Coral Bells macrorrhiza
Heuchera with velvety soft green leaves. It forms leaf rosettes composed of relatively large bright green leaves. Thanks to their size, they cover the ground well. It tends to look nice even in winter. It is also valuable for florists for its long stems with whitish flowers. In beds, it combines well with grasses and other foliage perennials. It usually blooms in the second year after sowing.

Vaši novou dlužichu obdržíte jako pěkně narostlou sazenici, kterou můžete ihned zasadit do záhonu nebo prostorného truhlíku na terase. Nejlepší místo pro ni najdete v polostínu, případně na slunci, pokud jí v parném létě zajistíte dostatečnou zálivku. Důležité je připravit jí hlinitou a dobře propustnou půdu, protože těžké a trvale zamokřené zeminy zkrátka nesnáší. Sázejte ji na vzdálenost 40 až 50 centimetrů od okolních rostlin. Tento rozestup zaručí, že se sazenice brzy spojí do zapojeného porostu, ale zároveň si udrží dostatečnou cirkulaci vzduchu.
Tato trvalka je proslulá svou naprostou nenáročností a výborným zdravotním stavem. Během pěstování vás mile překvapí tím, že netrpí na žádné běžné choroby a s přehledem se jí vyhýbají i zahradní škůdci. Zálivku udržujte střední, i když po dobrém zakořenění zvládne dlužicha v lehkém stínu i delší období sucha. Během podzimu (v září a říjnu) vás odmění vzdušnými květenstvími, která dorůstají výšky 40 až 60 centimetrů. Jsou obrovským lákadlem pro včely a čmeláky, ale perfektně se hodí i k řezu do podzimních aranžmá.
Zazimování a jarní údržba dlužichy nevyžadují žádné složité postupy, takže je hravě zvládne každý:
- Zimní ochrana: Tato vytrvalá rostlina naprosto bez problémů zvládá kruté mrazy až do -28 °C. Na podzim pouze doporučujeme k oddenkům nahrnout suché spadané listí, které zafunguje jako skvělá izolace.
- Jarní řez a údržba: Jakmile na jaře povolí největší mrazy, pečlivě projděte trsy a ručně nebo zahradnickými nůžkami odstraňte všechny staré, oschlé a nevzhledné listy. Rostlina díky tomuto jednoduchému kroku mnohem rychleji nasadí čerstvé a vitální olistění pro novou sezónu.
Velmi častým dotazem je pěstování dlužichy v nádobách. K tomuto účelu je varieta macrorrhiza jako stvořená! V květináči vytvoří krásný podrost pod vyššími rostlinami nebo vynikne i samostatně díky svým strukturovaným listům. Zásadní je použití nádoby s odtokovými dírkami a opravdu propustného substrátu. Rostliny v květináči mají pochopitelně omezený prostor pro kořeny, proto je v létě nezapomeňte častěji zalévat. Před zimou je vhodné květináč obalit jutou nebo jej přesunout blíž ke stěně domu, aby substrát v nádobě nepromrzl skrz naskrz.

Gaura is a clump-forming perennial native to Texas and Louisiana. Here, it behaves more like a short-lived perennial. It combines beautifully with grasses and adds lightness and airiness to flower beds. It is an excellent food source for insects. Tiny flowers resembling small butterflies bloom tirelessly from June until the first frosts. For bouquets, harvest as soon as the first two or three flowers open on the stem. Siskiyou Pink is a beautiful variety with pink-red flowers on slightly arching stems. It is less hardy than the white-flowering varieties. The red-spotted leaves are also interesting.

This species of sage originally comes from the steppe regions of Central and Eastern Europe. It forms profusely flowering small clumps with straight upright stems. In flower beds, it looks best in groups. Traditionally, due to the identical flowering time, it is planted as a companion to roses. However, it will look just as good in mixed drought-loving steppe plantings with grasses. It lasts 7 days in a vase. The cultivar Caradonna stands out with a long flowering period and dark, almost black-purple stems with tiny purple flowers and dark purple bracts. If we cut it back after flowering, it will bloom again in late August and September.

It has a semi-double pure white flower, often with inner twisted petals, and compact, strictly upright growth. The flowers are very durable.

Fernleaf Yarrow originates from the Caucasus and Central Asia. Unlike Common Yarrow, it grows in clumps and is also suitable for drying. Cutting back soon after flowering encourages re-blooming. However, if you decide to leave the spent stems in the beds, you gain a perfect structure that remains impressive long into winter. The leaves of this species emit a typical bitter Yarrow aroma. It lasts 10 days in a vase.
