Sweet pea 'Spencer Royal Wedding' is a climbing annual that will reward you throughout the summer with a profusion of delicate pure white flowers with an intense fragrance. As this plant requires specific care, it is more suitable for experienced gardeners. Seedling preparation takes an average of 6 to 8 weeks. You can start sowing either in the autumn during November and December for very early flowering, or traditionally during January-February. Soak the seeds in water overnight before sowing. They germinate best at stable temperatures between 16 and 20 °C, with the first green sprouts appearing above the surface in 7 to 14 days.
For sowing, choose a 9x9 cm pot; sweet peas need plenty of space right from the beginning and do not tolerate root disturbance when transplanted. Sow 2 to 3 seeds per pot and be sure to cover them with a layer of substrate, as the seeds need darkness for proper germination. Keep the substrate moist but not waterlogged. Once the seedlings have grown and formed a nice small plant, it is important to pinch them back in time. This will encourage branching and result in a bushier, denser plant full of flowers.
Transplant the seedlings to their outdoor location only once the frosts have passed and the soil has warmed up slightly. Choose a location in full sun or partial shade and plant with 10x20 cm spacing. Since this variety climbs to a height of 100 to 250 cm, it is important to provide it with sturdy support, such as a tensioned net, trellis, or poles to climb on. Sweet peas require regular, moderate watering to prevent the soil from drying out. They bloom from May, and if you remove faded flowers, they can continue to bloom until the beginning of August. All parts of this plant are poisonous and inedible.
Harvest – Harvest the flowers ideally in the morning hours. Choose those that still have unopened buds at the tips. You can harvest just the shorter stems with flowers, but the longer vines with leaves are also excellent for floristry. They create an irreplaceable texture in arrangements and bouquets! Sweet pea flowers last only a few days (approx. 4-5) in a vase. To extend their vase life, we recommend letting them hydrate for 4 hours in a silver solution (silver thiosulfate) after harvest.

Times may vary depending on the season, climate, location, sowing and transplanting dates and possibly also the conditions in the greenhouse/greenhouse. We always recommend testing how the plant performs in your conditions. Please do not take this as a guarantee.
