Čistec Silky Fleece si okamžitě zamilujete pro jeho neuvěřitelně hebké listy, které svádí k pohlazení a připomínají zvířecí ouška. Tato trvalka, původem z kamenitých a suchých strání Kavkazu a Íránu, je mistrem v přežití na plném slunci a v propustné, písčité půdě. Díky svým stříbřitě šedým, plstnatým listům vytváří v zahradě nádherný kontrast k zeleným rostlinám a funguje jako dokonalý půdopokryvný koberec, který v zimě neztrácí na kráse. Je to ideální volba pro začínající zahradníky, protože nevyžaduje téměř žádnou péči, netrpí chorobami ani škůdci a skvěle zvládá i mrazivé dny. Kultivar Silky Fleece je specifický svým nízkým a kompaktním vzrůstem, dorůstá výšky pouze okolo 15 centimetrů. V letních měsících, od června do srpna, se nad stříbrným polštářem objevují drobné lila kvítky, které sice nejsou vhodné k řezu do vázy, ale spolehlivě přilákají včely a další opylovače. Rostlina se nejlépe hodí na okraje záhonů, do skalek nebo jako výplň prázdných míst, kde vytvoří hustý, plevel potlačující porost. Ačkoliv se nehodí k sušení ani do kytic, její hodnota spočívá v celoroční struktuře a hmatovém zážitku, který přináší do každé zahrady.

Při výsadbě sazenic čistce 'Silky Fleece' myslete především na to, že tato rostlina pochází ze suchých a kamenitých strání. Nejlépe se jí bude dařit na slunci, kde se její listy krásně vybarví do stříbřita a vytvoří hustý plstnatý povrch. Stín by způsobil, že rostlina zezelená a vytáhne se do výšky, což u tohoto kompaktního kultivaru není žádoucí. Půda by měla být chudší, písčitá a dokonale propustná. Vyhněte se místům, kde se drží voda, neboť nadměrná vlhkost je pro tuto suchomilnou trvalku větším nepřítelem než mráz.
Samotná výsadba je jednoduchá. Sazenice sázejte do sponu cca 9–12 kusů na m², abyste časem docílili efektu souvislého stříbrného koberce, který je navíc příjemný na dotek. Po zasazení rostlinu mírně zalijte, ale jakmile zakoření, zálivku omezte na minimum – zalévejte jen při extrémním dlouhotrvajícím suchu (💧). Čistec nevyžaduje hnojení; přemíra živin by mohla vést k bujnému růstu na úkor pevnosti a odolnosti rostliny. Díky své odolnosti netrpí žádnými běžnými chorobami ani škůdci, což vám ušetří starosti s postřiky.
Během sezóny můžete čistec nechat volně růst a kvést drobnými fialovými kvítky, které přilákají do zahrady opylovače. Pokud se vám zdá, že po odkvětu rostlina ztrácí na kráse, jednoduše odkvetlé lodyhy sestřihněte nůžkami těsně nad listy. Na jaře pak proveďte očistný řez, kdy odstraníte všechny suché nebo poškozené listy, aby udělaly místo novým. Rostlina je plně mrazuvzdorná (zóna 5a) a přezimuje bez nutnosti zakrývání, pokud má „suché nohy“.
Pokud nemáte zahradu, 'Silky Fleece' poroste výborně i v květináči na balkóně či terase. Protože se jedná o nízkou trvalku dorůstající jen 10–15 cm, je ideální do mělkých misek nebo truhlíků. Zásadní je však použít nádobu s odtokovým otvorem a na dno nasypat drenážní vrstvu. Substrát smíchejte s pískem nebo drobným štěrkem v poměru 1:1. V nádobě zalévejte opatrně, vždy až po úplném vyschnutí zeminy, a dejte pozor, aby rostlina nestála v podmisce plné vody.

Gaura is a clump-forming perennial native to Texas and Louisiana. Here, it behaves more like a short-lived perennial. It combines beautifully with grasses and adds lightness and airiness to flower beds. It is an excellent food source for insects. Tiny flowers resembling small butterflies bloom tirelessly from June until the first frosts. For bouquets, harvest as soon as the first two or three flowers open on the stem. The cultivar Caradonna stands out with a long flowering period and dark, almost black-purple stems with tiny purple flowers and dark purple bracts. An undemanding and modest perennial that blooms with a large number of tiny flowers. It blooms for a record-breaking length of time throughout late summer and autumn. It forms smaller, compact, airy bushes that release a minty-spicy scent. The thyme-like flowers attract bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. It will look good among roses as well as in naturalistic steppe beds, perhaps with lower grasses. This calamint is generally more vigorous. It differs from other calamints with felted leaves by its record flowering length, stiff and shiny leaves, and also a larger number of flowers that do not form seeds and are therefore maximally durable.
