Celosia Celway Salmon

A verbena species originally from South America. In our country, it is often used as an annual, but in mild winters it can overwinter and reproduce by self-seeding. The firm, airy stems beautifully soften perennial beds and make them special with their purple color. It beautifully complements steppe plantings with grasses and rose beds.

Tento druh kosatce pochází prapůvodně zřejmě ze Středozemí. Odedávna velmi oblíbená okrasná zahradní rostlina, vyšlechtěná do mnoha kultivarů. Údajně je pěstovali už Keltové, oblíbený byl ve středověku a stal se heraldickou rostlinou. Ve váze vydrží 3–7 dní. Rosa má květy světle růžové, voňavé.

A beautiful fine grass originating from the southern parts of North America. It has narrow gray-green leaves. The flowers bloom in fluffy clouds of deep pink color, creating the impression of a light haze over the flower bed. Beautiful for bouquets too.

Originally a plant from the sandy steppes and slopes of southern Europe and central Asia. Cultivated in botanical gardens since the 18th century. Common in private gardens since the mid-19th century. A classic perennial for cutting. In the garden, it can also be used in modern steppe beds with grasses and drought-loving perennials. Flamingo has a pink double flower.

Perennials with palmately divided leaves and delicate flowers. In nature, they are found in moist meadows or light forests. They grow in clumps. Upright, suitable for cutting, the stems branch out and bear tiny umbels of flowers. These are further accentuated around the perimeter by jagged bracts in the flower's color with translucent green showing through. They last 10–14 days in a vase.

Phlomis is a valuable structural perennial that originates from the Greek islands and Turkey. It is also called Jerusalem sage. In plantings, it is used as a groundcover species and can even be successfully grown under trees. Both the flowers and stems with effective fruits are usable for cutting. If we do not cut them back in the autumn, they will adorn the beds throughout the winter, just like the dense carpet of leaves. Phlomis is also attractive to pollinators.

Strawflower is a classic from grandma's garden as well as a staple for dried flowers. We love using them for wedding arrangements because they don't wilt. They are suitable for corsages, wreaths, and boutonnieres. Shades of cream and white.

Geums are cute spring perennials with adorable cup-shaped flowers in warm color shades. Flowers grow on long branched stems. Petals are usually ruffled, flowers semi-double. Their clump-forming foliage is also interesting, eventually creating good ground cover. Flowering Geums are a great attraction for insects, especially butterflies. For bouquets, we harvest as soon as a quarter or half of the flowers on the stem are open. They last 7 days in a vase. Mai Tai begins to bloom in peach tones with a pink tinge and later transitions to more muted pastel tones. It blooms very vigorously with a large set of flowers. Mai Tai was bred in the USA in 2005.

A perennial that finds its place in naturally designed steppe and gravel beds. It attracts bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. It is floristically valuable for its flowers with striking bracts, which are also perfect for drying. The roots of some species were formerly eaten in England and France candied as sweets and added to pastries and jellies. In folk medicine, it was used, among other things, as an aphrodisiac, hence its folk name 'man's fidelity'. Glitter White was bred for a rich set of flowers and the silver color of the blooms.
