Sunflower Claret

At the turn of spring and summer, large, full blooms are scarce. The last ranunculus have faded, and there's plenty of time before the first dahlias bloom. On our farm, it was always a struggle at that time to find beautiful, full, large flowers for bouquets. But we succeeded! We filled the void with asters and peony-flowered poppies. These poppies reliably replace peonies, ranunculus, and dahlias. Just keep in mind that they don't bloom for long and need a bit of care to last in a bouquet. We harvest buds just as they are about to open, sear the stem ends in water for a few seconds, and let them fully open in the vase. Peony-flowered poppy Salmon is a warm pink color.

Vanilla yellow, just like its sister, only the centers are dark, brown, creating an interesting contrast. PROCUT series sunflowers are specially bred varieties suitable for cutting. These are single-stemmed, reliable plants. They don't produce pollen, which all florists will appreciate.

Bicolor is a reddish-brown sunflower, with half yellow petals and half brownish-orange. It's perfectly suited for late summer, giving an autumnal feel.
