Echinacea purpurea

A valuable garden and medicinal perennial, native to North America. The spiky flower centers are an irresistible attraction for butterflies. They last 7–10 days in a vase. After removing the petals, the stems with the central disks can be dried or used in fresh bouquets as an interesting element. White Swan blooms with milky white flowers and brownish-orange centers. The petals are not spread entirely horizontally; they bend slightly downwards.

Digitalis purpurea

A species native to Central Europe originating from clearings, damp meadows, and light forest edges. Usually a biennial or short-lived perennial. In the first year in autumn, the plant forms a basal rosette of leaves; in spring, flowering stems grow from them. Further development depends on the site we choose. Somewhere it survives another season, elsewhere we must rely on self-seeding or plant new plants. All parts of the foxglove are poisonous. Lasts 6 to 8 days in a vase.

These snowberries are specially bred for floristic purposes. Their shoots are upright, sufficiently long and strong, and carry a rich abundance of flowers and berries. In addition to use in bouquets, we can plant them like other snowberries in shrub groups, as lower hedges, or in mixed beds with taller perennials and grasses. The flowers are good forage for bees. The berries are poisonous. They bloom later in late spring and form berries in late summer.

This species of sage originates from the steppe regions of Central and Eastern Europe. It forms abundantly flowering small clumps with straight upright stems. In beds, it looks best in groups. Traditionally, it is planted as a companion to roses due to the matching flowering time. However, it will look equally good in mixed drought-loving steppe plantings with grasses. It is an excellent food source for bees. It lasts 7 days in a vase. The cultivar Ostfriesland blooms with a strikingly dark violet-blue color.

Ballota pseudodictamnus

A drought-loving herb originally from the Mediterranean. Grown for its grey-white felted stems and leaves. The dead-nettle-like flowers are also interesting and are a great attraction for bees. The plant does not lose interest even after flowering, precisely because of its unusual silvery coloring and saucer-shaped flower calyxes. In this, it resembles another floral delicacy – Bells of Ireland. Unlike them, however, it is perennial and withstands our frosts in the right location. It comes from Turkey, Libya, Greece, and Crete, which is why we plant it, for example, in gravel beds. We can also grow it successfully in a pot. Unusual greenery for bouquets. Lasts 10 days in a vase.

Malva moschata f. alba

Mallow is an undemanding native perennial with pleasantly scented pale pink flowers. Since ancient times, its leaves, flowers, and unripe seeds have been used as vegetables and herbs. In the 16th century, it was even considered a panacea. In flower beds, due to its rapid growth and development as well as rich flowering, it is perfectly suited for filling gaps in newly established plantings. It looks very effective already in the first season and grabs all the attention at a time when other perennials are still taking their time. The fragrant and delicate flowers are very suitable for cutting into vases and also attract bees. A beautiful pure white form of mallow, elegant in combination with roses or in drought-loving communities.

Matthiola incana

Stock is a wonderful cut flower! It likes low temperatures, yet we grow three batches a year – two in spring and one in autumn. You harvest just one bloom per plant, but it is a really large, double one. Stock smells beautiful, almost intoxicating, and lasts a long time in a vase. The flowers are edible. The Katz series is not as susceptible to temperature changes, and is generally easier to grow for beginning gardeners. However, this comes at the cost of thinner stems and a lower percentage of double flowers. Katz Apricot is the most beautiful shade of skin-tone apricot. All stocks produce some plants with double flowers and some single. The ratio is different for each series. Katz has 55-60% double-flowered plants. We therefore recommend growing a bit more. At our farm, however, we use the single ones too; they look super unique.

Its bred cultivars also retain this characteristic. Therefore, we combine it in beds with suitable perennials that cover the lower parts well. The whole plant is roughly hairy. It is a hardy and long-lived perennial and resists powdery mildew well. Harrington’s Pink is a variety found in the wild; it has 2.5 to 3.5 cm large flowers of bright pink color with a yellow center.
