Lippia citriodora

Lemon verbena, also known as aloysia, will immediately enchant you with its intense and refreshing lemon scent. It originally comes from the warm regions of South America, and therefore it requires full sun and well-drained soil in our climate too. Because it only tolerates frosts down to minus twelve degrees, it is most often grown here as a portable container plant that you hide in a cooler, bright room for the winter. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant into a larger container or a protected flowerbed. During July and August, the plant blooms with tiny white flowers, which act as a reliable attraction for bees and other pollinators. Verbena does not suffer from pests or diseases, so even beginners can handle growing it. Since the seventeenth century in Europe, it has been used as a valuable source of essential oils for perfume production. You can harvest the green leaves and use them as a culinary herb in summer dishes or as a fragrant addition to teas. Aromatic sprigs can also be cut and added to summer bouquets.

Sidalcea hybride

Delicate light pink flowers with fringed edges make Sidalcea 'Elsie Heugh' an unmissable adornment. In its appearance, this short-lived perennial resembles miniature hollyhocks and brings the lightness of cottage romance to flowerbeds. It revels in a sunny or semi-shady spot in humous and loamy soil that is sufficiently well-drained. Although it looks very fragile, it is fully frost-hardy and will survive even severe winters. From the delivered mature potted seedling, a strong plant reaching a height of up to one meter will grow after transplanting into the flowerbed, which is advisable to provide with mild support. It blooms tirelessly from June to September and its flowers act as a lure for pollinators. Caring for Sidalcea is easy, pests avoid it, and even complete beginners will manage its cultivation with ease. In the garden, it perfectly complements rose beds or natural plantings with grasses. The 'Elsie Heugh' cultivar is absolutely ideal for cutting into a vase, where its stems will form the foundation of magnificent bouquets. A surprising detail is that these attractive flowers are completely edible, though the plant is not suitable for drying.

It naturally grows in wetter meadows and on the banks of watercourses across Europe, so it does best in the garden in loamy and humous soil with plenty of moisture. It thrives in full sun as well as in partial shade, where it quickly forms a dense clump of fresh green leaves reaching a height of forty to sixty centimeters. The entire plant contains strong essential oils, giving it an unmistakable and strong mint aroma. The leaves and flowers are fully edible, so you can use them in the preparation of refreshing drinks, teas, or as a garnish for summer desserts. However, Spanish mint also has a firm place in floristry. Its straight stems are very popular filler greenery for fresh bouquets, to which they add not only an interesting structure but above all a wonderful fragrance. In addition, you can easily dry the flowers and leaves for later use in herbal blends or small fragrant decorations.

Verbascum hybridum

Mullein brings a touch of wild nature and unusual elegance to the garden. In their natural habitat, these majestic plants colonize sun-drenched locations and dry slopes, which gives them extraordinary resilience. They thrive best in full sun in well-drained, rather sandy soil, where they do not suffer from winter moisture. Although it is a short-lived perennial, thanks to its height of up to one hundred and twenty centimeters, it forms an unmissable vertical element in the flowerbeds. It fits perfectly into steppe areas alongside fine drought-tolerant grasses and other perennials. During May and June, its tall stems become a sought-after pasture for bees and other pollinators. The plant easily handles frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees and does not suffer from diseases or pests, so transplanting and growing this seedling is suitable even for complete beginners. We harvest the stems when about half of the flowers in the inflorescence are open, and they last around five days in a vase. The Southern Charm cultivar is exceptional for its coloration. The flowers bloom in soft peach and apricot tones and transition into an elegant dusty pink color as they fade.

