Amethyst Dream brings an unusual shade of deep purple into spring and summer beds, which acts very elegantly. This mountain cornflower grows to a height of around half a meter and forms compact clumps of green leaves, from which conspicuous inflorescences grow from May to July. It is an ideal plant for beginner growers, because it does not require any special care and is fully frost-resistant even up to extreme temperatures. Common loamy and well-draining soil in the sun or in partial shade suits it. Unlike classic blue cornflowers, this cultivar is richer and more color-stable. You can cut the flowers into a vase without worries, where they will last fresh for about a week, or use them in the kitchen, because they are edible. In perennial compositions, it excellently functions as a connecting element between taller and shorter plants and its flowers reliably attract beneficial insects.

Pěstování této horské chrpy je radost i pro úplné začátečníky, protože vyžaduje jen minimum pozornosti. Amethyst Dream miluje slunná stanoviště, ale bez problémů poroste i v polostínu, kde bude její tmavě fialová barva působit velmi sytě. Půda by měla být propustná a spíše hlinitá. Protože vám dorazí jako hotová sazenice, odpadá složité předpěstování. Stačí vykopat jamku o něco větší, než je kořenový bal, vložit rostlinu, přihrnout zeminou a důkladně zalít. Pokud plánujete plošnou výsadbu, sázejte rostliny ve vzdálenosti asi 40 cm od sebe, aby se později vzájemně netísnily.
Během sezóny si rostlina žádá běžnou zálivku, zejména v horkých letních dnech. Není však náročná na živiny a v příliš vyhnojené půdě by mohla ztrácet svůj pevný tvar. Klíčovým momentem údržby je odstranění odkvetlých stonků. Pokud chcete rostlinu udržet vitální a úhlednou, po hlavním kvetení v červenci ji sestřihněte. Zabráníte tím tvorbě semen, rostlina se nevysílí a naopak vytvoří svěží trs listů, který bude zdobit záhon až do podzimu. Conversely, lemon-scented catmints reportedly do not attract cats. The botanical name Nepeta likely comes from the name of the ancient Etruscan city Nepet - Nepi in the territory of today's Italian province of Viterbo, where the plant was once cultivated. Nepeta racemosa naturally grows on dry meadows and rocky, stony slopes from the Caucasus to Central Asia. It has aromatic grey-green leaves and forms a tufted semi-spherical bush. Walker’s Low got its name after an Irish estate where it was bred in 1970. It has the most intense blue-violet flower coloration.
