Violet Purpurea
Violka Purpurea je drobný klenot, který si zamilujete především pro jeho netradiční zbarvení listů. Tato vytrvalá rostlina, původem ze Severní Ameriky, vyniká tmavě zelenými až purpurovými listy, které si svou barvu často uchovávají i během mírnějších zim a vytvářejí tak zajímavý efekt na jinak prázdném záhoně. V dubnu a květnu ji navíc ozdobí záplava drobných modrofialových květů, které krásně kontrastují s tmavým olistěním. Je to ideální půdopokryvná trvalka, která se spolehlivě rozrůstá a dokáže zaplnit prázdná místa pod stromy nebo keři, kde by se jiným rostlinám nedařilo. Její velkou předností je mimořádná odolnost a nenáročnost. Poradí si se sluncem, polostínem i stínem, pokud má zajištěnou humózní a propustnou půdu. Díky své mrazuvzdornosti, která sahá až k extrémním teplotám, je v našich podmínkách naprosto spolehlivá. Violka se snadno přesévá, takže vám na zahradě postupně vytvoří husté koberce. I když není vhodná k řezu do vázy ani k sušení, radost vám udělá v kuchyni. Její květy i listy jsou jedlé a mohou sloužit jako originální ozdoba jarních salátů či dezertů. Jen si dejte pozor na slimáky, kterým tato violka bohužel také velmi chutná.

Violka Purpurea je nesmírně vděčná a flexibilní trvalka, která se dokáže přizpůsobit téměř jakémukoliv stanovišti na vaší zahradě. Můžete ji vysadit na plné slunce, do polostínu a překvapivě dobře zvládá i stinná zákoutí, což z ní činí ideálního kandidáta pro podsadbu pod vzrostlé stromy nebo keře. Klíčem k úspěchu je však správná půda – ta by měla být humózní, kyprá a dobře propustná. Ačkoliv rostlina toleruje různé podmínky, v těžké a jílovité půdě, která zadržuje vodu, by jí mohly uhnívat kořeny. Před výsadbou sazenice je proto vhodné zeminu vylepšit přídavkem kompostu, který zajistí potřebné živiny a strukturu. Vzhledem k jejímu půdopokryvnému charakteru doporučujeme sázet 9 až 12 rostlin na metr čtvereční, přičemž ideální spon je zhruba 25 až 30 cm od sebe. Tím zajistíte, že se rostliny časem spojí do hustého koberce, který efektivně potlačí plevel.
Pokud jde o zálivku, violka má ráda mírně vlhkou půdu, ale nesnáší přemokření. Po výsadbě sazenice zalévejte pravidelně, dokud dobře nezakoření. V dalších letech si rostlina obvykle vystačí s dešťovými srážkami, ale v období dlouhodobého sucha, zvláště pokud ji pěstujete na slunném stanovišti, jí dopřejte zálivku, aby listy nezačaly zasychat. Tato odrůda je také skvělou volbou pro pěstování v nádobách či truhlících na balkonech a terasách. V takovém případě je nutné zajistit na dně nádoby dobrou drenážní vrstvu a častěji kontrolovat vlhkost substrátu, protože v květináči zemina vysychá rychleji než na záhoně. V nádobách krásně vynikne samostatně nebo v kombinaci s jarními cibulovinami, se kterými tvoří půvabné kontrasty.
Údržba Violky Purpurea je minimální, což ocení zejména začínající zahradníci. Není potřeba ji složitě stříhat ani hnojit, pokud má kvalitní půdu. Rostlina se ochotně sama přesévá, takže se na stanovišti přirozeně zmlazuje a rozšiřuje. Je plně mrazuvzdorná až do extrémních -34 °C (zóna 3b), takže nevyžaduje žádnou zimní ochranu a v mírnějších zimách si její listy dokonce ponechávají svou barvu, čímž zdobí zahradu i mimo sezónu. Jediným výraznějším nepřítelem této krásky jsou slimáci a plzáci, pro které jsou její listy bohužel velkou pochoutkou. Pravidelná kontrola rostlin, zejména po dešti, je proto na místě. A nezapomeňte, že květy i listy jsou jedlé – můžete jimi bez obav ozdobit jarní saláty nebo dezerty.

The Czech Perennial Association chose autumn Anemones as the perennial of the season for 2022. They last 7 days in a vase. Whirlwind is a historical variety bred in 1887 in the USA. It has a semi-double pure white flower, often with inner twisted petals, and compact, strictly upright growth. The flowers are very durable.