Aquilegia vulgaris

The common columbine is a popular and versatile perennial that inherently belongs in both rustic and modern gardens. In the wild, it grows on forest edges and clearings throughout Europe, so a sunny or partially shaded spot with slightly moist, loamy, and humus-rich soil will suit it best in your garden. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you simply need to transplant into a flowerbed. There, it will become a valuable element early in the spring thanks to its early sprouting green leaves. The flowers themselves then enter the scene in May and June. Although it is a short-lived perennial, it reliably self-seeds in a suitable location, so you definitely won't lose it in your garden. Columbine flowers act as a great attraction for bees and bumblebees, and the entire plant is absolutely low-maintenance, making it easy to grow even for beginners. It does not require support and can withstand very severe frosts dropping below thirty degrees. The 'White Barlow' cultivar stands out with an unmistakable appearance; its pure white, double flowers bring airiness and lightness to any planting. It grows to a height of about sixty to eighty centimeters and grows nicely in clumps. Columbines are excellently applied in wild natural plantings as well as thoughtfully planned perennial compositions. The double flowers of the 'White Barlow' variety look magnificent not only in the flowerbed but also in fresh bouquets, to which they add a tender and romantic element. For cutting, it is best to choose freshly opened blooms, and they will last about seven days in a vase. Since the plant is not suitable for drying and all its parts are poisonous, it will bring you joy primarily outdoors in the garden or in the aforementioned spring vases. During the season, just occasionally check if it is bothered by aphids or powdery mildew; otherwise, it needs no special attention.

Santolina viridis

Olive herb earned its name thanks to its unmistakable fragrance, which strikingly resembles green olives with a light touch of eucalyptus and bergamot. If you want to see this special aroma for yourself, simply rub its pea-green linear leaves lightly. This aromatic perennial has its origins in the dry and sunny regions of the Mediterranean. For this reason, it will appreciate as much sun as possible in the garden, along with well-draining, sandy, or nutrient-poor soil. You will receive a beautifully rooted, grown seedling in a pot from us, which you can just transplant straight to your chosen spot in the garden bed. Choose a planting spacing of about forty centimeters so that each bush has enough space for its growth. The olive herb grows in dense, richly branched clumps that reach a height of around half a meter. During July and August, it forms plenty of tiny creamy-yellow flowers. These attract beneficial pollinators and give the plant a cheerful look. Caring for it is surprisingly easy; common pests and diseases avoid it completely, and it reliably withstands frosts down to minus seventeen degrees. It applies well on dry walls, in gravel beds, or as a border for pathways. Like most Mediterranean herbs, it also handles growing in containers on the patio very well. Its young shoots and flowers are fully edible, so you can use them in the kitchen to flavor meals. Furthermore, the long fragrant stems with flowers can be cut for a vase, where they stay fresh for several days, and they are also excellently suited for drying into dried arrangements and wreaths.

Papaver orientale

Oriental poppy Coral Reef will attract attention at the beginning of summer with its sixty to eighty-centimeter tall stems, on which huge bowl-shaped flowers open in a salmon-pink shade with black spots near the center. Its home is the rocky slopes and dry meadows of the Caucasus, Turkey, and Iran, thanks to which it is extremely resilient. It can handle harsh frosts down to minus forty degrees, and growing it is easily manageable even for a beginner. It thrives best in full sun in well-drained loamy soil. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which just needs to be transplanted into the bed with a spacing of fifty centimeters, where it will soon offer a rich feast for bees and bumblebees. The plant does not suffer from diseases; the only danger to it is field voles. After flowering, the strikingly fuzzy leaves die back into the ground and the poppy rests. A portion of the leaves will reappear at the end of summer. Therefore, perennials that sprout a bit later and reliably cover the summer pause fit perfectly in its vicinity. The poppy can be excellently used in fresh bouquets. We harvest the buds the moment they fully color and crack. We then sear the end of the stem with a flame for twenty seconds and immediately put it in cold water. This way, they will last you four days in a vase.

Liatris spicata

It handles winter without any problems, withstanding frosts down to minus thirty-four degrees. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you can simply transplant straight into the flowerbed. It is exceptional in the way it blooms. Unlike most plants, its striking purple flower spikes open from the top down. From July to September, these tall spikes become a magnet for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. In flowerbeds, it works excellently in mixed plantings with ornamental grasses. It does not need support and does not suffer from diseases, just watch out for voles. Aquilegia vulgaris

The Heidi columbine brings unprecedented lightness and romance to any garden. In the wild, it grows across Europe, where it most often colonizes the edges of groves and moister mountain meadows. Its growing requirements in our country correspond to these conditions. From our seedling, a strong perennial will quickly grow in a partially shaded or sunny spot with humus-rich soil. It is completely undemanding, easily surviving severe frosts, does not suffer from pests, and even beginners can handle its care without worries. During drier summers, powdery mildew may occasionally appear on the leaves, which you can easily solve by promptly removing the affected parts. The Heidi variety boasts delicate flowers in soft pink tones, which constantly attract bees at the turn of spring and summer. Columbines add a natural flair to perennial beds and even reliably self-seed in their favorite spots. Furthermore, they are highly valued for their green leaves, which form a beautiful undergrowth. In bouquets, they create an incredibly fresh, airy impression and will hold their shape in a vase for a full seven days.

