Mentha spicata

Spanish mint, also known as spearmint, is an indispensable perennial for all lovers of herbs and fragrant gardens. It naturally grows in wetter meadows and on the banks of watercourses across Europe, so it does best in the garden in loamy and humous soil with plenty of moisture. It thrives in full sun as well as in partial shade, where it quickly forms a dense clump of fresh green leaves reaching a height of forty to sixty centimeters. You will receive a beautifully grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant directly into the flower bed or a spacious container. When planting in the soil, we recommend maintaining a spacing of about forty centimeters so that it has enough space to grow. It is an exceptionally resilient and undemanding plant that even complete beginners can handle without problems. It can even withstand severe frosts dropping down to minus twenty-eight degrees and does not suffer from common diseases; it is only occasionally necessary to watch out for the mint leaf beetle. During the summer, from July to September, the flower bed turns into a feast for pollinators. The mint blooms with tiny purple flowers that act as a magnet for bees and bumblebees. The entire plant contains strong essential oils, giving it an unmistakable and strong mint aroma. The leaves and flowers are fully edible, so you can use them in the preparation of refreshing drinks, teas, or as a garnish for summer desserts. However, Spanish mint also has a firm place in floristry. Its straight stems are very popular filler greenery for fresh bouquets, to which they add not only an interesting structure but above all a wonderful fragrance. In addition, you can easily dry the flowers and leaves for later use in herbal blends or small fragrant decorations.

Briza media

Quaking grass 'Tinkerbell' is an undemanding native grass whose delicate appearance will enchant in any natural garden. It naturally grows in drier meadows across Europe, where it seeks poorer and well-drained soils. It easily handles less nutritious substrates, does not suffer from diseases, and effortlessly survives severe frosts. It forms dense green clumps from which thin stalks carrying unmistakable inflorescences sprout from May to July. The tiny spikelets in the shape of small plump hearts play with yellow and brown tones. They are famous for their trembling at the slightest breeze, which adds dynamics and lightness to flower beds. The compact 'Tinkerbell' variety grows to a height of fifty centimeters and behaves as a short-lived perennial. It perfectly complements drought-tolerant perennials in full sun. It remains very attractive until August, when it is good to trim it after blooming. For florists, it is an absolute treasure. The stalks are beautiful in fresh summer bouquets and are perfectly suited for drying, retaining their shape long-term in floristry arrangements.

Thalictrum delavayi

Meadow rue will reliably bring extraordinary lightness and delicate structure to any garden. Its original homeland is the mountain plains and edges of thickets in western China, where it naturally grows alongside other tall perennials. Despite its fragile appearance, it is a very resilient plant that thrives best in partial shade or sun, in well-drained loamy and humous soil with regular watering. You will receive an already grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant straight into the flowerbed. Once established, it handles even severe frosts dropping below thirty degrees without problems. Moreover, caring for it is so easy that even complete beginners can easily manage it. The plant is avoided by pests and diseases, and it needs no support to reach a height of over one meter. The spectacular look of meadow rue is ensured not only by its tiny pinnate leaves but primarily by the flowers themselves. These grow from mid-summer to autumn in loose panicles on thin, purplish-colored stems. The individual small flowers have a delicate lilac shade with yellow stamens conspicuously protruding from them. In flowerbeds, they provide a beautiful airy lace effect that perfectly complements the heavier and fuller flowers of other perennials. During the long flowering period, bees and other pollinators fondly land on the plant. Although the entire plant is poisonous, it has an irreplaceable place in the garden. If you enjoy creating fresh bouquets, meadow rue will guaranteed please you. Harvest stems full of tiny flowers for the vase, which will add an unusual delicacy to the arrangement and stay fresh in water for about seven days. The plant is not suitable for drying.

Stipa tenuissima

Feather grass flowers capture attention in beds and bouquets with their lightness and delicacy. All feather grasses love full sun and dry, stony, well-drained soil. To look most natural in beds, it is good to plant them in loose groups of several pieces together with other drought-loving perennials and bulbs. Only then do their stems and inflorescences, set in motion by the slightest breath of wind, truly stand out. Stipa 'Ponny Tails' is a species native to the steppes of Mexico, Texas, and Patagonia. Airy, dense clumps of hair-like delicate leaves resemble horsehair. The leaves are green, turning up to straw-colored towards the flowers. In a suitable location, it also self-seeds.

Helleborus argutifolius

Corsican hellebore will bring freshness to your winter and early spring garden with its unique coloration. Its flowers have a fascinating pistachio-green to yellowish color, which contrasts beautifully with the dark green, sharply serrated leaves. This robust perennial, native to the Mediterranean, behaves like an evergreen subshrub in our conditions and grows up to 80 cm tall. Thanks to its growth habit and architectural appearance, it is perfectly suited as a specimen plant or for the background of shady perennial beds, where it fills the space even when other plants are still sleeping. It requires well-drained, humus-rich soil and a location in partial shade or shade. The inflorescences often appear as early as January and keep adorning the plant until March. It is one of the few plants that offer food for insects at such an early time. If you want to enjoy its beauty indoors as well, you can cut the stems with flowers for a vase. However, for a longer vase life, it is necessary to wait until the flowers mature slightly and seed pods start to form in the center; otherwise, they tend to wilt. Given its southern origin, we recommend protecting the plant with a covering of evergreen branches during freezing days without snow so that the leaves retain their decorative value until spring. Remember that the whole plant is poisonous.

Aquilegia vulgaris

The Heidi columbine brings unprecedented lightness and romance to any garden. In the wild, it grows across Europe, where it most often colonizes the edges of groves and moister mountain meadows. Its growing requirements in our country correspond to these conditions. From our seedling, a strong perennial will quickly grow in a partially shaded or sunny spot with humus-rich soil. It is completely undemanding, easily surviving severe frosts, does not suffer from pests, and even beginners can handle its care without worries. During drier summers, powdery mildew may occasionally appear on the leaves, which you can easily solve by promptly removing the affected parts. The Heidi variety boasts delicate flowers in soft pink tones, which constantly attract bees at the turn of spring and summer. Columbines add a natural flair to perennial beds and even reliably self-seed in their favorite spots. Furthermore, they are highly valued for their green leaves, which form a beautiful undergrowth. In bouquets, they create an incredibly fresh, airy impression and will hold their shape in a vase for a full seven days.

Gaura lindheimeri

The charming Gaura 'Whirling Butterflies' is exactly the perennial that will give any flower bed a relaxed, natural look. It originally comes from the dry and hot plains of southern North America, which clearly suggests that it loves sunshine and well-drained sandy soil. You will receive from us a beautifully grown seedling in a pot, which you can simply transplant straight into the garden. Here, it will soon form a dense clump of green leaves, from which long, thin stems dotted with flowers emerge all summer until October. These flowers open in a pure white color and gradually take on a slight pinkish tone. Furthermore, the abundant blooming reliably attracts pollinators, for whom the plant is a great source of food. It can handle even stronger frosts down to minus eighteen degrees. It looks excellent in mixed plantings next to drought-tolerant grasses or other undemanding species. Although it is a short-lived perennial, it willingly self-seeds, meaning it will stay with you in its location for a very long time.
