Sweet Violet Königin Charlotte
An undemanding yet noble perennial that reliably fills empty spaces in partial shade and shade, that is the sweet violet. It naturally occurs in light forests from Europe to the Caucasus, making it perfectly adapted to our climatic conditions and fully frost-resistant. The plant forms low clumps of heart-shaped leaves and gradually spreads sideways via creeping runners, thereby effectively suppressing weeds. The Königin Charlotte cultivar is valued for its intense fragrance and dark blue-purple flowers on sturdy stems, which are also suitable for cutting into miniature spring bouquets. As one of the first blooming plants, it provides valuable food for bees and bumblebees waking up after winter. A huge advantage of this variety is repeated blooming, as it often blooms again in late summer after the main spring flush. The flowers are edible, and candied violets were formerly a popular delicacy at aristocratic courts.

Shade-loving perennials do not have to be just green and inconspicuous, which lungwort 'Blue Ensign' proves with its unmissable flowers. They require humus-rich, loamy soil that does not completely dry out, and in return, they reward you with great vitality. Cultivation
Pro úspěšné pěstování této vznešené trvalky je klíčový výběr správného stanoviště, které by mělo imitovat její přirozené prostředí ve světlých lesích. Violka vonná vyžaduje polostín až stín, ideálně pod korunami listnatých stromů nebo vyšších keřů, které jí poskytnou ochranu před ostrým poledním sluncem. Půda by měla být humózní, hlinitá a dobře propustná, aby se u kořenů nedržela přebytečná voda, ale zároveň by neměla rychle vysychat. Před výsadbou sazenic doporučujeme půdu vylepšit zapracováním vyzrálého kompostu nebo listovky, což zajistí dostatek živin pro start a podpoří kyprost substrátu.
Sazenice vysazujeme tak, aby krček rostliny (místo, kde kořeny přecházejí v nadzemní část) byl v úrovni terénu. Vzhledem k tomu, že se violka ráda rozrůstá pomocí plazivých výběžků a tvoří husté koberce, dodržujte doporučený spon 25–30 cm, což odpovídá přibližně 9 až 12 rostlinám na metr čtvereční. Po výsadbě rostliny důkladně zalijte a v prvních týdnech udržujte půdu mírně vlhkou, než sazenice plně zakoření. Jelikož obdržíte již vzrostlou rostlinu, odpadá starost o složité klíčení a violka se rychleji adaptuje na nové podmínky vaší zahrady.
Během vegetace je péče o odrůdu 'Königin Charlotte' poměrně snadná. Rostlina má střední nároky na vláhu, takže zálivku vyžaduje především v obdobích delšího sucha a během horkých letních dnů. Dostatek vláhy je kritický zejména pro opakované kvetení na konci léta, kterým je tato odrůda pověstná. Na jaře můžete trsy přihnojit organickým hnojivem nebo kompostem. Ačkoliv je rostlina velmi odolná a netrpí běžnými chorobami, je velkým lákadlem pro slimáky a plzáky, kteří si rádi pochutnávají na jejích listech. Doporučujeme proto pravidelnou kontrolu porostu, případně použití ekologických zábran či granulí proti těmto škůdcům.
Z hlediska mrazuvzdornosti je tato violka naprosto spolehlivá, snáší teploty až do -28 °C a nevyžaduje žádnou speciální zimní ochranu. Pokud se rozhodnete pro pěstování v nádobách, zvolte květináč s drenážními otvory a umístěte jej na stinné místo, například na severní parapet. V nádobách je nutné hlídat zálivku mnohem pečlivěji, protože substrát rychleji vysychá. I v květináči rostlina bez problémů přezimuje, stačí nádobu obalit izolačním materiálem nebo zapustit do země, aby kořenový bal nepromrzl skrz stěny květináče.
