Although correctly it is the Chinese hound's tongue, on the farm we don't call it anything other than forget-me-not! Unlike the classic water forget-me-not that we all know, this species has massive and long stems perfectly suited for binding. The color is a very fresh and distinct blue. Each plant produces 6-8 stems, and if you let some fade and ripen, seeds are easily collected.

After blooming, the top of the stem bursts into a delicate firework display. We use it in wedding corsages all the time; it creates a wonderful impression in bouquets, and in larger quantities in a flower bed, it is pure charm! They are also great for drying! For Drying

Limonium sinuatum

Statice is a classic from grandma's garden, but also an evergreen of dried flowers. We grow statice by the hundreds! It is incredibly useful in bouquets as filler material and even undried lasts a long time in a vase. Once all the florets on the stem bloom, statice no longer wilts and is suitable for wreaths, corsages, boutonnieres. One plant produces at least 15 stems. For drying, we harvest statice at the stage when the stem under the flower is firm and the entire inflorescence has bloomed. Just hang them upside down, in a dry and ventilated place, out of sunlight.

Cultivation

ÚVOD

Astry začínají kvést s krátkými dny. Od konce června se začínají zkracovat dny, astry tedy nejkrásněji pokvetou ke konci července, v srpnu a v září. Proto jsou astry spojené s plným létem a podzimem

Ideální je tedy astry vysít v dubnu a po posledních mrazech (polovina května) přesadit sazeničky aster ven do záhonů, ke konci léta sklidíte první květy.

VÝSEV

Astry doporučujeme předpěstovávat, přímý výsev do záhonu nebude fungovat.

Vysejte 1 semeno do buňky sadbovače. Sejeme na povrch substrátu a zasypejte vrstvou vermikulitu. Vermikulit pomůže udržet dostatečnou vlhkost ke klíčení semen, ale zároveň propustí světlo, které je u aster potřebné ke klíčení.

Dokud nevzejdou první klíčky je nutné zalévat pouze spodem, kdy vložíte sadbovač do misky s vodou a necháte vodu vzlínat. Můžete zalívat i vrchem, jen používejte to nejjemnější rosení (mlžení), jinak spláchnete vysetá semínka.

Astry potřebují ke klíčení relativně vysokou teplotu 20 - 22 °C. Semínka vyklíčí zhruba za 7 - 10 dní a v sadbovači stráví 4 - 5 týdnů, než dorostou v pořádné sazeničky.

Doporučujeme astry nedržet moc dlouho v sadbovači, ani je nepřesazovat do květináčků, nejlepší výsledek získáte, pokud astry přesadíte ze sadbovače rovnou do záhonu.

PĚSTOVÁNÍ

I když sazeničky aster zvládnou mrazíky (- 6 °C), je zbytečné pospíchat a bohatě stačí, když astry vysejte v průběhu dubna a přesadíte po posledních mrazech ven.

Astry nezaštipujeme, budou se vám přirozeně větvit. Astry se pěstují poměrně na husto, sázíme je tedy ve sponu 12 × 12 cm.

Daří se jim v humózní půdě, před sázením můžete do záhonů zapravit vyzrálý kompost. Vyberte pro ně slunné stanoviště.

Pozor, nepěstujte astry na stejném místě jako minulý rok. Vždy se snažte pro astry najít nové stanoviště a na původní místo se vrátit až za 2 - 3 roky.

CHOROBY

Astry nejčastěji trpí na fusariové vadnutí, proto doporučujeme buď (1) vybrat astry, které jsou rezistentní, jako je např. Matsumoto White, Matsumoto Pink, či Matsumoto Apricot, nebo (2) vždy se snažit astry sázet na nové místo a na původní se vrátit až za 2 - 3 roky.

OPORA

Pokud jste profesionál a pěstujete astry k řezu, doporučujeme oporu, resp. síť, kterou budou astry prorůstat. Bez opory se totiž jinak může stát, že stonky budou zahnuté a jinak pokroucené. Pro krásně rovné stonky je síť nutností.

Delphinium consolida

Larkspurs are spring beauties that are unmatched. But if you want to harvest them for cut flowers, you must be vigilant and harvest quickly before all buds open. Especially in the warm springs of recent years, they bloom quickly, so we sow several batches 14 days apart just to keep up with the harvest. Larkspur QIS White is a delicate white, fitting beautifully into wedding floristry. From one plant you will harvest one thicker stem and 4-5 smaller side ones.

Limonium sinuatum

Statice is a classic from grandma's garden, but also an evergreen of dried flowers. We grow statice by the hundreds! It is incredibly useful in bouquets as filler material and even undried lasts a long time in a vase. Once all the florets on the stem bloom, statice no longer wilts and is suitable for wreaths, corsages, boutonnieres. QIS Pastel is a beautiful sample of colors in tones of blue, violet, lavender and pink. One plant produces at least 15 stems. For drying, we harvest statice at the stage when the stem under the flower is firm and the entire inflorescence has bloomed. Just hang them upside down, in a dry and ventilated place, out of sunlight.

A smaller zinnia is very practical! And the Oklahoma series has flowers 4-5 cm large and fits perfectly even into smaller floristry tasks such as wreaths. Shades of darker and lighter salmon. One plant produces at least 10 flowers.
