California Poppy Gold Swirl

We recommend California poppy for sunny beds; it tolerates heat and drought. We use it mainly for wedding floristry because it is wonderfully original. It isn't well-suited for arranging standard market bouquets, as the stems aren't very strong and harvesting takes longer. Gold Swirl is a double-flowered variety of the classic orange California poppy. Show full description

Honesty White, Loukykvět
For drying

Lunaria annua

A classic of dried flowers; our grandmothers had gardens full of honesty. It blooms in spring just like sweet rocket or columbine, but the flowers aren't suitable for cutting. It pays to wait, and in summer you can harvest the first fruits. Honesty creates seeds wrapped in beautiful oval pods. We recommend harvesting them even when green; they look beautiful in bouquets! And that is the difference between white and purple honesty. The white one has fresh green pods the color of peas. Dried, they look the same for both species. For drying, we harvest pods from which the seed casings are already naturally falling off. Just hang them upside down in a dry and ventilated place, out of sunlight.

Sea Holly, Loukykvět
For drying

Eryngium planum

An evergreen favorite at the flower market! Sea Holly is a perennial; it lasts for several years in the flowerbed and spreads beautifully. The "flowers" and leaves are slightly prickly; it does look like a miniature thistle after all. The stems and tops are silvery blue. And mature, bloomed Sea Holly doesn't wilt, making it great for drying, wreaths, and similar uses. For drying, harvest when the thistles are colored blue and the stem below the thistle is firm. Just hang them upside down in a dry, ventilated place, out of sunlight.

Nigella Miss Jekyll Rose, Loukykvět

Nigella damascena

Černucha damašská pochází z oblasti Středozemí a severní Afriky a v našich zahradách zdomácněla už před staletími. Kultivar Miss Jekyll Rose přináší romantickou náladu díky svým netradičním květům v odstínech malinové, fuchsiové a čistě bílé barvy. Jemně stříhané listy připomínají kopr a dodávají celé rostlině úžasně vzdušný vzhled.

Centaurea cyanus

The blue cornflower is an absolute classic of our fields and meadows, which probably needs no lengthy introduction. However, the 'Tall Double Blue Boy' variety brings something extra. Compared to its wild relatives that we see along roads, it boasts rich flowers in an unmistakable, deep blue shade, sometimes with a purple tone. You can hardly imagine anything more meadow-like. Thanks to its strong stems growing up to eighty centimeters tall, this annual is perfectly suited for cutting, adding true rustic charm to bouquets. But its use doesn't end in the vase. The flowers keep their fantastic color even after drying! At weddings, we loved using them in flower crowns and corsages, where they have excellent stamina! The petals are edible. They serve perfectly as an original garnish for summer salads, desserts, or festive cakes. Moreover, in the garden, it functions as a reliable magnet for bees and bumblebees, who simply go crazy for its nectar.

Peony Poppy Cream, Loukykvět

Papaver paeoniflorum

Large double flowers are missing at the turn of spring and summer. The last Ranunculus finish blooming and there is plenty of time before the first Dahlias arrive. On our farm, it was always a struggle to find beautiful, full, and large flowers for bouquets at that time. But we succeeded! We filled the void with China asters and peony-flowered Poppies. These Poppies reliably replace peonies, Ranunculus, and Dahlias. Just keep in mind that they don't last long and need a little care to last in a bouquet. We harvest when the bud cracks, sear the ends of the stems in water for a few seconds, and let them finish opening in the vase. Peony Poppy Salmon is a warm pink color.

Cultivation

PŘÍMÝ VÝSEV

Doporučujeme přímý výsev. Po posledních mrazech můžeme vysít rovnou na záhon. Zakryjeme 0,5 cm vrstvou zeminy. Jakmile se objeví první opravdové lístky, vyjednotíme do požadovaného sponu. Sluncovka nejlépe kvete za studenějších nocí, proto nedoporučujeme vysévat v horkém létě.

PŘEDPĚSTOVÁNÍ

Sejeme 2-3 týdny před posledními mrazy. Zakryjeme 0,5 cm vrstvou zeminy a zaléváme ze spodu. Ven přesazujeme až po posledních mrazech. Sluncovka nejlépe kvete za studenějších nocí, proto nedoporučujeme vysévat v horkém létě.