Delphinium hybrida

The majestic larkspur Benary’s Pacific Black Knight will bring original beauty and a striking vertical structure to your garden. In the wild, the original species of larkspurs grow in lush meadows with nutritious soil. Therefore, in the garden, it will reliably appreciate full sun and sufficiently moist, humous loam. Although it is a perennial for somewhat more advanced growers, with the right approach, it will reward you richly and will survive even extreme winters with temperatures deep below the freezing point without worry. We will deliver a beautifully rooted seedling in a pot, ready for immediate planting in the flowerbed. Do not forget to give it enough space, ideally with spacings around sixty centimeters, and throughout the season, do not forget regular fertilizing. A more airy space will naturally protect the plant from powdery mildew. It works excellently in mixed borders with peonies and roses, providing them with a beautiful dark background. The Black Knight variety stands out with long stems growing up to one hundred and fifty centimeters, which are gradually adorned with deep dark purple flowers from June onwards. These literally attract bees from a wide surrounding area. When growing, keep in mind that it is poisonous and very tasty to slugs in early spring. The firm flower stalks are absolutely ideal for fresh bouquets, where they will stay fresh for about seven days. However, do not place the vase next to ripening fruit, to whose ethylene larkspur is sensitive and would wilt faster. If you want to preserve its beauty longer, try drying it. The dark flowers retain their pigment excellently and will enliven absolutely any dried arrangement.

Phlox paniculata

Phlox is originally a perennial native to North America. It soon achieved great popularity in European gardens and has been systematically bred since the 19th century. It is a classic perennial for cutting into bouquets, where, in addition to colorful flowers, it also delights with a gentle fragrance. We harvest as soon as roughly half the flowers in the inflorescence have bloomed; then they last up to 10 days in a vase. Despite efforts to breed the most resistant cultivars, it remains true that Phlox reacts extremely sensitively to climate and soil conditions, so we carefully pay attention to the correct choice of site. The Sweet Summer series includes cultivars bred for greater resistance to fungal diseases. Sweet Summer Ocean is a very special cultivar introduced to the market in 2012. It is characterized by the color variability of flowers during the day. In cool mornings, the flowers are blue; as temperatures rise, they fade, and by noon they transition to purple-pink.

Brunnera macrophylla

The largeleaf brunnera comes from the moist mountain forests of the Caucasus, where it forms dense undergrowth. It is an ideal perennial for shady and semi-shady corners of your garden, where it will thrive in humus-rich, moist soil. It resembles classic forget-me-nots in appearance, but don't be fooled, its leaves are much larger, heart-shaped, and rough to the touch. Thanks to them, it acts as a great groundcover plant that sprouts early in the spring and reliably covers bare soil with its leaves until late autumn. It thus forms a natural contrasting background for the delicate, tiny flowers. Tiny sky-blue flowers appear in April, May, and June, creating a beautiful delicate veil over the green carpet of leaves. The flower clusters are also suitable for cutting into spring hand-tied bouquets, where they look very tender. Just watch out for snails and slugs, who like to feast on the juicy leaves of the brunnera, so it's a good idea to check the plants regularly. It is a long-lived and hardy perennial that handles severe frosts without problems and will bring you joy in one place for many years.

Alcea rosea plena

Hollyhocks are a necessity for every lover of rural atmosphere. We traditionally associate them with sunny cottage gardens, even though they came to Europe with ancient travelers along the Silk Road all the way from the steppes of Central Asia. And the taste for travel has remained with the hollyhock. It often self-seeds and you will find it in a place where you certainly didn't plant it. Naturally, it is a biennial or short-lived perennial. However, its instability is balanced by beautiful double flowers and a distinct silhouette and height. It is suitable for cutting and was also used for dyeing and as a medicinal plant. The Chater's series includes proven varieties with pompon-like double flowers.
