Saponaria vaccaria, or cow soapwort 'Pink Beauty', is a reliable annual that brings a romantic and airy element to summer flower beds. It easily makes up for its unconventional name with a rich profusion of tiny, pastel-pink flowers that bring a sense of lightness to the garden. These appear on sturdy stems sixty to ninety centimeters tall during the summer months, from June to September. The delicate flowers not only look beautiful and soften the surrounding plantings, but they also act as a magnet for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, which will naturally enliven your garden. For healthy growth, cow soapwort appreciates a bright location, but it can grow in light shade without any problems.
It looks very elegant in the garden, and thanks to its structure—reminiscent of baby's breath—it combines perfectly with more robust types of flowers, for which it makes a delicate background. You can confidently cut three to four richly branched stems from each plant. They will bring great joy even if you simply place them in small vases in your living room. Stock is a wonderful cut flower! It likes low temperatures, yet we grow three batches a year – two in spring and one in autumn. You harvest just one bloom per plant, but it is a really large, double one. Stock smells beautiful, almost intoxicating, and lasts a long time in a vase. The flowers are edible.
The Katz series is not as susceptible to temperature changes, and is generally easier to grow for beginning gardeners. However, this comes at the cost of thinner stems and a lower percentage of double flowers. Katz Apricot is the most beautiful shade of skin-tone apricot.
All stocks produce some plants with double flowers and some single. The ratio is different for each series. Katz has 55-60% double-flowered plants. We therefore recommend growing a bit more. At our farm, however, we use the single ones too; they look super unique.

The Kiiro cultivar represents an unusually charming variant of the very popular classic Cosmos. Its flowers continuously shine with unusual shades of pastel yellow and white color, making it an exceptional feature for any summer garden. The plant forms airy small bushes with thread-like leaves and reaches an impressive height of 60 to 120 centimeters. From June to September, it produces an incredible flood of flowers that unerringly attract plenty of pollinators to the garden. In garden design, it is excellently applied in mixed flower beds in full sun or in light partial shade with medium watering. Due to its height and the fragility of the stems, it is advisable to think about early support. Cosmos are prized in floristry because they add a unique airiness to bouquets. Moreover, they willingly self-seed in the flower bed for the next season. Starting to grow this annual from seeds is easy even for novices. Plan your sowing from April to July. Always cover the seeds with a thin layer of substrate. They germinate willingly and very quickly, usually within 4 to 8 days. Pinch the seedlings in time to create a bushier plant.

The Iron series has robust stems and all the qualities for large production. However, it is more susceptible to temperature fluctuation, and therefore is more difficult to grow, so we recommend it rather for advanced gardeners. Iron Cherry Blossom is a delicate shade of pink in the colors of apple blossoms.
All stocks have some plants with double flowers and some single. The ratio is different for every series. Iron has 55% double-flowered plants. We therefore recommend growing a bit more. But at our farm we also use the single ones, they are super unique.

An evergreen favorite at the flower market! Sea Holly is a perennial; it lasts for several years in the flowerbed and spreads beautifully. The "flowers" and leaves are slightly prickly; it does look like a miniature thistle after all. The stems and tops are silvery blue. And mature, bloomed Sea Holly doesn't wilt, making it great for drying, wreaths, and similar uses.
For drying, harvest when the thistles are colored blue and the stem below the thistle is firm. Just hang them upside down in a dry, ventilated place, out of sunlight.

Cultivation
GENERAL INFO
Peony roots are living material, which is why we store them under specific conditions — we must ensure sufficient moisture for the roots to prevent excessive drying out. However, during moist storage, light surface mold may appear; this is a cosmetic phenomenon that has no effect on subsequent growth. We pack the roots just before dispatch so that their storage time in closed packaging is as short as possible.
PLANTING
Therefore, do not delay planting peonies so their roots do not dry out too much during storage; as we mentioned, storage is more demanding. When planting, pay attention to the correct planting depth and do not so-called „drown“ the plants, as they would not bloom. Plant so that after watering, the shoot buds slightly protrude with their tips above the substrate surface. The lowest buds should be a maximum of 2-3 centimeters below the surface. The planting hole should be twice as wide and deep as the peony root. Expect the soil to settle after watering. If you are planting late in the autumn, you can cover new plants with brushwood before winter.
LOCATION
Peonies bloom best in a sunny spot. However, they are quite adaptable and can thrive in semi-shaded positions, though they need at least 6 hours of sunshine for abundant blooming. All peonies need plenty of space around them; they do not like competition from shrubs or hedges. You should reserve an area of one square meter for a peony, where even other vigorously growing perennials will not compete with them.
SOIL CONDITIONS
Peonies need permeable, loamy, and nutrient-rich garden soil that retains adequate moisture well. They do not tolerate waterlogging in soil that is too heavy.
WATERING
Newly planted peonies need watering especially during the first spring in dry periods. Mature peonies will be more resilient, and watering will only be useful in case of a very dry spring and early summer. After blooming, they usually do not have trouble with summer drought.
FERTILIZING
Peonies need plenty of nutrients; an organic fertilizer rich in potassium is suitable in the spring. Conversely, be careful with excessive nitrogen. Plants would then be more susceptible to fungal diseases. In the autumn, you can spread a one-centimeter thin layer of mature compost around the plant.
DISEASE PREVENTION
Maintain sufficient distance when planting so that air flows well between the plants. Regularly remove dead flowers and remove any diseased leaves. These must not be put on the compost but should be thrown away with common household waste.
MAINTENANCE AND CARE
In the first years after planting, remove side buds to strengthen the plants. In late autumn, you can remove dead leaves. Count on support for the plants; all herbaceous peonies need it. Watch out for spring frosts, especially if they follow a mild winter. Sprouted flower buds can tolerate temperatures dropping to -3°C; at lower temperatures, they die. In this case, protect peonies with non-woven fabric.
(not) TRANSPLANTING
Choose the location well; peonies prefer undisturbed growth without transplanting. This is possible with older plants, which we divide during the process so that each part has three to seven buds. The most suitable period is from September to October.
