Coreopsis

A beautiful, delicate perennial originating from North America. The striking, relatively large yet delicate flowers blend beautifully with a rich, fluffy cloud of tiny leaves. It forms compact mounds and is ideal for the front of flowerbeds. We classify Coreopsis as naturally short-lived perennials. Their lifespan can be partially influenced by choosing a suitable location and care during the season. Full Moon is a taller and more vigorous variant of the proven variety Moonbeam. Like the latter, it has light yellow flowers that combine very well with the colors of other perennials and bloom repeatedly for many weeks. It lasts about a week in a vase.

A drought-loving herb originally from the Mediterranean. Grown for its grey-white felted stems and leaves. The dead-nettle-like flowers are also interesting and are a great attraction for bees. The plant does not lose interest even after flowering, precisely because of its unusual silvery coloring and saucer-shaped flower calyxes. In this, it resembles another floral delicacy – Bells of Ireland. Unlike them, however, it is perennial and withstands our frosts in the right location. It comes from Turkey, Libya, Greece, and Crete, which is why we plant it, for example, in gravel beds. We can also grow it successfully in a pot. Unusual greenery for bouquets. Papaver orientale

The Oriental poppy originates from the Caucasus, Turkey, and Iran, where it grows on rocky slopes and dry meadows. It blooms with large bowl-shaped flowers on tall stems. Like all poppies, for use in bouquets, we harvest them as soon as the buds color up and "crack". Additionally, we briefly (for about 20 seconds) sear the ends of the stems with a flame and immediately place them in cold water. Then they last in a vase for 4 days. The strikingly hairy and large leaves die back shortly after flowering, and the plant must rest until spring to gather strength. A portion of the leaves sprouts again in late summer. Therefore, it is advisable to plant other perennials in close proximity that sprout later and can draw attention to themselves during the poppy's pause. Royal Wedding flowers have white petals with a dark burgundy spot in the center of the flower.

Cultivation

The information given is based on our experience, please use it as a guide only. Euphorbia amygdaloides

Helleborus orientalis

Hellebores are evergreen perennials that form slowly spreading clumps of leathery, dark green leaves. The stems usually bear four to five flowers. They bloom very early, as early as late winter and early spring. They are usable for vases only after conspicuous seed pods form in the center of the flower and the flower matures. Earlier, they tend to wilt and the stems cannot hold the flower in an upright position. All parts of the plant are poisonous. Double Ellen White is an almost pure white, double-flowered hellebore. The petals are slightly wavy and the bottom row of petals is lightly tinged with green.

Salvia nemorosa

This species of sage originates from the steppe regions of Central and Eastern Europe. It forms abundantly flowering small clumps with straight upright stems. In beds, it looks best in groups. Traditionally, it is planted as a companion to roses due to the matching flowering time. However, it will look equally good in mixed drought-loving steppe plantings with grasses. It is an excellent food source for bees. It lasts 7 days in a vase. Schneehügel blooms white.

Great burnet is a native meadow plant that naturally grows on damp meadows. In mid-summer, branching stems with tiny dark red flower heads rise from a clump of pinnate leaves. They create unusual structural and color accents in flower beds and bouquets. Great burnet is a vital plant for the Scarce Large Blue butterfly. In the garden, it fits well into naturalistic plantings with grasses and other perennials. It adds lightness and airiness to bouquets. It lasts 7 to 10 days in a vase.
