We recommend planting Apricot Impression tulip bulbs in the autumn, ideally from September to November, before the soil permanently freezes. Store the supplied large bulbs in a dry, cool, and dark place until planting. The planting process itself is very easy and can be managed easily by a complete beginner. For the best results, focus on these basic conditions:
During spring growth and flowering in April and May, tulips only need moderate watering. Waterlogging does not suit them, as it can lead to the development of fungal diseases like grey mold or fusarium. Sturdy stems reach a height of 50 to 60 centimeters and get along entirely without support. The flowers are a great magnet for spring pollinators and, thanks to their sturdiness, are absolutely ideal for cutting into vases. Plants do not need to be pinched back at all. However, watch out for field voles, which like to snack on the bulbs. Reliable protection can be planting in special plastic bulb baskets.
After flowering, it is crucial to let the green leaves naturally yellow and dry out. Thanks to them, the plant pulls nutrients back into the bulb, which ensures its strength for flowering in the following year. Although it is a short-lived perennial, with proper care, it will delight you for several seasons. Overwintering does not require any special steps. The bulbs are extremely frost-hardy and will survive temperatures dropping as low as -40 °C in the soil without any issues. Thus, they can safely stay exactly where you planted them in the autumn through the winter.
The information given is based on our experience, please use it as a guide only. Times may vary depending on the season, climate, location, sowing and transplanting dates and possibly also the conditions in the greenhouse/greenhouse. We always recommend testing how the plant performs in your conditions. Please do not take this as a guarantee.
