Wild Heucheras come from the wooded and rocky areas of North America, where they naturally grow in the undergrowth of taller trees. That is why they will be best off in partial shade or shade in your garden. From the supplied grown seedling in a pot, which you simply transplant straight into the flower bed, a rich clump will quickly grow. It likes well-drained, humus-rich soil with moderate but regular watering. Even a complete beginner can manage growing it; it needs no support and playfully resists severe frosts down to minus thirty-four degrees. The 'Silver Scrolls' cultivar is exceptional for its silvery gray leaves, which have a distinct burgundy shade on the underside. During May to July, thin stems growing up to sixty centimeters emerge from the center of the plant, on which tiny, pure white and light pink flowers appear. These edible flowers act as a great attraction for bees and other pollinators. If you like decorating your home, you can use the stems with flowers for cutting into spring and summer bouquets. While they are not suitable for drying for floristry purposes, the plant will ensure a beautiful winter effect in the flower bed because its colorful leaves remain attractive even under a layer of snow. It is a short-lived perennial that does not self-seed. To achieve a continuous cover, we recommend planting roughly six to nine plants per square meter, ideally at a distance of thirty to forty centimeters apart. Sazenici dlužichy 'Silver Scrolls' vysazujte ideálně do polostínu nebo stínu, kde její stříbřitě šedé listy s vínovým rubem nejlépe vyniknou. Pochází z lesních podrostů, takže jí vyhovuje chladnější stanoviště a propustná, na humus bohatá půda. Z dodané vzrostlé sazenice v květináči vám rychle vyroste bohatý trs, který nepotřebuje žádnou oporu. Pro dosažení pěkného souvislého porostu doporučujeme vysazovat šest až devět rostlin na metr čtvereční, a to ve vzdálenosti třicet až čtyřicet centimetrů od sebe. Správný rozestup je důležitý pro dobrou cirkulaci vzduchu, což skvěle funguje jako prevence proti houbovým chorobám.
Zálivku udržujte mírnou, ale pravidelnou. Dlužicha špatně snáší přemokření, ve kterém by jí mohly uhnívat kořeny, proto se vyhněte těžkým a nepropustným půdám. Tuto atraktivní trvalku můžete naprosto bez obav pěstovat i v nádobách nebo okrasných truhlících na stinnějším balkóně či terase. Při pěstování v květináči pouze dbejte na to, aby měla nádoba na dně odtokové otvory a kvalitní drenážní vrstvu, která spolehlivě odvede přebytečnou vodu. Během sezóny můžete rostlinu podpořit občasným přihnojením běžným hnojivem pro trvalky nebo lehkým přidáním vyzrálého kompostu do vrchní vrstvy půdy.
Jedná se o krátkověkou trvalku, která je velmi nenáročná a hravě odolá silným mrazům až do neuvěřitelných minus třiceti čtyř stupňů. Brzy na jaře odstraňte odumřelé nebo poškozené listy, abyste podpořili růst nových. Během května až července vyhání ze středu rostliny tenké stonky vysoké až šedesát centimetrů, na kterých se objevují bílá a světle růžová kvítka lákající včely. Odkvetlé stonky můžete odstraňovat, případně si je nastříhat do vázy. Během roku občas zkontrolujte, zda si na rostlině nepochutnává škůdce lalokonosec, a každé tři roky trs rozdělte, čímž rostlinu spolehlivě omladíte.
