Thyme Lemon, Loukykvět
Fragrant

Thymus citriodorus

Lemon creeping thyme is a fragrant perennial that will instantly surprise you with its fresh citrus scent. The native species grow on sunny, dry rocky slopes, which is why it performs best here in full sun and well-drained, rather sandy soil. It forms dense, low cushions twenty to thirty centimeters high, which become covered in a profusion of tiny pink flowers from June to July. These provide a rich source of nectar, attracting bees, bumblebees, and other pollinators. You will receive an established seedling in a pot, ready to be planted directly into the border or a large patio container. Creeping thyme is low-maintenance, pest- and disease-free, and easy for beginners to look after. It survives frosts down to minus eighteen degrees, provided it is planted in a drier spot to avoid winter waterlogging. It pairs beautifully with other herbs and finer drought-tolerant perennials in borders. Its green leaves are edible and useful in the kitchen for summer drinks and flavoring dishes. You can also dry them, as they retain excellent aroma. In the garden, it functions wonderfully as both a ground cover and a fragrant sensory element.
