Peony Jan van Leeuwen

Peonies are valuable in gardens for their large and impressive flowers. They are long-lived perennials for patient gardeners. It takes them several years to grow to full beauty and before you see abundant flowering. Therefore, a blooming peony the very first year after planting is rather an exception, definitely not the rule. To bloom, it needs the right conditions in addition to time. Study our growing guide. Herbaceous garden peonies are one of the longest-bred garden plants, and most cultivars have their origins in Chinese and medicinal peonies, which have long been part of monastery gardens. Today we combine them with perennials, grasses, and bulbs. However, we always give them enough space in the flowerbed. The Jan van Leeuwen peony blooms with pure white single flowers with bright yellow stamens. It stands out for the length and abundance of its flowering. It combines excellently with perennials and is also suitable for more naturalistic plantings. Show full description

Today we combine them with perennials, grasses, and bulbs. However, we always give them enough space in the bed. 'Coral Sunset' has the largest proportion of warm orange of all coral Peonies and also the strongest stems in its color group, which easily support large buds and subsequently semi-double fragrant flowers. It impresses with its gradual color transformation from coral tones to cream.

Paeonia

The 'Coral Charm' peony captivates with its dark coral buds, which gradually open into large, semi-double flowers. During blooming, it offers a breathtaking color transformation, with tones shifting from vibrant pink through salmon and peach to a soft cream. These long-lived perennials require a certain amount of patience from the gardener. It takes them several years to grow to their full beauty, and blooming in the very first year after planting is more the exception than the rule. For successful growing, not only time is key, but also the right conditions and plenty of space in the flower bed – we therefore recommend studying our growing guide. Most cultivars of herbaceous peonies are derived from the Chinese and common peonies, which were a traditional part of monastery gardens. Today, we love to combine them with other perennials, ornamental grasses, and bulbs.

Both combine very well together.

It would seem that Red Sarah Bernhardt is simply a red variant of its pink-flowering namesake. In reality, these two peonies do not have much in common, and the red shade is closer to fuchsia tones. Red Sarah Bernhardt is simply a bit of a mystery; we only know that it was registered in 1980 in China. Its flowers are double and fragrant.

Dahlia

Dahlia Café Au Lait is an absolute icon among dahlias and unrivaled as the best-selling item on our farm. Its huge flowers, often reaching the size of a dinner plate, cannot be overlooked. The color is completely unique and changeable, ranging in soft shades of creamy white, milky coffee, and powder pink, occasionally with a hint of salmon. Thanks to this specific coloring, it is loved by all brides and florists, as it fits perfectly into wedding bouquets and magnificent arrangements. In a vase, it looks majestic, and even a single flower can light up an entire room. In the garden, this variety forms a dominant element that attracts attention at first glance. The plants grow to a respectable height, often over a meter and a half, so it is advisable to provide them with support so they do not break under the weight of the massive blooms. It blooms tirelessly from July until the first frosts, and its pastel tones soften any perennial planting. If you are looking for a plant that adds structure to flower beds while providing premium cutting material, Café Au Lait is the clear choice.

Dahlia

'Linda’s Baby' is among the greatest beauties in the assortment of ball dahlias. For us, it is on the list of our top ten favorite varieties! Its medium-sized flowers combine delicacy and playfulness, which is why so many brides and florists have fallen in love with it. The color is changeable and hard to define with one word; pastel and coral pink mix with apricot reflections and transition into light salmon tones. It is precisely this ability to change shade according to the light that makes it an indispensable treasure for wedding bouquets. Like other ball varieties, it has the longest vase life of all dahlia types. You can support this by searing the stems after harvesting.

Eucalyptus cinerea

Eucalyptus (also known as gum tree) is one of the most requested greens and fillers in floristry ever, it is trendy! The color is silvery blue-green, which is such a combination that we are not surprised by its popularity at all. Eucalyptus Silver "Dollar" grows beautifully tall, the branches are more sparsely built. The leaves are larger and round in shape. The color of Silver Dollar is more silvery and thus in floristry fits rather into colder color combinations. For drying, we harvest as soon as the tips of the twigs are mature and the last leaves are firm. Just hang them upside down, in a dry and ventilated place, out of sunlight.

Cultivation

Rostliny by pak byly náchylnější k houbovým chorobám. Na podzim můžete kolem rostliny rozprostřít centimetr tenkou vrstvu vyzrálého kompostu.

PREVENCE CHOROB

OŠETŘOVÁNÍ A PÉČE

Paeonia

Peony Jan van Leeuwen captivates with pure white, single flowers, whose center is adorned with bright yellow stamens. This cultivar stands out above all for the length and abundance of its blooming, making it perfectly suited for more naturalistic plantings as well as classic perennial beds. Herbaceous garden peonies are long-lived perennials, but they require patience from the gardener. They take several years to grow into their full beauty, and blooming in the very first year after planting is more of an exception than the rule. For successful growth, they need the right conditions besides time, so we recommend studying our growing instructions. Most cultivars have their origins in Chinese and common peonies, which were a traditional part of monastery gardens. Today, we like to combine them with perennials, ornamental grasses, and bulbs, but we must always give them enough space. Potted seedlings can be planted continuously from spring to autumn.
