Betony, or wood betony, is an ancient medicinal and magical protective plant. However, we also appreciate its charm in perennial beds. Apart from the pink dead-nettle-like flowers, its great advantage is its ability to spread over time into connected stands. The flowers are a source of nectar for bees and butterflies. The Superba cultivar has strikingly large pink-purple flowers.

Pěstování bukvice 'Superba' je díky její odolnosti a přizpůsobivosti radost i pro úplné začátečníky. Sazenice, které od nás obdržíte, vysazujte nejlépe na slunné stanoviště nebo do polostínu. Ačkoliv se jedná o velmi tolerantní rostlinu, nejlépe bude prosperovat v běžné zahradní zemině, která je hlinitá, propustná a humózní. Vyhněte se pouze místům, kde se dlouhodobě drží voda, aby nedošlo k uhnívání kořenů. Při výsadbě dodržujte spon přibližně 40 cm (cca 7 až 9 rostlin na metr čtvereční), což rostlinám poskytne dostatek prostoru pro zdravý vývoj, ale zároveň jim umožní se časem spojit do krásného zapojeného porostu, který přirozeně potlačuje růst plevele.
Co se týče zálivky a péče během sezóny, bukvice ocení mírně vlhkou půdu. Zálivka je důležitá zejména v prvních týdnech po výsadbě, než sazenice dobře zakoření, a poté v horkých letních dnech, kdy by půda neměla zcela vyschnout. Velkou výhodou tohoto kultivaru je jeho zdravotní stav – rostlina netrpí na choroby a dokonce ji obvykle ignorují i běžní škůdci, jako jsou slimáci, takže se obejdete bez chemické ochrany. Pokud chcete podpořit vitalitu rostliny a prodloužit dobu, po kterou zdobí vaši zahradu, pravidelně odstraňujte odkvetlé stonky. Tento jednoduchý zásah často stimuluje rostlinu k opakovanému kvetení v pozdější části léta.
Bukvice Superba je plně mrazuvzdorná trvalka (až do -28 °C), která u nás bez problémů přezimuje bez nutnosti jakékoliv zimní ochrany či nastýlání. Jde o dlouhověkou rostlinu, která na jednom stanovišti vydrží mnoho let. Pokud plánujete pěstování v nádobách či truhlíku, je to možné, ale zvolte dostatečně velkou nádobu s odtokovými otvory a drenážní vrstvou na dně. V květináči substrát vysychá rychleji než ve volné půdě, proto budete muset častěji zalévat a během sezóny přihnojovat tekutým hnojivem pro kvetoucí rostliny.

However, it will look just as good in mixed drought-loving steppe plantings with grasses. It lasts 7 days in a vase. The cultivar Caradonna stands out with a long flowering period and dark, almost black-purple stems with tiny purple flowers and dark purple bracts. If we cut it back after flowering, it will bloom again in late August and September.
