The larkspur cultivar Benary’s Pacific Cameliard will bring vertical dynamics and bright blue color to your flowerbeds. The original botanical species of larkspurs originate from mountain valleys and moister grassy plains, from which stems their love for nutritious, well-drained, and moderately moist loamy soil. In a sunny location, it will reward you with rapid growth and strong stems that commonly grow to a height of one and a half meters. We will send you home a beautifully rooted seedling in a pot, ready for immediate planting. We recommend maintaining a spacing of sixty centimeters; the plants need freer space around them to ventilate well and not suffer from powdery mildew. Larkspurs belong among perennials that require a bit more attention, and therefore, they are appreciated more by advanced gardeners. During growth and blooming, they need to be watered regularly and occasionally fertilized so that they have the strength to form large inflorescences. Therefore, in the garden, it appreciates humus-rich soil that doesn't dry out, and loves a sunny spot or partial shade. It forms upright and dense clumps that gradually spread into the surroundings via root runners, and can thus fill empty spaces in the flower bed over time. The inflorescences have the shape of a slender spike with four rows of tubular flowers and resemble well-known snapdragons in appearance. It is a rewarding perennial that does not suffer from pests or diseases here and is suitable even for beginner growers. The 'Vivid' variety is shorter and more compact than the original species, growing to a height of about 70 to 80 centimeters and standing out with its striking purple-pink color. Půda musí být hlinitá, humózní a na živiny opravdu bohatá. Ostrožka rozhodně nepatří mezi suchomilné rostliny, vyžaduje proto pravidelnou a vydatnou zálivku. Při výsadbě sazenic dodržujte spon šedesát centimetrů, což odpovídá zhruba dvěma až třem rostlinám na metr čtvereční. Tento rozestup je naprosto klíčový, aby listy po dešti a ranní rose mohly rychle oschnout. Zabráníte tak šíření padlí, což je nepříjemná houbová choroba projevující se bílým povlakem na listech.
Péče během sezóny se opírá především o několik důležitých kroků:
