Jahodník obecný přináší do zahrady kouzlo lesních mýtin a slunných pasek, kde se přirozeně vyskytuje napříč celou Evropou i severní Asií. Tato drobná, ale vytrvalá bylina je ceněná především pro své neuvěřitelně aromatické plody, které sice velikostí nemohou konkurovat šlechtěným zahradním jahodám, ale svou intenzivní chutí a vůní je hravě předčí. Rostlina tvoří nízké polštáře sytě zelených trojčetných listů a od dubna do června ji zdobí drobné, čistě bílé květy, které jsou neodolatelným lákadlem pro včely a další opylovače. Díky své nenáročnosti a mrazuvzdornosti až do -35 °C je ideální volbou i pro začínající pěstitele.
V zahradě plní jahodník obecný skvělou funkci půdopokryvné trvalky, která se rychle rozrůstá pomocí dlouhých nadzemních šlahounů a dokáže efektivně potlačit plevel. Nejlépe se mu daří na slunci nebo v polostínu, kde má k dispozici humózní a mírně vlhkou půdu, přesně takovou, jakou by našel v podrostu světlých listnatých lesů. Hodí se do přírodních koutů zahrady, pod keře nebo jako lemování záhonů, kde si můžete kdykoliv utrhnout sladkou odměnu. Ačkoliv ho příliš nevyužijete k řezu do vázy ani k sušení, jeho hodnota spočívá v živé kráse a jedlých plodech, které dozrávají postupně a nabízejí tu nejčistší chuť přírody přímo u vás doma.

Jahodník obecný je ideální volbou pro ty, kteří chtějí do své zahrady vnést kousek divoké přírody a zároveň si pochutnat. Jelikož vám dodáváme hotové sazenice, odpadá starost s náročným výsevem. Nejlépe se těmto rostlinám daří v propustné a výživné půdě s dostatkem humusu. Při výběru místa pamatujte, že ačkoliv snese i stín, nejvíce květů a nejsladší plody vytvoří na slunci či v mírném polostínu. Při výsadbě dbejte na to, aby „srdíčko“ rostliny (střed, odkud vyrůstají listy) zůstalo těsně nad úrovní terénu – nesmí být utopené v zemi, ale ani příliš vysoko, aby nezasychaly kořeny. Rostlina se ochotně rozrůstá do šířky, proto ji využívejte jako půdopokryvnou trvalku pod keře nebo stromy, kde udrží vláhu a zlepší mikroklima.
Péče během sezóny je nenáročná a zvládne ji i úplný začátečník. Vláha je klíčová zejména v období kvetení (duben až červen) a při tvorbě plodů. Zalévejte raději méně často, ale důkladně, aby se voda dostala ke kořenům. Protože jde o původní, nešlechtěný druh, netrpí na běžné choroby ani škůdce, což z něj dělá perfektní rostlinu pro ekologické zahrady bez chemie. Po odplození můžete rostliny mírně pročistit od suchých listů, ale není to nezbytné. Jahodník je extrémně mrazuvzdorný (zóna 3a), takže nevyžaduje žádnou speciální zimní ochranu, snese i holomrazy.
Tato lesní kráska je také výborným kandidátem pro pěstování v nádobách. V truhlících na okenním parapetu nebo v závěsných koších na terase bude prospívat, pokud jí zajistíte dostatek světla a pravidelnou zálivku. V omezeném prostoru nádoby se živiny vyčerpají rychleji, proto doporučujeme během vegetace přihnojovat kapalným organickým hnojivem pro drobné ovoce. Díky svému nízkému vzrůstu (10–30 cm) a absenci nutnosti opory vytvoří v nádobě hustý, kompaktní trs, který vás bude těšit sytou zelení listů, něžnými bílými květy a později i sladkou úrodou přímo na dosah ruky.

Gaura is a clump-forming perennial native to Texas and Louisiana. Here, it behaves more like a short-lived perennial. It combines beautifully with grasses and adds lightness and airiness to flower beds. It is an excellent food source for insects. Tiny flowers resembling small butterflies bloom tirelessly from June until the first frosts. For bouquets, harvest as soon as the first two or three flowers open on the stem. Siskiyou Pink is a beautiful variety with pink-red flowers on slightly arching stems. It is less hardy than the white-flowering varieties. The red-spotted leaves are also interesting.

A perennial that finds its place in naturalistic steppe and gravel beds. It attracts bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. It is floristically valuable for its flowers with striking bracts, which are also perfect for drying. The roots of some species were formerly eaten candied as sweets in England and France and added to pastries and jellies. In herbal medicine, it was used as an aphrodisiac, among other things, hence its folk name "male fidelity".

A valuable garden and medicinal perennial, originally from North America. It blooms in summer with dark purple-pink flowers. The spiky flower discs are an irresistible lure for butterflies. Lasts 7–10 days in a vase. After plucking the petals, the stems with the central discs can be dried or used in fresh bouquets as an interesting element. Rubinstern is very similar to the Magnus cultivar; the petals are darker and firmer. As they fade, they gradually pale and droop downwards.

The cultivar Caradonna stands out with a long flowering period and dark, almost black-purple stems with tiny purple flowers and dark purple bracts. If we cut it back after flowering, it will bloom again in late August and September.
