Gypsophila paniculata

Paniculate baby's breath is originally a plant from the sandy steppes and slopes of southern Europe and central Asia, which has been grown in botanical gardens since the 18th century. Since the mid-19th century, it has also become naturalized in private gardens and became a classic cut perennial. In the garden, it applies excellently in modern-style steppe beds with grasses and drought-tolerant perennials, to which it adds airiness and lightness. The 'Flamingo' cultivar boasts a flood of tiny double flowers in a tender pink color, which last on the plant from July to September. The plant requires full sun and very well-drained, ideally sandy soil, because its deep taproots cannot stand winter dampness. Thanks to them, however, it resists drought excellently and is fully frost-resistant. For florists, baby's breath is indispensable, whether for fresh summer bouquets or for drying, as it retains its shape and color even after drying.

Hyssopus officinalis

The Roseus hyssop is an aromatic subshrub whose structure and requirements strongly resemble the popular lavender. It originally comes from the sunny and dry regions of the Mediterranean and Asia Minor, so it thrives best in direct sun here as well. It favors well-drained, sandy, and even nutrient-poor soil, where it easily copes with a lack of moisture. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you simply transplant straight into the flower bed, where it will very soon form a neat, richly branched bush reaching a height of around fifty centimeters. It is an absolutely undemanding plant that is not bothered by diseases or pests, so its cultivation can be easily handled even by complete beginners. It comfortably withstands severe frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees Celsius. In the garden, hyssop finds wide application. It fits perfectly into steppe-character gravel beds and beautifully complements roses or lower ornamental grasses. During the summer until early autumn, the Roseus variety will delight you with a flood of tiny flowers in a delicate light pink shade. These flowers, as well as the narrow green leaves, emit a pleasant spicy fragrance and reliably act as a huge lure for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. Since all parts of the plant are edible, you can also use hyssop in the kitchen as a herb to flavor dishes or prepare a medicinal tea from it. You can also cut the long flowering stems for a vase, where they will add a fine texture and lightness to summer bouquets. Although the flowers are not suitable for drying for floral purposes, the plant will please you in the flower bed even out of season. The inflorescences form an interesting structure which, after the leaves fall and are covered by morning frost, creates a beautiful winter effect. Furthermore, if you provide hyssop with ideal conditions, it will reliably self-seed in its location and remain a solid part of your garden for many years.

Gaura lindheimeri

Gaura is a clump-forming perennial native to Texas and Louisiana. Here, it behaves more like a short-lived perennial. It combines beautifully with grasses and adds lightness and airiness to flower beds. It is excellent pasture for insects. Tiny flowers resembling small butterflies bloom tirelessly from June until the first frosts. For bouquets, harvest as soon as the first two or three flowers on the stem open. The pure white blooming Cool Breeze has no hint of pink like other varieties. The flowers have greenish-white stamens, and the buds are also greenish-white. It grows more compactly than other Gauras.

Calamintha nepeta

Lesser calamint White Cloud is an undemanding and modest perennial that reliably perfumes any sunny garden. It naturally grows on the sunny and dry slopes of Southern Europe, which is why it will welcome direct sun here too, along with well-drained, even poorer sandy or loamy soil. It handles winter without trouble, tolerating frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant straight into the flowerbed, where it will very soon form a compact, airy small shrub reaching a height of forty centimeters. Even complete beginners can easily handle growing it, as the plant does not suffer from diseases or pests. From July to September, it blooms with an incredible number of tiny white flowers that emit a pleasant minty-spicy scent. The flowers, resembling thyme, function as a huge magnet for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. The entire plant is edible and will perfectly garnish summer dishes. In the garden, it will perfectly complement roses or steppe flowerbeds with lower grasses. Furthermore, you can cut the flowers for smaller fresh bouquets, adding lightness and a fine airy structure to them in a vase.

Stipa tenuissima

Feather grass flowers capture attention in beds and bouquets with their lightness and delicacy. All feather grasses love full sun and dry, stony, well-drained soil. To look most natural in beds, it is good to plant them in loose groups of several pieces together with other drought-loving perennials and bulbs. Only then do their stems and inflorescences, set in motion by the slightest breath of wind, truly stand out. Stipa 'Ponny Tails' is a species native to the steppes of Mexico, Texas, and Patagonia. Airy, dense clumps of hair-like delicate leaves resemble horsehair. The leaves are green, turning up to straw-colored towards the flowers. In a suitable location, it also self-seeds.

Hypericum

St. John's Wort bred for floristry use. It blooms with smaller yellow flowers, but the essential part comes after them. Namely, spherical, slightly pointed berries that hold well on the plant. They are neither poisonous nor edible; their use is purely decorative. St. John's Wort often blooms again immediately after the ripening of the first wave of berries, so we can find flowers and berries on one bush at the same time. It lasts two weeks in a vase. Globo Ruby has round ruby-red berries.

Fountain grasses originate from East Asia, where they grow in meadows and light forests. They form hemispherical clumps of narrow leaves which, like the flowers, color up in the autumn. They are suitable for the vase and for drying. The 'Hameln' cultivar is one of the most reliable bloomers in cooler regions. The inflorescences initially have a soft pink tinge, then change color to yellow-brown or reddish-brown.

