Pěstování tulipánů Double Sugar je snadné a hravě ho zvládne i začínající zahradník. Pro bohatou násadu těch nejkrásnějších pastelově růžových květů vyberte slunné až polostinné místo. Půda musí být propustná a bohatá na humus. Vyhněte se místům, kde se dlouhodobě drží voda, aby nedošlo k uhnívání cibulí. Před výsadbou je ideální záhon zrýt a půdu provzdušnit.
Cibule vysazujeme vždy na podzim, od září do listopadu, aby měly dostatek času zakořenit před příchodem prvních mrazů. Do doby výsadby uchovávejte cibule na temném a chladném místě. Při samotném sázení pamatujte na několik základních pravidel:
- Hloubka výsadby by se měla pohybovat mezi 10 až 15 centimetry.
- Rozestupy mezi cibulemi udržujte zhruba 10 až 15 centimetrů (50 až 70 kusů na m²).
- Cibuli vždy vkládejte do jamky špičkou směřující vzhůru.
- Pokud máte v zahradě problém s hraboši polními, doporučujeme cibule sázet do děrovaných plastových košíčků, které je před těmito škůdci spolehlivě ochrání.
V jarních měsících, kdy tulipány raší a následně v dubnu a květnu kvetou, ocení mírnou zálivku. Stonky dorůstají výšky 30 až 45 centimetrů, jsou dostatečně pevné a nevyžadují žádnou oporu. Květy jsou vynikající k řezu do vázy, kde vydrží dlouho svěží. Pokud je necháváte na záhonu, po odkvětu odlomte pouze hlavičku s tvořícím se semeníkem.
Zelené listy nikdy neodstraňujte předčasně. Nechte je na záhonu přirozeně zežloutnout a zaschnout – jedině tak cibule získá zpět sílu pro kvetení v příštím roce. Tulipány jsou extrémně mrazuvzdorné (až do -40 °C) a zimu přečkají v půdě bez jakékoliv další ochrany. Jelikož se však jedná o krátkověké trvalky, pro prevenci chorob (jako je šedá hniloba či virus mozaiky) a zachování velkých květů je dobré cibule po zaschnutí listů v létě vyjmout, uskladnit v suchu a na podzim je zasadit na nové, odpočinuté místo.
