Buzzing Garden
This collection of nectar-producing perennials is suitable for planting in sunny locations. It contains plants that cope well with lower-quality soil and, once established, will not require regular watering or time-consuming care. Aesthetically, it is perfect for creating the impression of a wildflower meadow, and thanks to the ability of selected plants to spread via self-seeding or gradual growth, it will transform from spring to autumn. The variety of colors is complemented by a diversity of inflorescence shapes; there will always be something to admire in the beds. Umbels, spikes, flower heads—the bed is like a living botany textbook. You can use it in a school garden, an urban jungle, or to plant a sunny hillside in the countryside. Diversity in shape, species, and color is the main motto of our collection and is important for attracting various types of insects. The menu features native Central European plants as well as a few exotic specialties. It is advantageous to count on a slightly larger bed area so that we can sow and plant additional annuals. This will ensure a diverse supply throughout the season. What's important are not just the flowers with pollen and nectar reserves, but also leaves and stalks that serve as shelters for insects. Therefore, it is a good idea to add grasses such as millet, feather grass, bluestem, or grama grass to our basic collection. Depending on the moisture conditions of your plot, you can add daffodils and other bulbs. Alliums cope well with drought and look interesting in beds long after they have finished blooming. After all, excessive cleaning is not desirable in insect-friendly beds. On the contrary, by leaving most of the stems and clumps until spring, we enable many beneficial insect species to overwinter safely.
When planning, count on an average of six to seven perennials per m², depending on the soil quality in your garden and your intentions. In nutritious and sufficiently moist soil, perennials will grow faster and the distances between them can be larger to start with; in poorer conditions, it will be better to plant them more densely. The time you can dedicate to bed maintenance will also be a deciding factor.
With our collection, you can work creatively and adapt it to your needs and your garden. In the basket, you can easily adjust plant counts and choose appropriate species and cultivar substitutes. For example, if you are already growing some of the perennials in this collection and only need to supplement your bed, you can keep only the selected perennials in your basket. When shopping in autumn, you can take advantage of available bulbs and order the complete collection, including spring bulbs and alliums, which will ensure your bed has plenty of flowers in both spring and summer.

Allium sphaerocephalon
The round-headed garlic draws attention with its striking flowers, which form unmistakable dark purple and burgundy dots. It is a summer-blooming variety that reaches a height of about seventy to one hundred centimeters. Its egg-shaped inflorescences, three to five centimeters in size, are densely packed and appear from June to August. Its leaves resemble chives in shape, but it is typical for summer garlic that they begin to naturally yellow and wither during the blooming period. The deep color of the flowers stands out perfectly in mixed prairie plantings alongside delicate ornamental grasses. Furthermore, the dense inflorescences act as a magnet for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. Anyone who creates home arrangements will love this plant. Although correctly it is the Chinese hound's tongue, on the farm we don't call it anything other than forget-me-not! Unlike the classic water forget-me-not that we all know, this species has massive and long stems perfectly suited for binding. The color is a very fresh and distinct blue. Each plant produces 6-8 stems, and if you let some fade and ripen, seeds are easily collected.

Poppy Mother of Pearl
A Poppy with black centers, similar to anemones. In terms of color, it is a mix of marbled shades ranging from white through red and pink to burgundy.
We have been growing poppies since the early days of Loukykvět, and this year we are returning to them. The Poppy needs more care as a cut flower and does not last as long in a vase. But! It is such a beauty that it is worth it anyway.
Here is our guide for poppies. We harvest buds that have just cracked open. It is enough if you see a crack on the bud and the color inside. The Poppy has only a few petals, so it takes just a moment to open. Freshly trim the ends and scald them in hot water (just boil water and use immediately), or sear the ends with a flame. The heat helps the Poppy open pathways for water absorption so it won't wilt. We arrange freshly opened pieces or buds into bouquets, expecting the Poppy to open during the day.
If you plan to sow poppies just for pleasure in the flower bed, none of this is necessary, of course :).
For drying, we harvest matured poppy heads, roughly from mid-July. Just hang them upside down in a dry and ventilated place, out of direct sunlight.

Macedonian scabious is an abundantly and long-blooming, undemanding perennial that will bring the untamed charm of summer meadows to the garden. Its wild form originates from the sun-drenched Balkans, where it naturally grows on sunny hillsides and in warm thickets. You will receive from us a mature seedling in a pot, which just needs to be transplanted into well-drained loamy or sandy soil in the sun or partial shade. Here it will quickly take root and form a vigorous clump. The Red Knight cultivar enchants with slender stems up to ninety centimeters tall, which all summer from June to September carry a flood of dark burgundy to deep wine-red flowers. These edible flowers act as a huge attraction for bees, bumblebees, and other insects. The plant is an ideal choice for beginners because it reliably resists frosts down to minus twenty-eight degrees and does not suffer from any pests or diseases. Although it belongs to short-lived perennials, in a suitable place it gladly self-seeds. It will fit perfectly into naturalistically designed plantings with ornamental grasses and is popularly used in sweeping meadow bouquets. We recommend cutting the flowers fully open; they will then stay beautifully fresh in a vase for several days.

Purple garlic, Latin name Allium atropurpureum, originally traveled to us from the sunny regions of the Balkans. At first glance, it captures attention with its exceptionally dark, deep burgundy color, which acts as a perfect contrast in the garden to lighter perennials and ornamental grasses. During May and June, striking semi-spherical inflorescences composed of tiny star-shaped flowers bloom on sturdy stems reaching sixty to ninety centimeters in height. They look beautiful, emit a pleasant fragrance, and attract bees, bumblebees, and other pollinators from afar. After flowering, the plant gradually goes dormant in the ground, so it is ideal to combine it with species that will subtly fill its space over the summer. Its natural homeland is the North American prairies, where it grows in open sunny areas with nutritious and well-drained humous soil. Exactly such conditions will be ideal for it in your garden as well. We send customers grown seedlings directly in pots, which take root quickly after being transplanted into the ground and soon form vigorous clumps of narrow green leaves.
Caring for this perennial is truly undemanding, and beginner gardeners can embark on it without worry. Agastache Alabaster, also known as wrinkled agastache, comes from regions of China and Japan, where it naturally grows in sunny and drier habitats. Its deep green toothed leaves resemble a nettle at first glance, but don't worry, it certainly doesn't sting. On the contrary, it will pleasantly surprise you, because when rubbed between your fingers, it releases a very pleasant minty-anise scent. Furthermore, these fragrant leaves and white flowers are edible, and you can use them to decorate summer dishes or drinks. Therefore, it also prefers full sun and well-drained loamy soil here. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you simply transplant into the flower bed, spacing them sixty centimeters apart. It grows to over a meter tall and is cultivated for its finely divided leaves in green to bronze shades, but it does not form bulbs. This airy perennial has its origins in the Mediterranean region, where it decorates warm, sunny slopes and dry places. Thanks to this, it is completely undemanding, and in your garden, it will do best in full sun with well-drained, sandy, or loamy soil. The striking red shade of the 'Pretty Betsy Red' variety is complemented by gray-green leaves.
Valerian holds one amazing record, as it offers the longest blooming period of all perennials. From early summer until early autumn, it constantly adorns itself with tiny edible florets clustered in convex panicles. Even complete beginners can easily manage its care.