Knautia macedonica

Macedonian scabious is an abundantly and long-blooming, undemanding perennial that will bring the untamed charm of summer meadows to the garden. Its wild form originates from the sun-drenched Balkans, where it naturally grows on sunny hillsides and in warm thickets. You will receive from us a mature seedling in a pot, which just needs to be transplanted into well-drained loamy or sandy soil in the sun or partial shade. Here it will quickly take root and form a vigorous clump. The Red Knight cultivar enchants with slender stems up to ninety centimeters tall, which all summer from June to September carry a flood of dark burgundy to deep wine-red flowers. These edible flowers act as a huge attraction for bees, bumblebees, and other insects. The plant is an ideal choice for beginners because it reliably resists frosts down to minus twenty-eight degrees and does not suffer from any pests or diseases. Although it belongs to short-lived perennials, in a suitable place it gladly self-seeds. It will fit perfectly into naturalistically designed plantings with ornamental grasses and is popularly used in sweeping meadow bouquets. We recommend cutting the flowers fully open; they will then stay beautifully fresh in a vase for several days.

Cosmos atrosanguineus

Chocolate Cosmos brings a piece of exotic Mexico to gardens. This unusual species attracts from afar with its typical scent reminiscent of dark chocolate, and the 'Eclipse' cultivar adds stunning velvety flowers in a dark burgundy color. You will receive a rooted seedling from us, which you can easily transplant according to your needs. Given its origin, it loves full sun and well-drained, slightly moist soil. It grows as a short-lived perennial, and because it only tolerates frost down to about minus twelve degrees, it is most often grown as a portable container plant. It looks great in a large pot on a balcony or terrace, but you can also hide it with the container in a flower bed among ornamental grasses, where it will bloom continuously from July to October. With the arrival of winter, you simply take it out and store it in a frost-free room. It reliably attracts many bees and other beneficial pollinators. Furthermore, the dark red flower heads are perfect for cutting. In a vase, they create an impressive contrast to more delicate light flowers and stay fresh for many days. The cosmos doesn't need any complex pest or disease care, so even someone who is just starting with similar portable species will quickly make friends with it.

Salvia gregii

*Salvia greggii*, often called autumn sage, is, in the case of the 'Dancing Dolls' cultivar, a tireless bloomer that will adorn your garden containers with flowers from late spring until freezing. Its homeland is the semi-desert regions of North America, so it loves sun, heat, and a drier, well-drained substrate. It grows as a low, densely branched subshrub that is easy to shape and maintain. Although cultivation is undemanding and suitable even for beginners, it is necessary to keep its limited frost hardiness in mind. In Czech conditions, this sage is best used as a dominant feature in pots on terraces, which you can easily move to a frost-free space for the winter, or it can be planted in very sheltered, sunny flower beds with high-quality drainage and a winter cover. The 'Dancing Dolls' variety brings playfulness and softness to plantings thanks to the unique coloration of its flowers, which alternate tones of pastel pink with creamy white. The tiny lipped flowers grow in abundance at the ends of upright stems and create a very airy impression. In addition to its aesthetic value, this plant is also useful – its strongly aromatic leaves and sweet flowers are edible and can be used in the kitchen as an original garnish for dishes. At the same time, it is a valuable honey-bearing plant that will reliably attract beneficial insects to your garden. The plant does not suffer from diseases or pests, so you can enjoy its beauty without the need for complex protection.

Agastache hybrida

Agastache Danish Delight will bring lightness and a wonderful fragrance to your summer garden. It loves full sun and very well-draining, even drier sandy or loamy soil. Once it gets used to your flowerbed, it does not require any complex care and effortlessly handles even harsher winter frosts dropping down to minus twenty-three degrees. Although it is classified as a short-lived perennial, its exceptionally abundant and persistent blooming will completely make up for it during the season. From July to September, it forms dense spikes of tiny pink and purple flowers, which are complemented by green, highly aromatic leaves. The whole plant gives a very elegant impression and grows to a height of around sixty to eighty centimeters. In the flowerbed, it looks great in larger groups, planted about half a meter apart, and gets along excellently with ornamental grasses or other drought-tolerant species. Moreover, it blooms continuously throughout the summer and acts as a huge attraction for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies, providing them with a generous pasture. A healthy clump will quickly grow from the supplied grown seedling in a pot. Fortunately, the plant does not suffer from pests or diseases at all, so even complete beginners can manage growing it. Not only will this agastache brighten up the garden, but it is also perfectly suited for cutting for home crafting. Its sturdy stems full of flowers look fantastic in summer bouquets, adding an interesting height to them, and stay fresh in a vase without problems for a little over a week. It can also be used for drying in winter arrangements, because it holds its color very well. A great bonus is that both the fragrant leaves and the flowers themselves are fully edible. You can use them to decorate summer desserts, salads, or refreshing drinks and pleasantly surprise your guests.

In their natural habitat, these majestic plants colonize sun-drenched locations and dry slopes, which gives them extraordinary resilience. They thrive best in full sun in well-drained, rather sandy soil, where they do not suffer from winter moisture. Although it is a short-lived perennial, thanks to its height of up to one hundred and twenty centimeters, it forms an unmissable vertical element in the flowerbeds. It fits perfectly into steppe areas alongside fine drought-tolerant grasses and other perennials. During May and June, its tall stems become a sought-after pasture for bees and other pollinators. The plant easily handles frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees and does not suffer from diseases or pests, so transplanting and growing this seedling is suitable even for complete beginners.
