We fell so in love with Snapdragons at our farm that we have a plan for the whole year and Snapdragon harvests from spring to autumn, as each needs a different temperature. A beautiful shade of greenish apricots. Costa Apricot fits well into bouquets; it is a cheerful yet subtle shade. Snapdragons of the Costa series bloom at the same time as the Maryland Snapdragon; they are early varieties suitable for lower temperatures. Their advantage lies in special shades like this pastel yellow with an apricot center.

Rich pink in a Barbie shade. We are always looking for interesting varieties and colors. And Snapdragon Madame Butterfly is our darling! The flowers are double-flowered and that takes the whole Snapdragon to a new level! Stems aren't as massive and long as, for example, the Potomac and Maryland series, but they make up for it with their doubleness. We use them in bouquets, where they create beautifully large volume. One plant produces one larger and 4 smaller side stems.

Stock is a wonderful cut flower! It likes low temperatures, yet we grow three batches a year – two in spring and one in autumn. You harvest just one bloom per plant, but it is a really large, double one. Stock smells beautiful, almost intoxicating, and lasts a long time in a vase. The flowers are edible. The Katz series is not as susceptible to temperature changes, and is generally easier to grow for beginning gardeners. However, this comes at the cost of thinner stems and a lower percentage of double flowers. Katz Apricot is the most beautiful shade of skin-tone apricot. All stocks produce some plants with double flowers and some single. The ratio is different for each series. Katz has 55-60% double-flowered plants. We therefore recommend growing a bit more. At our farm, however, we use the single ones too; they look super unique.

Pure splendor! We don't have nicer photos for this year because every year we cut the ornamental carrot down to the last stem and there is simply no time left for photos. Thin, strong stems and umbel inflorescences resembling dill at their ends. There are thousands of tiny flowers on each stem creating a veil or lace effect. It is a mixture of colors, where some flowers are pure white, but the majority are chocolate to burgundy with a touch of white.

For Drying

Helichrysum bracteatum

This piece has been with us for a long time. Light pink combined with creamy white. Each flower has a different distribution and combination of these two colors. The Strawflower is a classic from grandma's garden but also an evergreen of dried flowers. We love using them when arranging for weddings because they don't wilt. They are suitable for corsages, wreaths, and boutonnieres. For drying, we harvest flowers that are not yet fully open, when the yellow center cannot be seen yet. At the same time, we check the stem below the flower; it should already be firm, not "rubbery". Just hang them upside down in a dry and ventilated place, out of direct sunlight.

Limonium sinuatum

Statice is a classic from grandma's garden, but also an evergreen of dried flowers. We grow statice by the hundreds! It is incredibly useful in bouquets as filler material and even undried lasts a long time in a vase. Once all the florets on the stem bloom, statice no longer wilts and is suitable for wreaths, corsages, boutonnieres. QIS Pastel is a beautiful sample of colors in tones of blue, violet, lavender and pink. One plant produces at least 15 stems. For drying, we harvest statice at the stage when the stem under the flower is firm and the entire inflorescence has bloomed. Just hang them upside down, in a dry and ventilated place, out of sunlight.

Cultivation

U hledíku držte pravidelnou zálivku a nezapomeňte pravidelně přihnojovat. Jakmile začnou hledíky kvést můžete na zálivce ubrat.

OPORA

Pokud jste profesionál a pěstujete hledíky k řezu, doporučujeme oporu, resp. síť, kterou budou hledíky prorůstat.

Skupina 1 - 2
Maryland, Costa, Frappe, Snapstar

Skupina 3 - 4
Potomac, Madame Butterfly

Thin, strong stems and umbel inflorescences resembling dill at their ends. There are thousands of tiny flowers on each stem creating a veil or lace effect. It is a mixture of colors, where some flowers are pure white, but the majority are chocolate to burgundy with a touch of white.

Zinnia elegans

The best-selling cut Zinnia ever! But the main thing is the color! Antique wine fading into antique pink. The Queen Lime series is our favorite Zinnia; it's love at first sight! The flowers are large, up to 10 cm, surrounded by many petals, giving a double-flowered appearance. Moving towards the center, the petals get smaller and end up unopened at the center, creating a frosted cupcake effect. No other Zinnia compares!

Saponaria vaccaria

An interesting name and an unusual flower resembling baby's breath. The rich blooms on the stems invite you to divide them into several smaller vases to decorate a windowsill. It finishes blooming quickly, so we recommend succession planting. You will harvest 3-4 stems from a single plant.

Delphinium consolida

Larkspurs are spring beauties that are unmatched. But if you want to harvest them for cut flowers, you must be vigilant and harvest quickly before all buds open. Especially in the warm springs of recent years, they bloom quickly, so we sow several batches 14 days apart just to keep up with the harvest. Larkspur QIS White is a delicate white, fitting beautifully into wedding floristry. From one plant you will harvest one thicker stem and 4-5 smaller side ones.

For Drying
