Cultivation
Pěstování tohoto voňavého tulipánu zvládne hravě i úplný začátečník, pokud dodrží několik základních postupů. Jakmile obdržíte velké a zdravé cibule, naplánujte si jejich výsadbu na podzimní měsíce, nejlépe na září, říjen nebo listopad. Najděte na zahradě místo, kam přes den svítí slunce nebo kde je lehký polostín. Půda by měla být hlinitá, bohatá na živiny a hlavně dobře propustná. Pokud máte na zahradě spíše těžkou a jílovitou zeminu, určitě do ní před výsadbou přimíchejte trochu písku nebo drobného štěrku. Tím zajistíte lepší odtok přebytečné vody a zabráníte tak riziku uhnívání cibulí během vlhčích měsíců.
Pro samotnou výsadbu si připravte jamky hluboké 10 až 15 centimetrů. Cibule do nich ukládejte vždy plošší částí s kořínky dolů a špičkou nahoru. Rozestupy mezi jednotlivými rostlinami udržujte v rozmezí 10 až 15 centimetrů. Po zasazení můžete záhon mírně zalít, aby půda lépe přilnula k cibulím. Přes zimu už rostlina žádnou další péči nevyžaduje a zimních mrazů se obávat rozhodně nemusíte. Tento druh je totiž plně mrazuvzdorný až do úctyhodných -40 °C, takže mrazivé měsíce v půdě přečká v naprostém bezpečí a bez nutnosti jakéhokoliv přikrývání chvojím.
Na jaře, jakmile se objeví první zelené listy, je důležité zajistit tulipánům přiměřenou vláhu. Květy se otevírají v dubnu a květnu a díky silným stonkům vysokým až 45 centimetrů se výborně hodí k řezu. Během jarních dešťů rostliny občas zkontrolujte. Při přílišném mokru se může objevit šedá hniloba, což je běžné houbové onemocnění trápící cibuloviny v přemokřené půdě. Dalším rizikem je virová mozaika, která se projevuje nepravidelným slábnutím a kroucením rostliny. Protože jde o krátkověkou trvalku, je pro udržení vitálního růstu v dalších letech nezbytné nechat po odkvětu všechny listy přirozeně odumřít. Odstraňte pouze opadané květy, ale zelené části nechte na místě, dokud samy nezaschnou, čímž se cibule připraví na další sezónu.
