Epimedium pubigerum

They are effective with their ethereal flowers and interesting leaves with color variability and almost year-round aesthetic effect. The fine stems can also be used in flower arrangements. Orangekönigin is a proven, profusely flowering variety with soft orange flowers. Its great advantage is its ability to adapt over time even to drier conditions.

Papaver orientale

The Oriental poppy originates from the Caucasus, Turkey, and Iran, where it grows on rocky slopes and dry meadows. It blooms with large bowl-shaped flowers on tall stems. Like all poppies, for use in bouquets, we harvest them as soon as the buds color up and "crack". Additionally, we briefly (for about 20 seconds) sear the ends of the stems with a flame and immediately place them in cold water. Then they last in a vase for 4 days. The strikingly hairy and large leaves die back shortly after flowering, and the plant must rest until spring to gather strength. A portion of the leaves sprouts again in late summer. Therefore, it is advisable to plant other perennials in close proximity that sprout later and can draw attention to themselves during the poppy's pause. Royal Wedding flowers have white petals with a dark burgundy spot in the center of the flower.

Origanum rotundifolia

Nepeta racemosa

Catmints are ideal companions for roses, suitable for naturalistic gardens, and lower species also for boxes and pots. Some of them are an irresistible attraction for cats, caused by the hallucinogen nepetalactone. This should be present in the highest amount in the species Nepeta cataria. Conversely, lemon-scented catmints reportedly do not attract cats. The botanical name Nepeta likely comes from the name of the ancient Etruscan city Nepet - Nepi in the territory of today's Italian province of Viterbo, where the plant was once cultivated. Nepeta racemosa naturally grows on dry meadows and rocky, stony slopes from the Caucasus to Central Asia. It has aromatic grey-green leaves and forms a tufted semi-spherical bush. Walker’s Low got its name after an Irish estate where it was bred in 1970. It has the most intense blue-violet flower coloration.

Phlox is originally a perennial native to North America. It soon achieved great popularity in European gardens and has been systematically bred since the 19th century. It is a classic perennial for cutting into bouquets, where, in addition to colorful flowers, it also delights with a gentle fragrance. We harvest as soon as roughly half the flowers in the inflorescence have bloomed; then they last up to 10 days in a vase. Despite efforts to breed the most resistant cultivars, it remains true that Phlox reacts extremely sensitively to climate and soil conditions, so we carefully pay attention to the correct choice of site. The Sweet Summer series includes cultivars bred for greater resistance to fungal diseases. The Sweet Summer Dream cultivar impresses with warm pink flowers with a red eye. Its advantage is also compact growth.

Cultivation

Bukvice dobře poroste v humózní půdě s dostatkem živin na slunci i polostínu. Ocení zálivku v suchých obdobích. Pak se trsy dokážou pozvolna rozšiřovat do porostů. Pokud odkvetlé stonky průběžně odstraňujeme, může zopakovat kvetení.

Sanguisorba officinalis

Great burnet is a native meadow plant that naturally grows on damp meadows. In mid-summer, branching stems with tiny dark red flower heads rise from a clump of pinnate leaves. They create unusual structural and color accents in flower beds and bouquets. Great burnet is a vital plant for the Scarce Large Blue butterfly. In the garden, it fits well into naturalistic plantings with grasses and other perennials. It adds lightness and airiness to bouquets. It lasts 7 to 10 days in a vase.

Lavandula angustifolia

Lavender is a necessity for every sunny herb garden. We classify them as subshrubs, and they are valuable for gardens due to their winter habit. They add not only color and structure to flower beds but also an unmistakable scent. They will look good with lower drought-loving grasses and perennials. A compact cultivar with a dark flower.

Perovskia atriplicifolia

Perovskia are sparsely branched subshrubs, originating from areas ranging from Afghanistan to Tibet. They grow in open, sunny, rocky, and stony habitats. Their white-felted shoots and grayish aromatic leaves are striking. They fit well in sunny flower beds with other drought-loving perennials, where they create interesting structures even in the winter months. Little Spire is a smaller cultivar suitable even for pots with a soil volume of 7 liters or more.
