Když pěstujeme slunečnice u nás na farmě, platí:
(1) dražší osivo slunečnice vždy předpěstováváme
(2) levné osivo můžeme sít přímo do záhonů, klidně i rozhodit po zahradě
(3) slunečnice nikdy nepěstujeme na stejném místě více let po sobě
(4) spon ovlivňuje velikost květů (intenzivnější = malé květy, širší spon = velké květy)
(5) vysívejte slunečnice postupně během celé sezóny
To jsou ty nejdůležitější body k pěstování slunečnic, ale popořadě...
V naší nabídce najdete semena slunečnic ze série ProCut. ProCut je takové Porsche mezi slunečnicemi — jednostonkové bezpylové slunečnice určené k řezu. Jedná se o dražší osivo, tzn. doporučujeme předpěstovat.
Dále máme v sortimentu i slunečnice Evening Sun, Earthwalker, Skyscraper a Autumn Beauty, ty můžete vysít rovnou do záhonů, nebo jen rozhodit po zahradě. Sice nejsou vyšlechtěny speciálně k řezu, ale máme je rádi pro jejich neotřelé barvy a alespoň si na vaší zahradě můžete udělat srovnání.
PŘEDPĚSTOVÁNÍ
Pro semena ze série ProCut vyberte větší sadbovač, do kterého jednotlivá semínka vysejete a zakryjete 2 cm substrátu. Semínka vyklíčí za pár dní při teplotě 10 - 20 °C. Zhruba za 2 - 3 týdny budete mít krásné sazeničky, které můžete přesadit do záhonu. Ideální je ještě sazeničky alespoň týden otužit.
Pokud i tak chcete vysívat přímo do záhonů, počkejte až bude mít půda teplotu alespoň 7 °C, což vychází na polovinu května. Semínka zakryjte ~ 2 cm půdy. Klíčení bude pomalejší v porovnání s předpěstováním.
Slunečnice začínají nakvétat ve chvíli, kdy se zkracují dny a proto je máme spojené právě s podzimem. Pokud slunečnice vysadíte hned po posledních mrazech (polovina května), slunečnice se bude během dlouhých dnů a vysokých teplot prodlužovat a vytvoří dlouhé stonky. Jakmile se přiblíží podzim, začne kvést.
Nebojte se tedy slunečnice vysazovat postupně v průběhu roku, doporučujeme po 2 - 3 týdnech, abyste měli zásobu květů.
Sázíme ve sponu 15 - 30 cm od sebe. Pamatujte, že čím více prostoru slunečnici dáte, tím větší květ vytvoří. Pro naše účely se snažíme slunečnice sázet co nejblíže k sobě, aby vytvořily kompaktnější květy, které můžeme použít do kytic. Slunečnice nikdy nezaštipujeme. Slunečnice vytvoří natolik robustní stonek, že nepotřebuje ani žádnou formu opory, drží sama. Pokud ale ve vašem okolí jsou časté silné deště a větry, raději slunečnicím nějakou formu opory dopřejte.
SKLIZEŇ
Jakmile se květy slunečnice vybarví, můžete sklízet. Pokud pěstujete na řez, skliďte ji nicméně před tím, než se rozvinou všechny okvětní plátky. Sklizeň doporučujeme v chladnější část dne a bez rosy, ideálně ráno.
Pro uskladnění sklizených slunečnic doporučujeme odstranit všechny listy ze stonku, vrchních pár lístků můžete zanechat. Slunečnice můžete skladovat v teplotě 2 - 4 °C až týden.
Ve váze slunečnice vydrží 7 - 10 dní, některé druhy, zejména ty bezpylové vydrží až 15 dní pří správné péči (zastřihávání stonků a výměna vody). Trik pro delší výdrž slunečnic ve váze je, že opálíme konce stonků, nebo konce spaříme v horké vodě.

You can't imagine anything more meadow-like! It is a terrible shame that it can only be grown at lower temperatures. The Tall Double series is a fuller-flowered Cornflower than the one we see along the roadsides. And Black Boy is a truly unique specimen. The color is dark burgundy to black.

Cosmos are one of the most popular flowers at our farm. They resemble Daisies and customers love them. Rosetta comes in shades of darker and lighter pink painted like brush strokes. A variety with beautifully strong, firm stems. One plant produces at least 12 stems.

Statice QIS Pastel
Statice is a classic from grandma's garden, but also an evergreen of dried flowers. We grow statice by the hundreds! It is incredibly useful in bouquets as filler material and even undried lasts a long time in a vase. Once all the florets on the stem bloom, statice no longer wilts and is suitable for wreaths, corsages, boutonnieres. QIS Pastel is a beautiful sample of colors in tones of blue, violet, lavender and pink. One plant produces at least 15 stems.
For drying, we harvest statice at the stage when the stem under the flower is firm and the entire inflorescence has bloomed. Just hang them upside down, in a dry and ventilated place, out of sunlight.
