Flowers are large, up to 10 cm, surrounded by many petals, making them appear double-flowered. Progressing toward the center, the petals shrink until they end up unopened in the middle, creating the effect of a sugared cupcake. No other zinnia compares!

Our favorite combination was: Gladiolus Frappe Apricot, feverfew, flat-spikes, and Strawflower Pierrot White.

If we were to compare the Colibri and Champagne Bubbles series, the first difference is that Colibri are annuals. But the advantages of the Champagne Bubbles series don't end there – they are also more financially accessible than the Italian Colibri version, have better germination, and the seeds are even pre-treated for improved germination. We also expect them not to be out of stock as often, as they are not bred in Italy, meaning communication and delivery times won't be as 'Italian'. Now for the disadvantages: compared to Colibri, they don't have such large flowers, the stems are less robust, and some color variations are missing. But all in all, this still makes them a great poppy!

The Barlow series is our favorite aquilegia because the flowers are double! We grow aquilegias as annuals on our farm, so we sow new ones every year. This saves space and also allows us to achieve longer stems. We grow some aquilegias in a polytunnel and manage to harvest them for Mother's Day, when flowers are scarce. Black Barlow is a beautiful dark burgundy color.
