last up to 10 days in a vase. Despite efforts to breed the most resistant cultivars, it remains true that Phlox reacts extremely sensitively to climate and soil conditions, so we carefully pay attention to the correct choice of site. The Sweet Summer series includes cultivars bred for greater resistance to fungal diseases. Sweet Summer Ocean is a very special cultivar introduced to the market in 2012. It is characterized by the color variability of flowers during the day. In cool mornings, the flowers are blue; as temperatures rise, they fade, and by noon they transition to purple-pink.

If you provide them with clean water, they will reward you with extraordinary durability and will easily last ten days in a vase. The Franz Schubert variety attracts with purple to pink flowers that fade towards the edges. The pastel color stands out in the vicinity of darker-colored plants.

Phlox amplifolia

Phlox White Clouds lives up to its name and looks like fluffy white clouds in the garden. It naturalized in European gardens as early as the 19th century and has enjoyed great popularity ever since. It is an ideal perennial for beginners because it tolerates drier soil well and does not suffer as much from fungal diseases. In the garden, it grows to a height of about one meter, making it a perfect fit for the background of perennial beds, where it forms a striking focal point in summer. Its fragrant flowers are literally a magnet for bees and other beneficial insects. Phloxes are also a traditional part of country bouquets.

Gaura lindheimeri

The charming gaura comes from the sun-drenched plains of Texas and Louisiana and represents exactly the plant that can liven up any drought-tolerant planting. It is a naturally profusely blooming perennial that delights in full sun and well-drained, sandy, and nutrient-poor soil. You will receive from us an already grown seedling in a pot, which will quickly form a vigorous clump after being transplanted into the garden. From early summer until late autumn, it will delight you with a flood of tiny flowers in pure white and delicate pink tones. The flowers gently sway in the breeze and with their appearance resemble a flock of tiny butterflies, which also really like to land on the plant, as do bees and bumblebees. Although gaura is known as a short-lived perennial, thanks to its willing self-seeding, it will last for many years in your garden. Caring for it is completely undemanding, it is avoided by most diseases and pests, and it can handle frosts down to eighteen degrees below zero without any problems. It is often used in mixed borders, where it beautifully softens the overall impression, and perfectly matches various types of ornamental grasses. The Summer Breeze variety is popular for its strong and healthy growth as well as its exceptionally generous set of flowers, which grow to about one meter. If you like to create your own bouquets, do not hesitate to cut gaura for a vase. Harvesting is best done the moment the first small flowers on the stem begin to open. These delicate flowers are not suitable for drying into dried arrangements, but they will beautifully lighten up fresh bouquets.

Calamint Blue Cloud, Loukykvět

Calamintha nepeta

Lesser calamint Blue Cloud is an undemanding and modest perennial that reliably perfumes any sunny garden. Its original homeland is the sunny and dry slopes of Southern Europe, which is why it thrives best here in direct sun in well-drained, sandy, or poorer loamy soil. It handles winter without problems, tolerating frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant straight into the flowerbed, where it will very soon form a compact, airy small shrub reaching a height of up to forty centimeters. It does not suffer from any diseases or pests, so even complete beginners can easily handle caring for it. Throughout late summer and into autumn, it blooms with a record number of tiny blue flowers that are so typical of the Blue Cloud variety. The whole plant emits a pleasant minty-spicy scent, and its flowers, which resemble thyme, act as a literal magnet for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. It will look great among roses or in naturally designed steppe flowerbeds, where it naturally complements lower ornamental grasses. Additionally, both the blue flowers and green leaves are edible, so you can use them to garnish summer dishes. Lesser calamint is also excellently suited for cutting into smaller fresh bouquets, adding a fine structure to them in a vase.
